Microsoft has announced that Project xCloud is coming to Xbox Game Pass in September at no extra charge for Ultimate subscribers, allowing you to play "over 100 titles" via the internet on your phone or tablet.
The feature will be available in supported countries (yet to be announced), and will include the ability to play the highly-anticipated Halo Infinite via the cloud streaming service when it launches this Holiday.
"Cloud gaming in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate means your games are no longer locked to the living room. You can connect more than ever with friends and family through gaming. And just like you do with your movie and music streaming services, when cloud gaming launches into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can continue your game wherever you left off on any of your devices."
Excited for this? Let us know if you'll be using Project xCloud when it launches in September below.

This is HUGE! Gamepass was already a phenominal deal and now its even moreso! Been using Xcloud for months and while I'm sad to see it not be free anymore, it's a great service.
Beat that overpriced ps+ lol this is the best pro-consumer service for exclusives and great 2nd/3rd party titles for both studios and consumers in these dark times. Xcloud is just the cherry on top...Phil Spencer is really giving the choice of platform with the player centric approach by not forcing millions of gamers to upgrade day one.
I think everyone saw this one coming, would had been silly to make xCloud a third paid service.
I might give the service a test drive, but in my experience, my local internet is just too slow for these kind of streaming services. Input lag is just intolerable for me.
What I’m more interested on is in-home streaming upgrades, being able to stream games from my X1X on my PC, or hell, would be awesome if I could stream those games to my VCR X1.
@Z3u5000 to be “fair” PS Now is 10 a month and that includes GamePass like downloads (for some titles, I think...) Thats cheaper than Ultimate.
Problems with PSNow is they drag their feet to add any first party games to the service, why would any third party give them titles when Sony themselves refuse to include their own games?
@Tharsman It was an overpriced and abandoned service back when gamepass wasn’t there. But biased media will still pick a flaw in how much value you are getting right now from gamepass. They can’t just appreciate any pro-consumer step from xbox. But this is a big win for Microsoft’s leverage on Cloud.
Game Pass is a great deal already but with xCloud it only gets better.
I think that Gold will be phased out and that there will be two subscriptions:
Games with Gold will disappear but our collection remains. The Xbox and 360 games are ours and the Xbox One games will be playable with any subscription.
@Z3u5000 when PSNow launched it was insane, you paid 10 a month and still had to pay overpriced rent to play anything. It was the most ridiculous service offering I seen in my life. I don’t think they will ever outgrow that initial negative reaction (you only get one chance at making a good first impression.)
Since they have copied GamePass with game downloads, and a poor man’s Netflix like library... it’s similar to Game Pass minus the first party commitment.
You play new games day one with Xbox Game Pass. All Xbox Game Studios titles launch into Xbox Game Pass the same day as their global release, so you decide whether to purchase each game separately or play them all with your Xbox Game Pass membership. Xbox Game Studios franchises that will launch into Game Pass day one of release include Halo, Forza, Age of Empires, Gears of War, Minecraft, Hellblade, The Outer Worlds, Psychonauts, Microsoft Flight Simulator, State of Decay, Wasteland, Minecraft Dungeons andSea of Thieves—and more new franchises in early development. So, when Halo Infinite launches, you and your friends can decide whether to purchase the game or play it with Xbox Game Pass.
Makes sense with the 8bitdo controller coming out then as well.
Very excited to see this continue to grow.
Not really into Xcloud but happy for those who are..
Nice move from MS, I hope xcloud services would come to my country.
This is great... but I am a little worried that it will affect the games that come to Game Pass, it has been a great run, I hope the quality and variety doesn’t drop In order to cover an additional service.
@themightyant Xcloud basically uses Xbox Series X in server blades, with many times better encoding performance. They have already demonstrated it this year.
Not super excited about Xcloud but considering I have been paying for ultimate anyways, it'll definitely be something that I try out.
Game Pass just keeps getting better.
Not xcloud on apple currently 😢
I hope it's available soon on iphone & ipad 🙏🏻
I'm so excited I've wet myself.
@zane547 the PC xcloud client has been in testing for a while now (works really well ) I assume it would be fully released by the time this change is made in September.
This is great!
I remember listening to Phil do an interview and talking about how they keep testing xcloud in different areas of the world where Xbox isn’t really a thing. I think the long term hope is that, by making this subscription with xcloud a thing, they can bring Xbox to millions of people they wouldn’t normally reach (in areas where Xbox consoles just aren’t popular). In places like South America, Asia, and Africa people might be willing to try a stream service who would never buy an Xbox. If successful they might find a drastically increased revenue stream, and making a bundled package ensures high revenue.
Maybe? Just a thought.
@zane547 Awesome! Yeah with a wired connection and fast internet it's damn near flawless. I've noticed in my time with it on a PC that connecting to an HDMI source does add a bit more input lag but it's still very minimal and works great!
