Now this is Podracing! Aspyr has announced that after releasing 1999 cult classic Star Wars Episode 1: Racer on Nintendo Switch and PS4 earlier this year, the game is finally arriving on Xbox for the first time.
In fact, it's available right now!
If you've never played it, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer is based on the Podracing sequence from the 1999 film Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, and allows you to race as one of 25 characters (including young Anakin Skywalker) across tracks spanning eight different worlds such as the iconic Tatooine.
Here's what Elizabeth Howard, vice president of publishing at Aspyr had to say about the release:
“We released Star Wars Episode l: Racer on Switch and PS4 earlier this year and were thrilled to see the positive response among those playing for the first time, as well as fans of the original, all of whom couldn’t get enough of this adrenaline-pumping favorite.
“Now, we’re finally bringing it to the Xbox fans so they can join the race, put the pedal to the metal, and experience a beloved classic Star Wars game.”
You can pick up Star Wars Episode 1: Racer on the Microsoft Store for £12.49 / $14.99.

I'd be really excited about this if it had at least been given the Xbox one X enhancement treatment. Played a lot of this on the N64.
EA play has this so will this be in gamepass come Nov 10th? At least you'll get a discount right?
@Mckilmer yeah this was vs big game on the N64. I love Mario 64, Mario Kart and star wars shadow of the empire...that was a great game
@Krzzystuff It's not part of EA Play on console, so I'm assuming not. This is a separate release from a different developer that has specifically ported the game over to consoles.
@FraserG ah what's up with that? So i can play it on PC through GPU then since EA play is included on Nov 10th? Trying all my Cheapo Philipo moves here to play this without spending any more money
@Krzzystuff I'm not quite sure how it'll work on PC! But in any case, EA Play isn't joining Game Pass for PC until December.
@FraserG thanks for the update. I'll wait for December then to see if I can play it there.
the on PS4 the game had some massive trophy problems i hope this is something which is behind them with the xbox release as its a really cool game
Got this when it originally released on the N64 and now have the Switch Version... It's a classic racer in my view. Well worth the asking price..
Like others have said, I had this way back when it first released on the N64. But I wasn’t a big fan of it then & I highly doubt that it’s held up well.
And if they wanted my $, they should have supported the Xbox when it was released on other platforms. I may have given it another chance.
Loved this on the PC. Bought it on the switch but haven't played much, maybe when it's on sale.
@ultraviolet every single achievement unlocked fine for me
@K1LLEGAL excellent to know thanks
Nice, it's the kind of game I prefer with achievements and without the on-the-go element I use my Switch mainly for.
