Those beady-eyed folks over at Reddit have spotted something a little bit out of the ordinary on one of Major Nelson's recent videos.
It appears that the Major is playing with a yet-to-be-released version of the Xbox One system software that allows for tiles to be made transparent. Ever since the system allowed for custom backgrounds to be used, hardcore customisers have been crying out for the ability to change the opacity of the dashboard tiles. It seems that the functionality is on the way, although we've no idea as to when it will be released.
Still, it's nice to know that request hasn't passed Microsoft by. We'll bring you news of the next dashboard update just as soon as we have it.

Sweet! This is just what we needed - now we'll actually be able to see a lot more of our wallpapers. I have this option on my Windows phone and it does look really great if you choose the right wallpaper and coloured tile combination.
Never thought of this but its a real cool feature.
Custom themes are not available yet?
@Josero Custom backgrounds have been around for a while, especially if you're part of the dashboard preview program.
Like this option! The tiles take up too much of the screen and make the background difficult to see.
@Josero - the custom backgrounds were part of the November release I believe. I've got the preview program so had this early anyway.
