Starship Troopers: Extermination arrived on the co-op FPS scene this week, and ever since its Early Access launch on PC, we've seen lots of questions about a console release. The game is live on Steam right now, but is it coming to Xbox?
Is Starship Troopers: Extermination Coming To Xbox?
Right now, the dev team has not confirmed an Xbox version of Starship Troopers: Extermination. However, an FAQ answer from late last year does hint that a console version is definitely on the team's radar.
"Right now the Starship Troopers: Extermination team is focused on the Steam Early Access launch. We're aware of the demand for a console release, but our current goal is working towards its release on PC first. However, not even the Ministry of Paranormal Warfare of Military Intelligence department knows what the future holds!"
That sounds pretty promising to us. Hopefully the 'Ministry of Paranormal Warfare of Military Intelligence department' has an update for us soon.
What Is Starship Troopers: Extermination?
Starship Troopers: Extermination is a '16 player co-op FPS' that pits you and a fairly large squad up against waves of deadly creatures. The team says it is "aiming for the combat experience to feel as if you’re being swarmed by an intensive rush of Bugs", so the experience is probably pretty chaotic when everything gets going.
At the time of writing, the game has just ticked over the 2,000 user review count on Steam, with a "Very Positive" rating right now. Hopefully that reception translates to an Xbox version of Starship Troopers: Extermination in the near future!
"Starship Troopers: Extermination is a 16 player co-op FPS that puts you on the far-off front lines of an all-out battle against the Bugs! Squad up, grab your rifle, and do your part as an elite Deep Space Vanguard Trooper set to take back planets claimed by the Arachnid threat!"
What do you think to this co-op FPS? Let us know if you'd play this one on Xbox!

@Kaloudz
Not sure about that. It’s a very thoughtful parody of facism and being in the meat grinder of war.
I’m kind of surprised this wasn’t developed with crossplay and console releases pre-planned. This seems like the type of game that would greatly benefit from the additional accessibility. Why end at 16-players though? By my count there are 1-million bugs for every trooper. They should totally expand to 64 player survival… make it the largest survival defense game around with bugs swarming. Total mayhem.
@Kaloudz what! Starship Troopers is top 5 films of all time for me, I love it 🤣
The first starship troopers film was excellent the rest of them lets not talk about
Usually I'm not big of "hoard mode" stuff in games at all. But having 16 players in the mi, kinda changes that pretty much from all other games of that style. Could be lot fun.
@CaptainCluck Hear lot people say that. I never got that vibe from watching the movie. Granted was lot younger 20+ years ago. Maybe a re-watch or reading the book would change my mind.
its not a serious movie, its a fun movie. not that hard to figure out tbh.
@Kaloudz Whooooa with that take, lol. It’s an excellent, hilarious, eerily thoughtful satire. Every time I see it I catch something new. I still think it’s creepy how it accurately predicted the post-9/11 Iraqi War.
Highly recommend revisiting it sometime, as it sounds like you were younger when you saw it (my first time was in middle school and I too didn’t realize how clever it was at the time).
@Kaloudz Yea sorry, it’s an American thing and I forgot this is a more UK-centric site. Not everyone does it here but if you do it’s grades 6-8 (so ages 11-13). I think I first saw ST when I was about 11 or 12. Between that, Mimic, Species, Deep Rising, and a bunch of other gory science-fiction films from that era, I was convinced every R-rated movie was nothing but boobs and giant gory monster fights. 😂
@Kaloudz I saw it in theaters when it came out and I still watch and love it to this day. It’s a great movie! My wife and I just watched it last month, it’s so fun.
@Kaloudz It was a popular book that was made into a movie decades later. Paul Voerhoven has made some great ultra-violent, political satire/social commentary movies: Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers. Troopers being my least favorite.
@CaptainCluck so true. I didn't appreciate it when I was younger as it DID seem to be just a stupid sci-fi romp at the time. I really didn't know any better. But watching it as an adult hits very different. The parody aspect went right over my head as a kid, but it is now one of my favourite sci-fi movies. I really hope this comes out on consoles, it looks like an absolute blast... Not to mention the devs very much seem to be catering to the parody aspect and campy "feel" of the movie. Fingers crossed.
Was watching a stream of this game last night, looks a hell of a lot of fun. If it comes to Xbox I’d play.
This wont come to Xbox... been in early access for a bit and almost no progress has been made. It is fun, but it won't get fully developed for pc then ported to xbox, no way, not with the small team they have now
@Kaloudz I can definitely see it going one way or the other for people, but it holds up great for us.
@Kaloudz those are all fantastic choices, I tip my hat to your taste.
@Kaloudz @CaptainCluck The movie is infamously bad. The book is the thoughtful satire you describe. The movie assuming we're talking about the one with Denise Richards (pre being destroyed by Charlie Sheen) it was absolutely horrid and barely related to the book.
@Kaloudz
Subpar SUBPAR!! It’s one of the greatest films ever made!!!
