Think this is the best gp month so far this year.
Looking forward to Dreamlight Valley, TSW3, slime Rancher 2, Beacon Pines and finally a full version of Grounded.
What a month! One things for sure, I will not have enough time to play them all.
I must be outside XBOX's target audience because other than a handful of games I already own, there is nothing current or planned that I have any interest in at all.
@Kaloudz same here I was really excited about it ... now do I play without getting achievements or just play anyway ..... I will prob play it
Guess I'll check out Grid Legends, but I don't expect much. None of the follow-ups to Race Driver: Grid held a handle to it. Disney Dreamlight Valley also seems like a great pick to play with my daughter.
@Kaloudz yep I know how that's feels oh so well , does it have achievements or rewards associated with it ? No ? Do I really want to play it
I’m looking forward to Grid Legends and Slime Rancher 2. Solid month for me.
Has been quite a while since I was interested in multiple Gamepass games, and will try at least 3 of those this time.
theres a lot of contet but limited AAA games. I have grid legends which would be the only game i was excited about. will give few of them a chance as for me this is the positive thing about game pass. the unexpected gem you unearth.
Can't wait to try grounded (not played at all yet) for the first time and slime rancher 2 will be my first slime rancher game. Looks like great fun!
Remember on the 31st, What Remains of Edith Finch goes from Gamepass.
So that's 3 days to complete it (Doesn't take too long) and get all the achievements. As a bonus it's upgraded for free to the series X version. Only played it once a year ago roughly... It was alright. Definitely worth checking out before it leaves Gamepass. 3 days! Same for 12 minutes I believe? Not so sure on that one...
hopefully there's better game announced for next month... game pass has been dry since july
Looking forward to Grounded
Hardspace shipbreaker peaks my interest.
Folks. Also remember that they haven’t even technically announced the games for this month. This is just the ones we know about!
My sub is ending..
Those games dont make me want to re-sub.
@Tangerine If anyone is interested in 12 Minutes I'd genuinely recommend playing it for an hour so you get a handle on the gameplay then just watching a YouTube walkthrough. It's an interesting idea, quite poorly implemented and not that much fun to play.
Edith Finch on the other hand is a legitimate modern masterpiece, I'd urge anyone to give it a go. It can be done in one sitting.
For me, I'm only really interested in Grid Legends so far this month, but hopefully we get some more added throughout the month.
@evan23 Their target audience is 'Gamers'. Those that enjoy games, whether they are made by small, independent studios or owned, big team AAA studios, whether 1st or 3rd Party etc. Every month, they are offering a LOT of Day/Date games from across the whole range of genres and releases.
If you only play AAA games and/or only play certain genres, not interested in trying anything else despite the fact you can without any additional cost, then maybe Game Pass isn't for you. There are going to be 'months' when there is no big AAA games in the genre/style you 'like', but there will be 'lots' of games added for 'Gamers' to enjoy.
Considering it would cost 'more' to play Grounded (for example) than you pay for a 'month' of Game Pass, yet you can play that and ALL the other games (new & old) for less money is why this is targeting 'Gamers'. Even if you don't like 'Train Sim World' for example, there are 'hundreds' of games available you can play instead. These aren't the 'ONLY' games you can play this month for that 'small' monthly fee!!
Also, with Game Pass Ultimate, I get to play on PC/Cloud too so I can play FH5 on my Mobile when out, play on PC or Console (whatever is most convenient to me) and don't have to buy multiple versions of the SAME game, keep my progression across devices etc too. So whilst 'Train Sim' has zero appeal to me personally, I could play Doom, Skyrim, Halo, Gears, Flight Sim etc on virtually any device, whether I 'bought' the game for that platform or not!! I instantly had a Library of games on Mobile/PC after decades of Console only gaming...
@BAMozzy
Whether it is intentional or coincidental, the games in game pass don't cover all bases. It is more an observation than a criticism and I am not the only one pointing this out.
My time to enjoy games is limited. I don't play games for the sake of playing games. I use that time to play the games I most enjoy playing. Game pass just doesn't seem to have those games for me.
I am not one of the people complaining about slow months. I believe I found a only one game to play the entire time I have been a gamepass subscriber which is over a year.
That is why I made the statement "I must be outside XBOX's target audience" because for me, personally, there simply hasn't been anything worth my time on service excluding the handful of games I already owned.
To be fair, expecting the service to have titles to please every individual gamer isn't reasonable.
@gollumb82 if you like racing games, GRID Legends is well worth your time. One of my favorite games of 2022.
@TheGrizMan
Thanks for the input! I'll check it out definitely, but probably a bit later down the line.
@evan23 Most genres and styles are covered - but then you also need to consider whether or not 'certain' categories that you feel are 'under-represented' are games that MS/Xbox has in abundance. If they only get 1 or 2 JRPG's a generation, then its unlikely to have a LOT of choice or games to offer in that category because there isn't many in the first place and their Publisher isn't interested in Game Pass.
As for having 'time', Many of the games can be played in a few hours - great if you only have short sessions as some games you'll not get very far or achieve a lot in half an hour or so. If you are 'put off' from 100hr+ games because you don't have the time to dedicate to it, there are alternatives.
Its not like you have to try and decide if a game is 'worth' the money and only then is it worth playing or that games are 'so' expensive that you have to be very picky with the games you play. You have to invest 'money' before you can invest time and in some cases, still have to wait for the game to be 'fixed' enough to make the time you invest in it enjoyable enough. With Game Pass, there is NO financial investment required. You can just jump into numerous games and 'try' them. With streaming too, you don't even need to waste 'precious' time downloading/installing games either - can jump straight in, try it out and have fun trying 'new' things.
It offers Gamers a very easy, convenient and cheap way to explore Games, try out new experiences, find 'new' favourites, discover old classics, easier to play with friends as they also have access to all the same games etc etc - its for Gamers! If you only play 1 or 2 games a year that may come to Game Pass, then its not for you but then I wouldn't say that you are a Gamer, more of a casual hobbyist - not an insult, that maybe as a result of time commitments elsewhere (work, family, etc).
Each to their own - I was merely pointing out that Game Pass is for Gamers first and foremost providing a wide variety of games from short to long duration, from Indie to AAA, from 3rd and 1st Party Studio's and has some of the 'biggest' games of the year Day and Date. If you cannot find enough games for that small monthly figure to 'enjoy', then you are not really a Gamer...
@BAMozzy I play a lot more than 1-2 games per year.
The concept that because I don't prefer the game selection offered on gamepass I am not a "gamer" seems flawed.....
That fundamentally means that the definition of "gamer" is someone who likes gamepass.
@evan23 |he definition of a Gamer is someone who enjoys Games and Gaming - both of which Game Pass offers in abundance.
If you can't find 'games' to enjoy on Game Pass, then you can't really call yourself a Gamer. Hundreds of games from the past 20+ yrs of gaming from just about every genre/style of gaming so if there isn't 'Games' on Game Pass you want to Play, then you can't really be a 'Gamer'.
You are basically saying that apart from the 'games' you already own, Game Pass has absolutely Nothing that interests you now or coming up - so you don't 'like' the majority of Games and not interested in playing any of the Hundreds of games on Game Pass, a Service aimed at 'Gamers' to enable them to play more, diversify more, have access to 100's of games 'anywhere', help contribute to 'Game development' through Game Preview/Early Access etc - a Service for 'Gamers' so if you are saying its NOT for you, then you are not a Gamer.
How you can say you don't want to play ANY of the 100's of games in Game Pass and still call yourself a Gamer is beyond me. I wouldn't call someone who only plays CoD or Fifa a Gamer either - just a fanboy of a particular IP that happens to be delivered by the medium of Gaming - just like you can have Marvel Fanboys that are NOT cinephiles, movie geeks and a Movie Pass isn't for them because the films they watch are Marvel.
The point I was trying to make is that if a service that is designed and aimed at Gamers is 'not for you', then maybe you are NOT a Gamer. You started by saying that maybe Game Pass isn't targeting you, and all I did was explain what the 'target' audience is and if that 'isn't' you, then you can make your own conclusions.
I might give Train Sim World a go. it sounds like at least a bit of fun for a rainy Autumnal afternoon
We want Deathloop, it was a Bethesda time exclusive on PS, expiring on 14 September. Was announced for PS Plus service few days ago? 🤷♂️
Metal Hellsinger!!!!
These kind of suck.
gampass looking good going forward ❤️
@Alex79uk I completed and got all achievements for both Edith Finch and 12 minutes in the end. I enjoyed both tbh. 12 minutes was rather different. Glad I played them before they left Gamepass as I doubt I'd have ever purchased them. Backlog so big now I seem to play games about to leave the service Vs playing newly released Gamepass games. Not ideal!
Hardspace shipbreaker is an absolutely cracking game!
Does not seem like a good month, but I get to play through a couple of games a month in general and there is one here I had on my wishlist (GRID: Legends) so I'm ok. There were far "stronger" months that offered zero games to me individually.
It’s been a great month and there may even be a few more announced yet. But 24 games, the majority of which were new releases including Deathloop, Ni No Kini, Metal: Hellslinger and Slime Rancher 2. There’s hundreds of dollars just in new releases this month and a lot of great ones! Keep them coming!
Deathloop and Moonscars before the onslaught in October!
@J_Mo_Money I know, October seems to be a killer month. Many games to choose from!
@HarmanSmith Sad part is October is gonna SUCK for that because I'll be on vacation for a week and October is one of my favorites months because I love Halloween so I gotta fit in all the scary movies and shows and whatnot. Gonna be a busy one.
@J_Mo_Money I, too, love Halloween. Is one of my favorite holidays of the year. And, from a gaming standpoint, this will be a greeeat October.
I hope you enjoy your vacation!
@HarmanSmith Appreciate it. Also gotta squeeze in my token Symphony of the Night run. One of my fav games of all time and Castlevania is a vintage Halloween game for me.
@J_Mo_Money SotN is such a masterpiece (as I side note, I love the music on that one).
Now that you mention it, I am close to finish Circle of the Moon on the Castlevania Advance Collection.
@HarmanSmith yup I only have the newest game to complete on there. Honestly I don't think they hold up very well but I never owned an advance or ds or anything way back when so I had to play them.
Is there plans for valhiem coming to consoles or is that staying on PC?
