Update: Here's the official trailer in all of its glory. As announced at Xbox and Bethesda's E3 2021 Showcase, Starfield is exclusively hitting Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming on November 11, 2022.
In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom. Harnessing the power of next-gen technology and built on the all-new Creation Engine 2, Starfield takes you on a journey through space as you strive to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.
Original Story: After months of rumours, leaks, and plenty more, we finally have some solid details about Starfield. A leaked trailer just before Xbox's E3 event has given us our first look at the game, as well as a release date of November 11, 2022.
The trailer comes from The Washington Post, which has seemingly pushed the trailer live a little too early. Interestingly, it only shows Xbox Series X|S and PC as the listed platforms, suggesting we won't see it elsewhere.

Obviously we'll get more information during the showcase and keep you posted on any new details, but as it stands, here's your first bit of major Starfield news in a fair few years.

2022. November,. Seriously. Taking the p133 surely
No need to post this at all
1. That's disappointingly far away
2. I wish they'd just show gameplay rather than nonsense like this which tells me very little
Next gen only? Big W right there!
And love the cheeky date nod for Skyrim!
@The_New_Butler @Az1ner Guys, it's our job to post the news. Every other outlet is reporting on this as well.
Whoever pushed the button to early and leaked the trailer should get sacked.
They had one Job to do, release the trailer after 7:30pm bst when the show finished.
Just one job 😂😂😂
@FraserG But is it your job to be the first?
I was hoping for gameplay. Positive that rest will be cgi trailers too
@FraserG True, but I'm sure there have been others like me that have purposely stayed off anything until now waiting for the show. In the end, I'll live though as this is not a surprise at all. Still going to wait and watch the trailer "live", but the one thing still left out of this is getting confirmation that it is Xbox exclusive. If not, then they might as well just skipped buying Bethesda, but we'll see.
Bruh you can't wait until the showcase is over before reporting this?
@FraserG
Good news well posted thank you.
Not sure why people moaning, one little cgi trailer and release date miles out.
@sanderev That's typically the goal!
But actually, in this case we were far from the first. IGN, GameSpot, Video Games Chronicle, VG247, Kotaku... they all managed to get to this one before us.
Needs a massive spoiler alert! Come on!
Literally the first time i'm so regretting checking this site
Considers me spoiled T.T
@Chaudy If most of the other trailers are just CGI trailers and ways out, then this showcase will be a failure in my opinion. We are just minutes away, so we'll see. Hopefully they deliver, as this needs to be a big conference for them. At least in my opinion.
@The_New_Butler @Killowertz My sincere apologies that we spoiled the surprise for you - and anyone else.
If we were the first to spot this, or it wasn't getting much attention, we would have refrained from posting it. But because it's doing the rounds everywhere right now, we felt it was necessary to keep up.
If 'true', that wouldn't be much of a Surprise at all. For weeks, if not longer, numerous insiders have come out and said this will be Exclusive to Xbox and that it's likely to release late 2022...
I know we ALL hoped for a late 2021 or at least early 2022, but hopefully, MS will have other games coming to fill the gap...
We have Flight Sim, the Ascent, Halo Infinite, STALKER2, Scorn, The Gunk, CrossfireXL etc expected in the next 6-12months to look forward too + all the multi-platform games to occupy our time - as well as rumours of Forza Horizon 5 or Motorsport.
I admit that I am looking forward to Starfield a LOT more than the majority of other games coming in the next 18months but I'd rather have an untypically stable and relatively 'bug free' Bethesda game at launch than release it 'early' and spend the next 6-12months trying to 'fix' it...
@Dezzy70 In the end, it's not a big deal. It's honestly a disappointment (the trailer) unless this ends up being confirmation that it's an Xbox exclusive and will lead to basically all Bethesda games being exclusive.
I get why people are upset though. It's moments away and people came here specifically to watch the conference.
@FraserG It's ok. I'm already over it given that the trailer is somewhat of a disappointment anyways since it has no gameplay.
End of 2022, this showcase best have a few games for this year otherwise I'm regretting buying my series s already
FINALLY, the conversation about this can end lol!
Well, they are 1 for 1 so far. Starfield being an Xbox exclusive is big. Now they need the other ZeniMax/Bethesda titles to follow suit...
Not on Xbox One is a bit surprising
@Sakisa It's refreshing though, even though I have no objections to cross-gen like the backlash Sony was receiving of late. Again, I'm just glad this gave confirmation that it's an Xbox exclusive.
Will it actually make the November 11, 2022 release date now? Who knows....
Im glad its next gen only wont have the xbox one holding it back.
I think its important Bethesda release it it the best state they possibly can
Nice!!! Its already day one for me
Pushsquare is going to have an aneurysm.
Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, two massive exclusives to improve the Xbox game library even more yet some people thought Microsoft wanted to publish these on PS5 😂.
I was expecting next year, no way Xbox was going to drop two sci-fi games for the holiday
But wasn't expecting November next year, at least we got a date though. I expect a good chunk of next years E3 will be devoted to gameplay
The people whinging about games news getting spoiled on a games news site are extra special. Absolutely absurd. I didn't watch it live and still didn't get spoiled. It ain't hard, don't visit the games news places until you've watched it.
Color me surprised, they actually made it an Xbox Series X|S exclusive, can't even play it on Xbox One.
That aside, trailer was cool and happy we finally got a date.
I'm so excited for Starfield, Xbox exclusive baby..
