If there's one upside to the boredom induced by self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic, it's that we finally have time to dig into our Xbox backlogs and explore some great games. There are a bunch of free titles on offer this weekend as well, so let us know if you'll be taking advantage in the comments below.

As I mentioned in the Pure Xbox forums the other day, I've been trying to get into Kingdom Hearts III. The problem? I've never played any of the others, and the backstory is confusing to say the least. The complexity of the narrative intrigues me though, and I'm really enjoying the gameplay so far. Additionally, the recent arrival of Disney Plus in the UK is making me want to play it even more.
I've also rediscovered the joys of original Xbox backwards compatibility on Xbox 360 recently. I've been playing past favourites such as Burnout 3: Takedown, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 and Pro Evolution Soccer 5, and they're just as much fun as they ever were. Now if only they'd turn the online servers back on...

One game that really needs my attention this weekend is Ninja Theory's Bleeding Edge. I've seen so much cool footage of it across various social channels this week, it's about time I gave it a go. Thanks, Xbox Game Pass! I'm also planning to set sail in Sea of Thieves to celebrate its second anniversary. Maybe I'll finally buy a pet bird or monkey and drop some coin on that Joanna Dark figurehead.

This weekend I’ll be jumping into Bleeding Edge to see how Ninja Theory’s online brawler compares to other offerings in the genre - I’m loving what I’ve seen of the art style so far and have pretty high hopes for this one. Elsewhere, I’m going to be getting stuck into a couple of other recent Game Pass offerings with the excellent The Surge 2 and Ace Combat 7 top at my list of priorities.
I’ve also noticed Kona sneaking onto Game Pass - a game I reviewed when it first released - and one I highly recommend if you’re looking for a change of pace. With a few more achievements to mop up in Ori and the Will of the Wisps and a hardcore run of Doom Eternal also beckoning, I’ve certainly got plenty to keep me entertained during this ongoing lockdown period. I hope everyone is doing ok out there and staying safe - have a good weekend if you can!
Which Xbox games will you be playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Some more Modern Warfare for me on the Xbox One with my son. Other then that not much happening video game wise as my roommates and I have decided to start a Dungeon and Dragons campaign as well since we are all on lockdown.
Super Smash Bros. (N64) - Been working on trying to unlock Ness and complete the boarding the platforms challenges.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (3DS) - I was going to play 007, but this just came in the post....
Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles HD (Windows Phone) - Those sewer levels can rot in hell...
Ori and the blind forest, Also can't seem to put down Animal Crossing
Panzer Dragoon Orta: the release of the remake inspired me to play through this classic again. The One X version is really incredible.
Apex Legends: As always.
Gears 2: My wife and I are going to finish our play through and head to Gears 3.
I am currently playing Doom 64.
Just Animal Crossing and Bleeding Edge when I can pull myself away from my island.
Edit: And Panzer Dragoon, which is excellent
Trying to finish Dead Space 2 on Xbox One.
On Switch it’ll be Doom 64
On Gameboy (!) Super Mario Land (my son’s taking his first tentative steps into gaming in a Gameboy Color. He now likes playing it through the Gameboy Player on my GameCube!
I'm playing Pikmin 3 this weekend, which is much better than I remembered, even though the controls are a step downward from the first two.
Als playing Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Two Point Hospital.
DOOM Eternal on Xbone and Animal Crossing on Switch.
I’ll be playing Life is Strange 2 this weekend- I’m about halfway through the 3rd chapter now. Haven’t quite figured out what Switch game I’m playing from my backlog since I’ve decided I should get through some of it before the end of May 😁
I'm finally getting stuck into Modern Warfare. I'm not much for multiplayer, particularly with FPS games like this, but I always enjoy the campaigns for what they are!
Finally may start Modern Warfare. Really looking forward to getting into this one.
Also, making some progress on Jedi Fallen Order. I'm really having a good time with this one so far. The gameplay, even though it's nothing new, is really fun, and the characters are great too.
When I'm not playing those two, I'll be getting a few rounds of Gears 5 multiplayer in. Have a good weekend everybody, and stay safe.
Xbox one - Resident Evil 2.
Switch - Animal Crossing, Psikyo shooting stars Bravo.
