List is missing
1. Nobody Saves the World
2. Midnight Fight Express
Nothing really catching my eye until April with Stalker. Hopefully we get a few surprise releases
Definitely looking forward to STALKER, Redfall, and Starfield, but my most hyped Xbox game for 2022 is Plague Tell Requiem. Absolutely loved the first game and this one looks to go bigger
Pidgeon Simulator is my game of the year
Even though I can barely motivate people on my friends list to play some coop shooters with me, Anacrusis looks like another nice game to spend some time in - although the gunplay seems far too stiff right now.
Stalker 2 gives me the creeps just looking at it, but I surely want to play it.
Edit: Ooh, forgot about Atomic Hearts. Looks awesome.
Really looking forward for sniper elite 5. Great setup and replayability ahead. Love that series.
Missing also:
ARK II
I know it's going to be a XBOX exclusive, not sure about a day one Game Pass release though. Has any announcement being made on that?
❤
Not much for me, changing approx this year after a year of gamepass. Stopping subscription and buying only what I really really want new games.
FH5 only really did it for me for year 2021.
Not much on the horizon for 2022, maybe apart from Starfield which if AAA amazing will buy.
This is across all three consoles, no subscriptions based stuff, just the top cream AAA to buy for each console.
So far lining up for definite
HFW
BOTW 2
Then will take it from there.
Wow Scorn looks very cool. Love alien type stuff. Big
H.R. Giger fan. Pigeon Simulator...now that's my kinda game hehe. Big thx for this list, you pby saved me some money.
I’m most exited for the games that will drop on Gamepass that we don’t know nothing about. That is also an aspect of Gamepass I really love. I have played so many surprises this year.
Windjammers 2, Starfield and Scorn for me.
Forza Motorsport November 2022 😉
Can't wait for Starfield and Redfall..
Sniper elite v, Atomic heart, Scorn. My picks outside of the obvious (starfield etc)
I'd prefer avowed.
Top 20 Xbox games to play in 2022
1. Hogwarts Legacy
2. Starfield
3. Redfall
4. Forza Motorsport
5. Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League
6. Gotham Knights
7. Dying Light 2
8. Stalker 2
9. Atomic Heart
10. Plague Tale 2
11. Replaced
12. Trek To Yomi
13. Rumbleverse
14. FF Stranger of Paradise
15. Somerville
16. Deathloop
17. Elden Ring
18. Eiyuden Chronicle Rising
19. CrossfireX
20. Saints Row
From the list above, looking most forward to Stalker 2, A Plague Tale Requiem, Atomic Heart, Replaced and Somerville.
As @Ocat said though, it's the unknowns that can be the most exciting. If i think back to December 2020 and the amount of games that i've played this year that weren't known to be coming to Gamepass then it's quite a few. Lots of indie gems and some big releases (FH5 wasn't even announced then)
If 2022 is anywhere near as good as 2021, i'll be a very happy (and busy) gamer
Windjammers 2 and Redfall are the ones I'm most hyped for.
@Chaudy I was going to say the same thing with nobody saves the world. The demo was awesome, but that shouldn’t be surprising coming from the Guacamelee guys
Nobody saves the world, plagues tale 2, redfall, starfield, atomic hearts and Somerville for me at the moment. Hopefully hellblade 2 and an obsidian rpg (any) too as well as some unexpected indie hits as usual with game pass.
My GP subscription runs out very shortly and think I'll hold back until November before subscribing again (thinking Starfield and isn't Deathloop in November too?). What's odd is I'll have a supper powered console under my TV and nothing to play on it for almost a year!
I'm also hoping being unsubscribed will mean I'll be eligible for the GP offers that usually come in to nonsubscribers
Starfield and Elden ring are my most hyped games for 2022 but there are many more great games i am looking forward to
Trek to Yomi looks incredible. Really looking forward to that and Atomic Heart.
@Chaudy Perfect, thank you!
In the end of 2020 we didn't have a release date for Psychonauts 2 and Forza Horizon 5 was nothing more than rumors. I'm sure we will get a couple of surprises in 2022 as well. At least one game that we know is in development will release next year, and I bet it's either Forza Motorsport, Hellblade 2 or both.
@antstephenson Love your RentaGhost avatar
Impressive list to start with , and these are only the ones that got confirmed, gonna be a great year, paid up for 3 years of gamepass again, not gonna be disappointed.
Meh. Outside of Starfield, which we don't know much about yet, I'm not excited about much. Hopefully there will be some surprise announcements.
They got rid of 3 Yakuza games for... this?
Anyone have any idea what they are adding at the beginning of the month of January? They normally do a drop between the 1st and the 5th, and another one mid month.
Updated the list ahead of February! 👍
Starfield, Stalker 2, A Plague Tale Requiem and Redfall are my highlights moving forward. If these are the only games on Game Pass I check out this year its still cheaper than buying the games individually. Gotta love it!
Starfield is the biggie for me but also interested in Stalker2, Scorn and Redfall. I expect Forza Motorsport to be announced and released after a 5yr absence as well.
No doubt the year will look much more impressive as and when more games lock in dates and all the other 'surprises' that come, I know I'll get MUCH more than spending the same money just to play 2 games - but that's me and my situation...
I wonder if Hellblade 2, Avowed or Outer Worlds 2 could release too. Outer Worlds 2 maybe won't take 'too' long with all assets from the first already created - unlike Fable or Perfect Dark who no doubt have to start from scratch.
No doubt they'll be something 'big' every month - whether its a first party exclusive or third party multi-platform release. If one month doesn't 'appeal', I still have so many other games to finish...
I counted 12 I want to play in January alone. Insane!
Need to either:
A) meet the Doctor and use his blue police box
B) meet the other Doc and use his DeLorean
C) find a hyperbolic time chamber
D) win the lottery
Honestly Game Pass is so so good, but it’s starting to hit my FOMO pretty hard. Too much to play, not enough time. That’s not a complaint, just an honest statement.
@FraserG hope you are feeing a bit better today 👍
@themightyant Thank you!
Redfall and Tunic are what I'm looking forward to most.
I thought The Medium was Xbox exclusive? Why is it leaving?
@GuyinPA75 Nah, it's been on PS5 since last September as well. The only games that are (usually) guaranteed not to leave Game Pass are games published by Xbox Game Studios — despite being a timed Xbox exclusive, The Medium was published by Bloober Team.
Lookng forward to
1) Stalker 2
2) Trek to Yomi
3) Scorn
4) Starfield
5) Eiyuden Chronicle-Rising
6) Sniper Elite 5
Not here to bash it obviously I frequent Push Square more frequently but this list is absolute ***** as it comes to new releases with an actual release date. So while sure outer wilds, Marvel’s Guardians, Hitman and Deaths Door are excellent they have last year or earlier. All the good ***** is TBD.
@motorrik6 Tunic ain’t coming-gonna have to pay $20 for that
@ps5gamer even putting that aside, outer wilds was already on the service. Having a game re-added in my opinion is a worse offense than just adding a new albeit worse game.
Impressive list. January and March have a lot of bangers and making up for a distinct lack of first party. Redfall seems likely for a delay too. Will need more months like those if they aren't putting out first party games.
Wanted to play the hitman trilogy but i go to download it, there's about 10 downloads that start and all of them are hitman 3.
1 and 2 are just completely missing.
Didn't understand, so i didn't even bother with it.
@ps5gamer Never forget that GamePass is 10.99 / month.
Gran turismo 7 + 1 car download costs more than an entire year of GamePass.
And this list is new games, not existing ones.
By PlayStation logic, you only need 1 good game on GamePass to make it financially worthwhile.
@Dsswoosh I think the hitman games are quite famous for the convoluted way they have added the older games to work with the newest versions but if download the game on gamepass they are all there.
Looking forward to As Dusk Falls hopefully it's not delayed
@Pac_Bot Not for me. I get hitman 3 and nothing else.
@Dsswoosh they should be. When it's all downloaded you just go to the story section and you can go through the whole game starting from the training mission on the boat at the beginning of Hitman 1.
Needs updating

These are missing;
Nobody Saves the World
Little Witch in the Woods
She Dreams Elsewhere
These should also launch in 2022;
Forza Motorsport 2022
GoldenEye 007 Remaster
@nickwpearce Thanks Nick! Added Little Witch in the Woods and She Dreams Elsewhere (NSTW was already in the January section).
Forza and GoldenEye will have to wait until we get more official information about them. Here's hoping for a 2022 release for both.
Good list!
007 was supposed to be announced in March but the horrible War has delayed that apparently.
Totally understandable...
There are lots of games I'm interested in this list, and game pass is being great. Majority of the games I've finished last year were on Game Pass, this year I'm using it less, but it still worth it.
Finished this year on Game Pass:
Paw Patrol: Save Adventure Bay
The Last Kids on Earth
Halo Infinite (last year on Xbox, this year again on PC)
Currently Playing:
Crossfire X
Tunic
Games I want to play but haven't started or isn't out yet:
Edge of Eternity
Escape Academy
Chinatown Detective Agency
Life is Strange: True Colors
Redfall
Starfield
A Plague Tale: Requiem
Flintlock
Bugsnax
Trek to Yomi
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising
It is great so far.
Xbox should pull a Nintendo and delay all of their games so they can release a hitter or first party title at least once per month. Feel like all of this is going to get crammed at the end of the year. Like Redfall and Scorn might compete in the Halloween space. Hoping they drip one in August and the other in October because once Starfield drops, it's gonna be game over for gaming time on other titles for me.
@Kilamanjaro Nintendo don’t release a hit once a month though…they have many quiet years. I do think Xbox needs to start releasing a AAA a month onto gamepass though. And it’s certainly the plan. Whether they’ll eventually get their management up to the task I don’t know…doesn’t look likely
Should add Deathloop on there too as that’s surely hitting the moment Sonys exclusivity goes
@Bleachedsmiles this was a strategy Nintendo has been following with the Switch that management made explicit back in 2017. They try to get a first party game or exclusive out every month. There were some articles on this on Nintendolife & during their investor meetings (whether they were actual hits is another question e.g. Daemon X Machina). That plus trying to get as many games as possible onto the device as their curation during the Wii U era really burned them with 3rd party support.
List is complete besides
Matchpoint: Tennis Championships (7 July)
Deathloop (1 Year deal expires September)
And these have not been announced but expected in 22
Forza Motorsport
Obsidian's Pentiment
GoldenEye 007
@nickwpearce Thanks, not sure how Matchpoint got missed off the list! None of the others have official dates yet, so going to keep them off for the time being.
Didn't know redfall was this year. I really should get a series x soon
@Envy Not anymore 2023 now
List needs to be fixed by microsoft now lol
Hopefully
Age of Empires (Console)
GoldenEye 007 Remaster
Grounded 1.0
Gears Collection (Rumor)
Fable Collection (Rumor)
Forza Motorsport (Rumor)
Deathloop
Possibly other publishing deals
Very useful list. BTW Loot River is on Twice also in TBD section.
@themightyant Thank you! Removed
I think we have enough 2023 games to start a 2023 list as well ;P)
And about 85% - 90% are NES 8 bit level side scrollers? Awesome!
If enjoy those that's pretty cool. If looking for current gen AAA, heck even AA level games not worth the price in it in my mind.
They really need put out annual deal. 12 months for $100, etc.
@StonyKL Exactly. Microsoft needs offer a deal on annual package. Too expensive with what they offer for $15 month.
I'm in the minority but I was left very unimpressed by Starfield. Another case of overhyped for me I think.
I was very surprised to see Persona, never in a million years would I have believed it, speaking primarily as a PlayStation guy that blew my mind.
And since there was no mention of FF7R I now strongly believe if it hasn't been announced already at what was supposed to be the biggest showcase of the year while the next installment feels eerily close to being announced I don't think it will come to Xbox.
I'd say there isn't really anything yet that has convinced me to pick up a Series X, because I don't have one yet but have considered it due to Sony's recent alarming and annoying decisions and the state of play in my opinion being terrible.
It just felt like a "hey, look how many games we're giving to PC" show and nothing that felt reassuring for the near future of the PS5. My opinion of course. I think it's pretty meh all around at the moment, with the exception of God of War and Hogwarts Legacy there really isn't anything (with an actual release date) I'm looking forward to.
Xbox should follow Nintendo's lead and postpone all of their games so that they may release a hit or first-party title at least once a month. It appears like everything will be jammed at the conclusion of the year. Redfall and Scorn, for example, may compete in the Halloween market. I'm hoping they release one in August and the other in October, since once Starfield comes out, it'll be game over for me in terms of gaming time on other titles.
@GADG3Tx87 well when Microsoft pays you $100 million for a port to make it viable and worth porting then anything is possible
Was super happy to see Peggle on the service on PC. It was literally the first game I downloaded and played. Play almost no other casual games, but I have an irrationally strong addiction to Peggle.
@Chaudy Lol. I missed that this was a republished article with old comments. Your comment from December of top xbox games to play in 2022 has aged like milk in this heatwave. I honestly thought you were taking the piss at first as most of the Top 10 are now releasing in 2023. Shows how quickly things change sadly.
Note to self: Must pay better attention to dates.
@themightyant my list is utter Garbage now.
@Chaudy We live in eternal hope, seemed legit at the time.

@nickwpearce Great work, thanks for this! We've made a few adjustments to the 2022 list although some games are still up in the air with no concrete dates - if they're still not on Game Pass by the end of the year, we'll add them to 2023's list
And yes, we do have a 2023 list! It's not quite as big as yours yet, but some games like Ni No Kuni 2 and Diablo IV haven't yet been confirmed for Game Pass as far as I'm aware. I need to go through it again and see if any changes are required soon...

@FraserG
It's not easy so many games!
You are correct Diablo 4 will only come if the Activision deal is approved next year.
I did as much googling as I could and a few of them are delayed officially but some have been changed from 2022 to TBA... which I thought was strange!
Keep up the good work! 👍
If only they would give us a date for 007 already It's killing me!
Hopefully every Resident Evil game I have not played as yet.
I have played Res Evil:4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Both revelation games.
Also like Golf games and Games like Winter and Summer Olympic games too, muchly appreciated if you could add to Game Pass.
Cheers
David
