Xbox & Bethesda closed their massive E3 show with the announcement of Arkane Studios' latest IP, Redfall. It was the first time we had seen or even heard of Redfall, but it appears Arkane may have originally teased the game as early as last year.
As spotted by some eagle-eyed fans, Arkane's key art from last year - which showcased many of their properties - seemed to also hide a tease for Redfall in plain sight. At the far right of the image, fangs can be seen, as well as an eclipse - which were seen in the game's reveal trailer. Very sneaky, Arkane.

We don't know much about the game so far outside of it being a solo or co-operative immersive sim set in an open-world plagued by vampires. With Xbox choosing to use it to close out their show, we have no doubt they see potential in the game. It's due to arrive next summer, so hopefully details arrive thick and fast over the coming months.
Are you excited for Redfall? Let us know in the comments below.

I'm surprised it wasn't on Phil Spencer's bookshelf.
Well did any one notice Pete Hines was wearing a Redfall shirt during his part of the E3 show?
Also, if you look to the extreme left, you'll see a shield with a sword on it and someone kicking something. "The adventures of kickball man and his ward, sword" confirmed, xbox series x exclusive 8k, 240fps, first person deck builder, survival sports game
You gotta love the video game industry.
Management: "so this Arkane studio we have, what are they good at?"
"They usually create outstanding single player immersive sims with deep lore and worldbuilding, not the kind of explosion-heavy blockbuster that sells 10+ million copies, but a more nuanced experience that enthusiasts cannot get enough of"
"What is popular now?"
"Eeeeehhhh....zombies, I guess? Or maybe not anymore? Anyway, 4-player shooty stuff with zombies I think..."
"Shooting is in. Make a market analysis, see if zombies are still popular.
Otherwise, throw some vampires or something in there, I don't care."
@PhhhCough Meh, been done before. Every year EA releases at least 3 sports games that are very difficult to survive.
@clvr LOL nah, you missed the focus group session. It's not about 4 player shooty zoombies. It's about comic book superheroes + grit!
We saw little about it, but Phil introed it as "an immersive shooter" (so Arkane's still doing the immersive thing somehow), and that it can be solo or coop (I assume like halo that's a single player story that you can also coop in.) And personally I was happy to see Arcane do something different with a faster paced comic art style versus their usual dark & foreboding. The last time the Looking Glass guys diverged from dark and gritty we got Deus Ex 1.
But watching that, I saw it riding the Marvel films zeitgeist more than anything. If it had a DC Comics logo before the reveal, I wouldn't have flinched. In that sense I think it inherits some inFamous & Sunset Overdrive, mixed with that Arkane creepiness.
@NEStalgia ahahahah that's right, my bad 😂
To be honest I was so underwhelmed with that reveal I kinda zoned out and I just remember it as this bland mass of buzzwords, compared to what Arkane usually delivers lol
@clvr My reaction to this is the same as when I heard Bioware was making Anthem.
ZZZZzzzzzzz.
I may before getting an outlier, but to date I've yet to play a good multi-player game from a company with a single player reputation.
Likewise, I feel closest thing to "good" I played in single player formate from aultiplayer company would be either Crysis(pretty but meh) or Battlefield Bad Company. Which I was actually hoping the new BF game would have been a sequel to.
@InterceptorAlpha yeah the Anthem comparison seems quite apt, let's hope the end result is different though lol
Personally I don't play a lot of multiplayer games so I'm not the right person to judge their value as I don't know them very well, but the ones I really like are Splatoon 2 and Titanfall 2, as they're fast, quite simple to grasp, and let me have fun even though I'm terrible at playing them lol
So far I'm still not thinking this is a "multiplayer game". It definitely sounds like a single player story driven game that supports 4 player coop. Maybe more like Diablo, Gears, Far Cry where it's primarily a single player game but supports cooping it. That's the impression I got from it. I hope I'm right, because I couldn't care less if it's just a 4 way multi game!
@NEStalgia this one is curling. You start in the amateurs, of 1987. Iced alleys and make shift parking lots, all the way to the Olympics of 3021. You can only save at the end of every year. Game time = real time.
@PhhhCough shut up and take my money! 🤑
From the interviews and information that has been released since, the game can be played totally solo. However, it seems like its designed 'primarily' as a co-operative experience - combining 'skills'.
For example, if you play as a Sniper character, you can't necessarily get to some of the high ground without the Teleport character to help you get there.
Like all Arkane games, they build 'systems' and let the player use those to create immersive gameplay moments. In Dishonoured, you can jump off a building and before you 'splat' on the floor, take-over a fish and swim away. This game has its systems too - that obviously can be combined with more players.
Like they say, the game can be played Solo, but like Outriders too, its fundamentally a co-op game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsRYV9sBHSA talked about this...
@BAMozzy If it’s anything like Outriders, I’ll be thrilled. I had a blast playing that with my brother, but if he was busy, I could play solo with no problem. I enjoyed the story and gameplay. Redfall is definitely one I plan on checking out.
@Hypnotoad107 I don't mean that it will be exactly like Outriders - but that it 'seems' to be designed with a similar principal. By that, I mean you can play through everything Solo but its designed primarily as a Co-op shooter.
Anyone can use a Sniper rifle for example but if you are not playing as a character that can teleport for example, you can't reach high ground. Another player playing as the Teleport character could teleport the Sniper to get the high ground.
Arcane are known for building great systems in their game and giving the player the freedom to use those Systems to create emergent, rather than scripted, game-play. How you decide to infiltrate a building for example isn't 'scripted' - like you have to find a key to go in through a specific door. You have systems to take over a Rat and get in through the sewers, Teleport up to a balcony and get in through a window - different 'systems'.
Just have to see how this develops but I get the impression that its built primarily as a co-operative experience that can be played Solo if you want. Hopefully, its a balanced well for Solo players but with it being on Game Pass, I can't imagine it being too difficult to find friends playing. I have made many good and long lasting friendships too by playing online co-op games through Random Matchmaking...
