Microsoft has today unveiled the first ever 'Designed for Xbox' gaming monitors from Philips, ASUS, and Acer, all of which are set to release later this year, with more Xbox licensed monitors to arrive in the future.
These are targeted at the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and the branding means "you can be confident your new display can support the full speed, performance, and technology of Xbox Series X|S."
Without further ado, here they are:
Philips Momentum 559M1RYV 55”
The Philips Momentum was developed with Microsoft and validated to deliver optimal Xbox Series X|S performance as soon as you turn it on. It offers quality sound engineered by audio experts, Bowers & Wilkins and new Ambiglow lighting which creates an image-matching halo of light on the rear wall, visually enlarging the screen and giving players a truly immersive experience.
The Philips Momentum supports 4K resolution at 120Hz powered by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology to reduce screen tearing. It also introduces a new, dedicated Xbox picture mode. Players can enjoy high-contrast HDR with the VESA Certified DisplayHDR 1000, offering local-dimming and peak luminance more than 3x that of mid-grade displays on the market.
- Price: $1599.99 USD
- Release Date: Summer 2021
ASUS Strix Xbox Edition Gaming Monitor XG43UQ 43”
The ASUS ROG Strix Xbox edition comes in at 43 inches, delivering 4K UHD visuals and a 1ms moving picture response time (MPRT) for superfast gaming on a big screen.
Co-developed with the Designed for Xbox Team, ASUS has created an Xbox mode for best color, contrast, and hue settings when paired with Xbox Series X|S. This monitor also features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology putting an end to choppy gameplay and replacing it with supersmooth native 4K at 120Hz gaming via HDMI 2.1. Plus, it offers a 90% DCI-P3 color gamut and DisplayHDR 1000 certification ensuring quality visuals and true-to-life colors.
- Price: TBD
- Release Date: October 2021
Acer Xbox Edition Gaming Monitor XV282K KV 28”
The 28” Acer Xbox Edition Gaming Monitor supports 4K at 120Hz and HDMI 2.1, pushing next- generation gameplay to its limits on Xbox Series X|S. It has a low 1ms response time and ensures high color accuracy while the VESA DisplayHDR 400 provides great contrasts between dark and light shades.
Like other monitors entering the program, this display comes AMD FreeSync Premium Pro ready. Equipped with Acer VisionCare 3.0, the Acer Xbox Edition Gaming Monitor is among the first monitors to be TUV/Eyesafe certified, reducing strain on gamers’ eyes as they dive into their gaming adventures. For those interested in PC gaming or a more robust technical setup, this model has a built-in KVM switch, enabling easy switching between multiple PCs without having to change the monitor, keyboard, and mouse setup.
- Price: $949.99 USD
- Release Date: Fall 2021

These seem a bit pricey, one is more expensive than my Samsung QLED I bought couple of months ago. That has VRR, 120hz, minimal input lag, AMD freesync, and amazing HDR. Paid just over a grand for it. Think I will stick to that.
My PC is actually a laptop so a monitor isn't really much use to me.
EDIT: Actually that top monitor is the same size, so I am wrong. That is really good value.
Great collaboration! Will still focus on getting a TV that can do this at a better price / larger size. Cool for those into monitors though, hope Nintendo gets in on this (Sony almost by default does with it's own line of TVs)
@TuckNorris85 thats what I thought. That Phillips is the same price as the 65" LG OLED I just bought.
Nearly a £1000 for a 28inch gaming monitor 🙃
You can find way cheaper ones online that are also 4k and have too spec's and features
Those are nice but not really for me as my Xbox usually doubles as the main Blu-ray player in the house so it's usually connected to the main tv.
I saw a perfect LG 27" monitor with VRR, HDMI, Oled and all the bells and whistles but I since for the life of me can't find it! Interested in the Acer but that price is steep
I'm happy with my Samsung QLED 55 inch I bought last year for $900 bucks. These looks great though and more competition in the marketplace is a good thing.
Buying a $1000 gaming monitor to not play all the games I can no longer afford.
Interested in the acer.
RIDICULOUS prices
I just want my current Acer 4K monitor to be recognised by my series X as a 4k monitor and not a 1080p one the way my PC and PS5 does. Unless it was deliberately collaborated with MS to force me to upgrade the monitor? I can be cynical when I want to be...
While I want the Acer, the price is an instant no.
All these way way way out of my price range
@elpardo1984 @TuckNorris85 I am really looking for a good 120hz tv that doesn't go above 1300 euros and I see you both got ones that you feel happy about. Any tips for searching?
@AFCC I was fortunate enough that Samsung offered employees of my company 10% off a few months back so I got mine for £1099 ( pretty sure most retailers have dropped the price of it to that now though) . Let me check what model I have and I will come back and edit this post.
EDIT: I have the Q80T. I was torn between that and the LG OLED ( which was exactly the same price) but went for the Samsung purely because of the brightness of the quantum display. I live in a super well lit room and I think during the day the LG's low brightness would have caused problems. The contrast on the LG is the best I have ever seen though, but the Qled is still pretty decent.
The Q80T also has an amazing game mode, input lag is not far from a monitor, and it has a motion interpolation mode WITHIN the game mode. Most tvs I would avoid that like the plague due to it causing ridiculous input lag, but the Q80T manages to keep it around the 10ms mark. It basically triples the input lag, but triple of 3ms is still nothing though.
@AFCC LG have jsut released their newer C model OLED TVs so you may get a deal on the CX(last years model). I believe the B series(so BX model) also supports HDMI 2.1 as well. Depending on the size you should be able to find either of those easily enough.
These will be great purchases in 2022 when the prices become more reasonable.
These are too expensive. Hopefully in the near future, some manufacturer would do 'Designed For Xbox' 1080p/1440p monitor with VRR support priced at $300 or less.
i plan to upgrade my current LG Nano cell series 90 TV to the new LG C1 OLED within a years time. these new designed for Xbox tv's are just a big waste of hard earned consumer money and time saving it up
@elpardo1984 @TuckNorris85 thanks to both of you for your time. I will now check prices on my country
@AFCC no probs. Happy to help, having a great TV makes all the difference. The 2 models we suggested are a pretty safe bet and should easily last a couple of console generations.
