It's official! Microsoft has announced that a new Fable is on its way exclusively to Xbox Series X and PC as part of today's Xbox Games Showcase event, and the game will also be available with Xbox Game Pass.
As rumoured, it's being developed by Forza specialists Playground Games, but very few details have been revealed, and even the trailer above is just a (very pretty) teaser for now. Here's what the blurb says:
Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places.

I just hoped they could have showed a bit more than announcing it exists, was the one game I was looking forward to seeing.
Hopefully at the event later in the year get to see a bit more.
I hope we will see more soon or it is just a teaser for 2022.
GET IN! Great ending to the Showcase
@Grot No Xbox One mentioned so likely 2022 at the earliest in that case, but hopefully not the end of 2022 lol.
If this was a surprise it would've been mind blowing. The problem for most of us, we follow the industry so closely that we knew it was coming. Because we 'knew', the lack of any gameplay or at least something more was disappointing.
We allready knew this in 2018 and still no gameplay
If this is as good as the first 3 I may be getting a new Xbox. Maybe. Too many games already though.
At least, it is officially confirmed .
Glad it’s confirmed but don’t expect it before Xmas 2021 at the earliest 2022 more likely ☹️
I just hope can can do it as good as Lionhead
Was hoping for some more from the reveal, since we all pretty much knew it was coming. Can't complain though, I am really excited that it exists.
Need one gameplay shot just one.
Fable, what a great game that was!
That only will do it for me to buy a xbox X.
But please show me something in game lol.
@Kohaku I think the reality is that it is just a teaser for 2022. They just started building the second playground team two years ago. It takes time to get going on these things.
To me that’s not bad though. I want them to build a great one.
@xMightyMatt14x Same here, I prefer that they take as much time as needed.
This was my highlight of the show. I love Fable, so I was getting nervous towards the end with nothing shown yet. And when it happened I got super excited! 😁
Would have loved to have seen some actual gameplay.
@GunValkyrie indeed, the moment she met her demise via a big fat frog with a posh English narrator going on about not all endings being happy, I knew playground wasn't going grim dark and keeping fables humor and soul a bit daft. Overall delighted by that reveal! My first ever xbox 360 game was Fable 2, and it gave me escapism and laughs during a very depressing part of my life, it means a lot to see it come back
@BlueOcean agreed, and how long have people waited for FF7 remake or Cyberpunk for example? I'm more than happy to see time given to polish and perfect games. By the time PS5 and XSX hit with some launch stuff it will be weeks away from 2021, 2022 won't seem as far off. That's the way I'm looking at it anyway.
@TanaD Absolutely.
