Psychonauts 2: How To Unlock Photo Mode

With every game these days, photo mode is one of the features many players have come to expect. Luckily, Psychonauts 2 has a photo mode, and while you may be inclined to try it out straight away, it's not as simple as that.

It's a few hours into the game before you can unlock photo mode, and can actually be missed entirely if you're not exploring thoroughly. To avoid disappointment, we've outlined everything you need to do to unlock photo mode.

How To Unlock Photo Mode In Psychonauts 2

To unlock photo mode you will have to have completed the Casino arc of the story. After this, you'll return to the Motherlobe and be tasked to find the split personality of the Ford Kruller. One of these objectives requires you to find a brain for a character called Nick (which we've also highlighted). This mission will lead you outside of the hub area for the first time into the Quarry area, where you'll venture to Otto's Lab over on the right side of the lake.

Once in here, you'll see Otto behind his desk. You can easily avoid him, and go for the brain, but if you talk to him, he'll give you a few gifts - a camera being one of them. From this point onwards you can use photo mode!

How Do I Use Photo Mode?

It's pretty simple. Hold right on the d-pad and you'll bring up the camera. Here you have a ton of options such as changing Raz's expressions, the camera angle, and even filters, which we'll highlight on how to obtain.

How Do I Get More Photo Mode Filters?

Within the Motherlobe you have a couple of vending machines where you can purchase pins, items, and once you have the camera, filters. There's a handful to choose from, including a retro-style theme if you're feeling a bit nostalgic. So feel free to go nuts and experiment with the various options at your disposal.

There's some truly stunning moment in Psychonauts 2 and you're most likely going to want to capture them without the UI in the way. It's a shame it's a good chunk into the game before you obtain one, but better late than never, eh?
