It's here! After years of anticipation and the internet losing its mind at the lack of news, we finally have our first glimpse at Elden Ring gameplay, arriving on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on January 21, 2022.
The trailer gives us our first look at the visceral combat, gorgeous world design, and of course, a plethora of messed up creatures to face. From the trailer we've spotted walking pots, giant hands, and a huge terrifying face that's come flying towards the players. Creepy stuff.
Elden Ring's release date is a lot sooner than we expected, but the trailer was definitely worth the wait. Bandai Namco is hosting its own E3 presentation on June 15 at 2:25PM PT / 5:25PM ET / 9:25PM UTC / 10:25PM BST. We're going to make a bet we'll hear a bit more there, so it may be a good idea to tune in.
Do you think the first look at Elden Ring was worth the wait? Let us know in the comments below.

I'm digging the aesthetic a lot even if the Souls influences are pretty obvious, and I really like the design of the player character honestly
Definitely looking forward to this. FromSoft has yet to miss imo
Game looks very good, And it comes out January. I thought this was a late 2022 game, Happy to be proven wrong..
Definitely looked the part, just hope it isn’t souls or blood bourne hard to much.
Best new IP I e seen it a while and excited for it.
Also a January 2022 release date, something to look forward to in the new year.
They showed this ages ago at an Xbox event, not sure if it was two years ago.
It lead to people thinking Xbox may have advertising rights etc.
Wonder if they have or not.
So we went from "dark fantasy" to "dark high fantasy" - I have to admit that visually it looks stunning, but can't Fromsoft ever branch out from "dark pseudo-horror" themes? Is everyone at the studio a bunch of goths or something? The combat looks so smooth it actually piques my interest, yet I generally can't stand Soulsborne games despite trying and trying to get into it. They said the changed up the combat in Sekiro and, instead, it was even more ruthlessly aggrivating.
Hmmm I’m not sure and apart from Martins name being on it I’m not sure what he’s brought to the table here? I must admit though the Souls games have always had trouble holding my attention, I much prefer other souls like games like Bloodbourne or The Surge 2.
@Fenbops GRR Martin didn't actually contribute to stuff like art direction and the general look of the game, he was solely responsible for the narrative and worldbuilding stuff
in all honesty, i had hoped it would look like more than just another Dark Souls game, maybe a different aesthetic like Sekiro. i don't know EXACTLY what i was expecting, but it looks like...a Dark souls game shrug
I typically steer clear of FromSoftware games because of their high difficulty. Sad but true.
Absolutely mind-blowing stuff.
When Geoff was doing it's intro I was expecting to be disappointed, he was REALLY bigging it up.
But the second it started and I realised what was happening, goosebumps from head to toe! 😁
The trailer is phenomenal, utterly perfect and I have no reason to believe the game won't be too.
Miyazaki has never let us down 😊
Since I haven't gotten around to buying a Soulsborne game, yet, I'll probably just get this one.
I may end up skipping this. The grotesque horror influences on souls games for me are uninteresting. At least games like nioh and sekiro have mostly practical looking enemies.
