Xbox and 343 Industries had some major news to share regarding Halo Infinite's release date of December 8 today at Gamescom Opening Night Live, but unfortunately it leaked much earlier in the day.
Nevertheless, the Xbox social media team saw the funny side of it, taking to Twitter after the official announcement to issue the following humourous message - racking up thousands of likes in the process:
As you can imagine, this has drummed up a ton of attention on Twitter over the past few hours, with Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg even suggesting the team should "make t-shirts for this".
We might have known we were getting a release date at Gamescom Opening Night Live, but we didn't know about the Limited Edition Halo Infinite Xbox Series X and Elite Series 2 Controller, both of which have gone down a treat so far.
Now all that's left is the agonising wait for December 8. It's going to be a long few months, folks!
Excited for Halo Infinite? What do you make of Xbox's response to the leak? Tell us down below.

Xbox Twitter is on point.
Also something to note, was able to preorder a steel case version of Halo Infinite on Amazon.
This is great. Like the Xbox fridge they just roll with the punches and it makes it better.
I'm really hoping this will have a good campaign.
I dare not get my hopes up, but a decent Halo campaign would be a fantastic early Christmas gift from Xbox.
Please don't mess this up 343i, genuinely your last chance.
Weird how MS is affected by leaks, at first glance. Then again, the company is huge so it's not crazy to think there are multiple leakers in the company.
@IronMan30 Aside from the Xbox Series S last year (which was a special case), these 'leaks' usually just stem from the Microsoft Store.
They put up a bunch of live store listings that the public aren't meant to see, but then they're discovered and shared across the web. It seems to happen at least a few times every week with games, but most of them are usually indies so don't get much attention.
