Achievements have been a big deal for many Xbox fans ever since the system was introduced with the Xbox 360 all the way back in 2005, but some Xbox users aren't currently too thrilled with the way they're presented in 2021.
As a result, Xbox fan Babu1993 has taken to Reddit to share his concept for an improved Achievements layout on modern consoles, which has generated a lot of attention over the past couple of days.
Babu1993 says the intention here is to "eliminate wasted space to fit more games on, making it quicker and easier to navigate", as well as highlight rare Achievements which he thinks get overlooked. He even added a new feature called "Medals", which you would get when you 100% completed a game. Some cool ideas!
Of course, it's not the most polished design and the fonts are a little big, but it's certainly a good attempt. Fans are divided though, with some suggesting it's fantastic, and others pointing out that it's "far too busy" and missing features.
What do you think of this concept? Give us your thoughts down in the comments below.

What I want to know is how he can be a quarter of the way through Halo Infinite and nearly half way through Starfield...
This format is closer than what the trophy system is with the trophy being the equivalent of a platinum. I'm not chasing achievements but this does help show...well....some of your achievements by sticking to a game to 100% completion. I wouldn't mind having something just to say you finished the game as you can do that and the only have 40% achievement completion. I care more about knowing what games I've actually completed fully vs. if i found all the ponchos that have no effect on the game.
I like the “Medals” idea. I usually don’t bother with achievement hunting because the points system is not enticing for me. The “medals” would be an instant reminder of how many games I actually played to completion - just like the Platinum trophies on PS.
@Krzzystuff Can you see me waving? We’re on the same boat!
I like the idea of adding Medals to getting 100% for a game like the Platinum trophy on PlayStation, but otherwise I actually already like how things look. They did a slight change to it last year when they were getting things ready for the Series X|S, and it made things look a bit cleaner, so I'm good.
If anything, maybe find a way to divide the DLC achievements from the main game in the layout like Sony has with trophies, which would make things cleaner. Now they are all just lumped together and it's hard to tell what the DLC achievements are from the regular ones sometimes. Like I said earlier, I'm fine with how things are now, but that would be my one change other than Medals for getting 100%.
We really should have a medal, trophy or whatever to show games that we have 100% completed the achievements (dlc not included).
The fact is that this info was shown on Xbox 360 profiles, it counted the number of completions, no one ever seems to remember or talk about this, but boot up your 360 and the info is right there. MS just need to add a count on our One/Series profile for all games, whether it's a simple count a number or as above a medal or trophy.
I love achievements and the stats available on True Achievements are quite fun and interesting, all the data is there, MS just need to make this part of the dashboard more filled out.
I wish it was easier to 100% more games, it always feels so masochistic to get the last 15-20%
That looks really good. I hope Xbox is watching.
I would like to add a Play Time to each game as well. I wish that was universal across all games and not left to the developer to implement it.
The 3DS had THE best play time tracker.
I used to be massively into grabbing achievements. I just get them for my daily 50 ms points and any needed for weekly/monthly points now. Save a nice easy game to grab stuff on to activate one then go play what I want (currently human fall flat.)
I get what they are trying but this is far too busy and unpolished. Space is important. Trying to squeeze as much information into one page is never a great solution.
Additionally humans scan information more quickly in one dimension, rows OR columns. The 2 across grid makes this harder.
However theres some promising ideas here that a better designer could take and iterate on. I.e. Make it one game per row, give everything a little room to breathe, better balance the typography and you are already making good strides.
(Postscript: if they want to turn their hand to the PS5 trophies interface that is an abomination, and a clear regression from PS4)
I may be the only one, but I care not about achievements or gamerscore. I play the game, I beat the game. If I want, I may replay.
@Dijita and then Nintendo did what Nintendo does and ballsed it up with the Switch. I love Nintendo to bits but they're so f**king stupid sometimes.
@Dijita yup 3DS is still king of the play log. Can see what hame i played on what day and for how long and rank them all. Also how many times a game was booted up and the average play session. Only issue with it was it included things like the playlog itself, settings and the store etc in the rankings.
Something like this for Xbox would be incredible.
I've been saying for a long time that Microsoft should give the achievements an uplift. They have never really changed anything since they first came out.
