He's a big brute, this lad, but he's a bit of a pushover when it comes down to the nitty gritty, so let's take a look at how to give him a proper walloping.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: El Gigante Boss Battle Guide

Alright, first up, you'll pass through the quarry and hear El Gigante banging around behind a big metal door a little while before you actually have to square off with him. Pass through the quarry, head to the fish farm, get your motorboat fuelled, defeat Del Lago and then, as you come back through the quarry, it's time to face this big boy.

Phase 1

Get set to do a bit of straightforward dodging in the opening of this fight, making sure to fire off as many rounds into El Gigante's face and body as you can before sprinting to either side to avoid his big old charged attack. You'll also need to hit "B" to evade a few times so be ready to stab the button.

Once you've shot him up a bunch, he'll stop and a large Plagas tendril will pop out of his back. From hereon in we want to focus on this, and the TMP is a good way to get a load of shots in at it when you get a chance.

Keep moving during this phase, picking your moments to shoot the plagas tendril and El Gigante will eventually drop down, allowing you to get in for a RT attack that takes you up onto his back for some stabby good times. If you saved the doggo from the bear trap a little before this scrap, you'll soon get to a cutscene where our good boy pal jumps down into the quarry to lend a hand.

Phase 2

Now that our four-legged friend is here we want to continue to move around, shooting the tendril when it appears and just shooting El Gigante all over when it disappears in order to expose it again. This is a pretty easy battle overall and once you've got him down and stabbed the tendril a couple of times, he'll give up the ghost and lie down for the final time. Easy peasy!

Now, you're free to scour the battlefield for items, so make sure to enter the nearby shack and head into the area where El Gigante was locked up to ensure you don't miss any sweet loot before moving on with your adventure. Good job.
