I love it when someone else says I can't play a game anymore.
This is why I'll never support gamepass and would quit gaming before doing so.
@Menchi They aren't saying you can't play a game anymore.
They're saying that to play it, you now have to purchase it. And can probably do so for a discount that is larger than the cost of your Game Pass membership.
@SuperKMx Pay twice to play it isn't my bag
@Menchi I mean, you're not paying twice because your subscription provides more than that one game, and you get a 20% discount on the asking price when the game leaves Game Pass, but alright.
Or you know just complete the game and get what you want out ofit in the months and months(if not more) its on gamepass... But I sense you are trying and failing to find the negatives about gamepass haha.. SuperKMx said it all pretty well
@SuperKMx Still takes away what was originally offered and requires a 2nd payment to maintain. Then multiply that by X amount of times they remove a game you want, which based on these articles, is likely a lot.
Damn, need to play goose game and Turing test! Cheers for the heads up! Luckily they're not too long according to HLTB
Does anyone know when mutant year zero is leaving? I saw it on leaving soon but must have missed the article, I don't think I'll have time for that one
I might be the only person bummed about losing Ticket to Ride... but I have the DLC for that game!
Also need to play more of Untitled Goose Game as I only briefly started it.
@ralphdibny It's gone unfortunately. I don't believe Microsoft ever formally announced these eight games were leaving (they just appeared on the app).

@Menchi the value of games I have completed on Game Pass this year is over $400(counting sale prices not even full price) and the subscription has cost me $88. You’re definitely wrong about GP.
@FraserG ah fair enough cheers! Almost a good thing it's just gone already though so I don't have to think/worry about trying to fit it in somewhere in a couple days!
Am I just lucky or does GP get better for everyone each month? They always add more games I want to play than they remove.
@Menchi first off you get a discount on all games that are on GP if your purchase it. Ergo the discount is covers the sub portion of the price. Sure it’s a payment method but it’s more of a try before you buy.
Secondly, first parties never leave the service period. If you sub for Microsoft Flight Sim; it’s never leaving the Service. If you do choose to purchase it because you liked it you can as well. But they don’t leave what so ever.
Edit: clarity
Game Pass seems to be a surprisingly polarizing topic. I think part of the reason some people dislike gp while others find it to be a tremendous value is that we all consume games in different ways.
If you are the type of player that plays through games going from one to the next as you finish each game or the type of player who likes to try lots of different games without committing, gp can represent a tremendous value.
On the other hand, if you are the type of player that likes to replay games or simply play through games slowly without pressure than gp is much less attractive.
I am squarely in the latter camp. I converted 3 years of gold to gp and have access to gp through 2023 but I rarely actually use it. For one thing, I rarely find games I am interested in there. A large volume of games doesn't always translate into something to play. When I do find something I want to play, it often leaves before I can finish it.
Is it worth the $1 I paid for it for 3 years? Yes, definitely. Would I pay $10-15/mo for it? No. It is a terrible value for me.
Lastly, I would just say that the discount you receive when a game exits gp isn't very compelling. It is almost always off the full price of the game and the sale prices of those games are generally much lower than that.
To be clear, I am not complaining. I think it is great for some people. I just don't see it as the ultimate form of gaming it is sometimes described as. If gaming starts to push towards a subscription-only model that would be deeply troubling for me.
Turing Test is awesome and totally worth playing. Puzzle solving plus walking sim, with some portal vibes. It’s not too long either.
Oh no, will need to play some more of untitled goose game!
@RBRTMNZ @mousieone @Carck @SuperKMx
Menchi is a PC troll who likes to come to these websites & start ?!$&. He does it at Push Square, as well. I hit the “ignore” button on him long ago. I see that was a good idea after seeing all of your responses to him. Lol.
@Kefka2589 Yeah I don’t know it’s the rental base nature of the service. For me it’s a tool though. I try a ton of games that I never would have because they aren’t my style etc.
For casual gamers or gamers who don't have a lot of time then I don't think gamepass or ps now is for them as most games will disappear before they can get round to playing it, also it's not for those who like to collect games and build a backlog and always have their games ready to play whenever they want.
I'd like to see the seperate figures on how many people have used gamepass on pc, xbox and mobile as I think Xcloud hasn't gone down as well as they hoped for on mobile (due to most mobile users being casual and put off spending £30 plus on a controller to play it, then the latency of the Bluetooth and 4G)
@UltimateOtaku91 I don’t know about that. What wasn’t reported yet is that about 8 more games are getting touch controls. And none of them are first party. Why do it if it wasn’t a success? First party games is one thing but third parties?
I think with Gamepass is actually pretty great for many “casual gamers” because they don’t have to get upset when they don’t have time play a game, and it offers a perfect way to try before you buy. But “Casual gamer” is also a fairly broad term. For those that only one annual game no I think your right about that crowd.
@mousieone yeah sorry when I say casual gamer I'm talking about those that play 2-3 games a year and mainly use their consoles for other media.
Thing with Xcloud for me is that the games with touch screen controls werent very good to me, maybe others can get used to it but for those who are used to using a controller then it will definitely be a big turn off. I borrowed my mates xbox one controller and and bought a phone clip off ebay but the games kept stuttering especially the sound which was apparently latency due to the Bluetooth connectivity which was a let down for me but luckily only cost me a £1 to sign up for gamepass, but I recently bought a razer kishi and decided to re subscribe to gamepass for a month and now feels way better and much more comfortable to play games and feels more kin to playing the switch. But to get to this point it's cost me £80 to enjoy gamepass on mobile which most people won't do.
Oh no! Suddenly there's a time slot for cooperating Untitled Goose Game.
@stuie123 And that's fine.
There are some games I absolutely need to own. And then there are others that I'm okay with renting. Same for films. I'm okay with renting some movies, but others I need to own.
@stuie123 Cool, then just subscribe gamepass for a month and not a year or longer. Smh
@Menchi ok
@Kefka2589 I’m actually more upset when I buy a new game and don’t play it than if I’m too busy for Gamepass. I have plenty of titles that I have started or kind of started. I lack time for anything sometimes. Don’t play GP all well... don’t play a new game it’s like ._. (Granted I buy new less and less these days and wait for reviews/sales there are a few that get me though...)
@UltimateOtaku91 Well here in the states there was a program that if you go the new Samsung it came with a controller. I also think the controllers made for phone like 8Bitdo work a little better than the straight Xbox one buuut yeah it could be pricey for an experiment.
Crap gotta try out MK before it leaves.
Hopefully this means Mortal Kombat 11 drops next year.
Of those.... I tried Untitled Goose Game (pretty decent game until it got to hard) . MudRunner (which i found too slow to be enjoyable)
