Last week's Nintendo Direct saw PlatinumGames unveil a new trailer for Bayonetta 3, and since then, executive director Hideki Kamiya has told Xbox and PlayStation fans to "tell Nintendo" if they want the game on other platforms.
As highlighted and translated by Kotaku, Kamiya mentioned that the chances of an Xbox or PlayStation release "aren't zero", but then again, the chances of Mario and Zelda coming to PS5 aren't necessarily "zero" either.
“We are developing Bayonetta 3, as we did Bayonetta 2, with money we received from Nintendo. Since we’re ‘only developing,’ Nintendo has total say regarding the product.”
“It seems the probability of Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 getting ported to the PS4 and Xbox isn’t zero. To be honest, the probability of most things isn’t necessarily zero! Just because it’s possible, however, that doesn’t mean it will happen. So please keep working hard at sending your passionate requests to Nintendo."
This isn't the first time we've heard something like this from PlatinumGames, as the studio previously told fans of cancelled Xbox exclusive Scalebound to write a letter to Xbox boss Phil Spencer if they wanted to see the game return.
Speaking of Scalebound, Bayonetta 3's Yusuke Miyata was actually the lead designer on that game, and it's been suggested that Bayonetta 3 might even feature some Scalebound influences in its mechanics.
We're not holding out any hope for Bayonetta 3 on Xbox, but as Kamiya says, the chances aren't zero!
Do you think there's any possibility Nintendo would release Bayonetta 3 on Xbox? Tell us down below.

Well considering how collaborative Microsoft has been with Nintendo the past few years by adding games like Ori and Cuphead on the Switch, as well as Banjo-Kazooie and Minecraft Steve in Smash Bros and allowing Nintendo to release Banjo-Kazooie as part of the N64 offerings on Nintendo Switch Online, you would think that Nintendo would throw Microsoft a bone and port Bayonetta 2 and 3 to Xbox. Not to mention that Microsoft could even pay Nintendo by also including the games on Game Pass.
Fat chance of this happening, but you never know, crazier things have certainly happened.
I think he was being a smart [expletive].
He might as well have just said "don't hold your breath".
Despite Microsoft letting Nintendo have so many of there games I highly doubt Nintendo would return the favour...not interested in the game anyway personally
Bayo 1 was great at the time
Bayo 2 was above average, but as good as 1
Bayo 3 that game play did not do it for me at all, looked shabby, out of date and weird astral chain stuff.
Shame it has gone that way since the first one.
Not interested at all.
Not looking like that
No sir
@LtSarge That what I was thinking. I mean Nintendo and MS have a pretty good relationship right now so it's in the realm of possibility but with Nintendos higher ups who knows.
At this point yeah Bayonetts is a Nintendo IP yeah the first was on Xbox 360 and PS3 originally but Nintendo funded the last two so they are much Nintendo as Mario, Link and Samus.
Well looks like its time to dust off the old switch and play something other then pokemon, mario and zelda
There are a few things I wish Nintendo would do and putting certain titles they have rights to on Xbox that would benefit from the additional horse power is one of those things.
In all honesty, it’s not Yamauchi’s Nintendo anymore. I would certainly like to see MS and Nintendo be far more collaborative.
@Carck You obviously didn't read my comment before posting yours. Of course they aren't a Nintendo IP but they basically are with the last two being Nintendo exclusives.
@Carck I think they were illustrating that since Beyonetta 2 and 3 are Nintendo games exclusively and Nintendo had the rights to the titles, it -might as well- be a Nintendo IP at this point. That being said, I would love more Xbox and Nintendo love. They’re both such innovative powerhouses in this industry.
Screw those lying thieves.
@LtSarge Big difference between allowing indies and allowing big "AAA" games, you don't see MS allowing Gears, Halo and Forza on Switch and that's pretty much where Bayo 3 is. Nintendo have been smart by not giving away their library to PC or other consoles and its why sales for Switch are so high, basically you want games made by Nintendo what aren't mobile based then you have to buy a Switch, Nintendo have always sold consoles/handhelds based on Nintendo's IP.
Yeah because Nintendo is soooooooo in tune with what their fans want.
/extreme sarcasm
@Az1ner “ Screw those lying thieves.”
What?
@XxEvilAshxX “ Yeah because Nintendo is soooooooo in tune with what their fans want.
/extreme sarcasm”
Also... what?
Yeah, I don't see it happening. I'd say there's a 1% chance of it happening. Don't kid yourself though with Mario and Zelda. It is definitely 0. That's like God of War and Ratchet & Clank appearing on the Switch.
I don’t see it happening for a good long while it at all even. But I am glad that some people in this website are very understanding and reasonable and not complaining like crazy unlike people on Twitter
The Switch doesn't even look like it can run Bayonetta 3 well. 30fps is an optimistic target rather than locked in.
Definitely a better chance of it showing up on Xbox than PS5. Nintendo and Microsoft actually do a lot of collaborating and seem to work well with each other, while Sony doesn't play nice with anyone.
Nah, I like it best on Nintendo! That's the beauty of having multi consoles.
Yeahhh......Not happening
@LtSarge Crazier things have happened, but i'd be HIGHLY surprised to see a B2 or B3 port to Xbox.
Nintendo seems happy to allow others games to come to their system, and to collaborate with characters but it seems to be one way traffic, we haven't seen much go the other way. Off the top of my head can't think of ANY Ninty exclusive games going the other way.
I'm sure there must be some/one? Anyone?
@Spiders look up the story of scalebound and how they were using the money funding other projects
@Az1ner Where / what do I search?
