EA is taking another stab at competitive multiplayer with Knockout City, a unique spin on the game of dodgeball, coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on May 21.
Coming under the EA Originals label, Knockout City has two teams fighting competitively in a frantic game of dodgeball. Players can form crews and work together to take down the opposition, unlocking a wealth of customisable items.
“Whether it’s three-versus-three, four-versus-four, or free-for-all quick matches in Street Play, competitively ranked games in League Play or a hosted experience in a Private Match, the fight to take down rival Crews takes many forms. In Knockout City, players start every match on a level playing field and need to rely on skill to dominate the competition. A solid Crew is also the difference between dishing out punishment and taking it. The game is easy to pick up and play, but practice is key to mastering positioning, timing and teamwork for dodgeBRAWL dominance.”
When Knockout City slam dunks it’s way onto Xbox systems this May, a free trial will also be available to give players a taste of the experience. Those who purchase the full game will be granted access to all available modes and maps, along with cross-play and cross-progression support. It definitely sounds and looks very similar to the recently launched Rocket Arena, but let’s hope it has more lasting power.

It's incredible how dull a game can look from the start. Everything about this looks cash-grab and passionless.
It's Splatoonjala with balls. Yay?
You know it's truly bad when most of the game's personality comes from the disposable characters created for the advert, and not from anything in the game.
