FromSoftware's huge Elden Ring expansion in Shadow of the Erdtree is coming to Xbox very, very soon after what feels like an eternity! Yep, we're pretty hyped about this one - after all, we did grant the base game an "Outstanding" 10/10 score here at Pure Xbox back in 2022.
Ahead of the big launch next week, we're going to break down exactly when you can play, and how to get ready to tackle Elden Ring's major DLC expansion on Xbox.
Here's everything you need to know about Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree on Xbox:

When Does Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Release On Xbox?
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launches on June 21st, 2024 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
What Time Does Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Launch On Xbox?
The release time for Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is midnight local time on June 21. However, US West Coast players will be able to go hands-on at 9pm PT on June 20.

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Xbox Preload
Unfortunately, Shadow of the Erdtree is not pre-downloadable on Xbox.
PlayStation players can download the DLC 48 hours before release, but Xbox and PC players will have to wait for launch to download the add-on.
Do I Need Elden Ring To Play Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC?
Yes, Shadow of the Erdtree is not standalone and is considered an expansion to Elden Ring.
Therefore, Shadow of the Erdtree requires the base game to play - and you'll also need to have progressed through a decent amount of Elden Ring to access the add-on content.
Specifically, you'll need to have beaten the Mohg and Radahn bosses before you dive into the expansion.
Well, that's about it! We wish you all good luck if you're venturing back into The Lands Between, and if you need a little more convincing, we'll drop some extra info on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree down below.
Looking forward to this Elden Ring DLC? Tell us if you're playing it down in the comments!

Was dying for Alan wake 2 night springs to come out I finished the first episode said id play some elden ring just to break up the episodes and haven't taught Alan wake since gonna get everything done to play the dlc just beat radahn last night how is mohg as a boss is he hard I whooped radahn easy enough gonna finally finishing this game off now I have it over two years now and considering I completed each of the dark souls games ina week this is a monkey on my back now ha need to get it done🥷
@Ricky-Spanish I found Mohg to be the tougher fight. He's also one of my favourites from the bosses. Keep pushing man, I'd consider Elden Ring ro be my favourite game of all time. I was consumed by it and it wrecked me at times but still went on to get all the achievements. The last game to blow my mind was Breath of the Wild. I nicknamed Elden Ring to my mates "Death of the Wild"
So Sony are even money hatting pre-load now. /jk? *
If you set your console to New Zealand timezone then you can get early access. How early depends on how far behind New Zealand your region is. For me here in UK, I’ll be able to access the DLC at 1pm Thursday 20th. Can’t wait! Took Friday off work just for this. Just a shame we can’t preload.
