Ever since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media (Bethesda's parent company) for $7.5 billion, there have been ongoing rumours about who they'll be adding to the Xbox Game Studios line-up next.
Over the past 24 hours, there's been speculation the next studio joining Microsoft could be the Dying Light developer Techland.
It seems it's now been shut down by the Polish company's community manager via Twitter. In the tweet, it's even mentioned how the "same rumour" was doing the rounds on the net a year ago (as you might recall) and nothing has changed.
"I'm getting a lot of dm's about Dying Light acquisition so I'll answer here: There was the same rumour floating around the internet one year ago and the situation didn't change - Techland is an independent studio and it was not acquired by another publisher"
These types of rumours have also been fueled by multiple stories that Microsoft has plans for another sizable acquisition - with rumours it has been in talks with at least one major company. A YouTuber even hinted at surprise exclusive.
Techland is currently hard at work on Dying Light 2, which is expected to arrive on Xbox platforms this year. It's previously worked on games like Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
So this apparently rules out Techland. What are your own thoughts about the above tweet? Which company do you think could be linked to all these rumours? Tell us down below.

Techland and Ubisoft should try to make f2p game like "Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West". Techland has "Call of Juarez", Ubisoft experiments with f2p games.
It will be simple PvP game (Team Deathmatch main mode). On market we have Red Dead Online PvP, it is "rough", with "aimbot" -dead eye. We need something casual and free that runs like on simple "Call of Duty" mechanics "shoot and run".
From last games Wild West "Showdown" event in Rainbow 6 Siege was very engaging, Crytek "Hunt Showdown" is focused on Battle Royale.
One day I hope to play good f2p PvP ARCADE in Wild West setting =)
I just don't see why Microsoft would want another exclusive zombie IP on Xbox. We already have Undead Labs working on State of Decay 3, so this just doesn't make sense considering Microsoft is looking to diversify its portfolio.
In the Gamerant article though, they wrote: "As many are aware, rumors of Microsoft's effort to acquire a studio from Poland have been swirling in late 2019".
If they are looking to acquire a studio located in Poland, it could very well be Bloober Team given how they just released their latest game exclusive to Xbox. And Microsoft doesn't have many horror IPs, so it would make sense to invest in acquiring more franchises from that genre.
@LtSarge It seems every other day, a new developer or publisher gets tossed into the rumour mill of the next acquisition by Microsoft. I think most of Japan is already on it along with Ubisoft, Techland, Playtonic and Warner Interactive. At some point these people have to ask how realistic all of this really is, no matter how much disposable cash Microsoft has.
@FragRed I think the reason why all these rumours are popping up is because Microsoft is currently meeting and discussing with people from various companies regarding potential acquisition. Then when other employees see or find out about this, they think it must mean that their company is being acquired and "leak" this even though it doesn't have to mean anything. It could just mean that Microsoft wants to know if the company in question would be interested or not and then they discuss internally which studio would be the most beneficial for a buyout. Because it has already been confirmed by Microsoft's CEO that the company will continue to look for more studios to acquire:

So it's not like these rumours don't hold any water. People are just noticing that Microsoft is reaching out to companies and then speculation arises. I'm fairly certain that a meeting between Techland and Microsoft representatives has indeed taken place recently, which is why this rumour emerged. But nothing is set in stone yet, I'm sure of that.
Surely if MS are after another studio, they want one that can offer plenty of content for Game Pass, not a studio that has put out barely any games since 2015.
Ah but rumours also state Xbox could be making Dying Light 2 an Xbox exclusive, or timed exclusive, and they haven't ruled that out in the tweet.
