We got a look at Biomutant running on an Xbox One earlier this week, but now we can finally see the full game through some unedited footage on an Xbox Series X - and it's stunning.
Players on Xbox Series X will find the game running at native 4K/60 FPS with dynamic resolution. As demonstrated in the video above, the results are fantastic, with a smooth as butter framerate complementing the hectic combat - even though this is just a backwards compatible version of the game running. It's also worth noting that the game's use of colour is beautiful, and for those of us with HDR ready TVs, we're in for a treat.
Interestingly, the Xbox Series X version runs considerably better than the PS5. As noted by our friends over at Push Square, "the option for native 4k on PlayStation has been deactivated due to stability- and performance-related reasons". Instead the game will run at 1080p/60FPS, which will be upscaled to 4K. A native next-gen version is in the works, so fingers crossed this will be something PlayStation 5 players can experience down the line.

Anyone care to explain why on the xbox store this game is 76.99 (canadian) and on the playstation store its 59.99? In stores physically it is also 59.99 for both consoles... why is the xbox store so much more expensive?
@IndoorHero
I imagine graphical setting on par with the PC version.
So is the Series X version going to be native 4K/60fps at launch? I thought the devs said this would arrive as an update in the “near-ish future”?
@torne Definitely looks like an error on the ps store, not the xbox store. Its £55 UK, $60 US, 60 Euro. Its a full price game everywhere, except the ps store in canada, I expect its a pricing error that Sony/THQ will fix soon
This sounds like its series X performance upgrade for the base xbox version (like jedi fallen order) rather than a native version (like crash 4 or what jedi fallen order is getting later this year), but native version is coming so should have an even better performing game on the way. nice!
@lumothesinner that's the thing, physical copies in store are $59.99 as well. The outlier is the xbox store. I've checked best buy, Amazon, and EB Games. All 59.99.
I had rewards points I was going to redeem and get it digitally, but if it's only going to bring it down to the same cost as other consoles it seems like a waste of rewards points.
I'll get it physically, but now I am back to trying to decide on playstation or xbox. I know the xbox version has an edge now, but I have both ps5 and series x, so not knowing how those versions are going to stsck up makes it a bit more difficult to decide.
@Deadcow Different strokes for different folks.
To me this looks like the only interesting title coming out for Xbox anytime soon, and I love the visual style. Of course I need to see some review scores - but I'm genuinely excited.
@torne That's for the extra 1080p up to 4K on Xbox
(hopefully just human error)
There's so much I like here like the world and character design etc. but the combat seems to lack weight, almost nothing feel like it hits. Will be waiting for reviews.
@torne You've got to pay extra for that resolution boost!!
@rjc-32 but only digitally. I'm really struggling to see why. Microsoft may have just lost themselves a sale. My city is still in lockdown, so I'm not going to be going to a store. So it's either Amazon which is 59.99 but I have to wait for it to be delivered, or buy it on playstation for 59.99.
I'm not paying 20 bucks more for the same game digitally on the xbox store.
Looks great fun, the style and fun-orientated RPG mechanics paint it as a great ‘drop in and blast out’ play, with a tonne of customisation. But the Game Pass privilege strikes again… for a full price release, it needs to review WELL before I drop cash on it…..
