A new Call of Duty game is coming to Xbox in just over a month's time in the form of Modern Warfare 3, and of course, we have an open beta for fans to get stuck into before release.
The MW3 beta has multiple rounds across different systems though, so we're here to break down exactly when you can play on Xbox - both for pre-orders and for those looking to jump into the free, open beta period.
Call Of Duty MW3 Xbox Pre-Order Beta (Release Dates & Release Times)
If you've pre-ordered Modern Warfare 3, or have gotten hold of an early access beta code via other means, you can start playing on October 12th. Here are the full beta release times for the first round on Xbox:
- MW3 Xbox Pre-Order Beta Release Times: From October 12 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST until October 14 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST.
Call Of Duty MW3 Xbox Open Beta (Release Dates & Release Times)
For those of you jumping into the beta once it's open to everyone on Xbox, here are the full beta release times for the second, open-to-all beta session:
- MW3 Xbox Open Beta Release Times: From October 14 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST until October 16 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST.
Of course, pre-order players can continue to play throughout that second open beta period as well, so that's four days in total for those of you who've locked in a pre-order for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox.

I’ll give it a go if I’m not doing anything. I miss these days of the original MW2 maps. I like CoD but they’ve been too greedy with the battle passes, micro-transactions, and ads.
Activision now competing with EA to put in the least amount of development into a new release whilst charging the same full price for a game.
Playing the old MW 2 maps has been fun but this should have just released as a dlc for MW 2 from what I've played of the beta on PS5.
@Rangers420 Yeah, my guess is Acti wanted a retail presence and weighed things up and just thought, it makes more sense to turn it into a full game? It does feel like DLC, but gotta get that new COD out in November 😅
@Kezelpaso Yeah i would have been shocked if they didn't make it a full priced release when it sells so well every year wishful thinking on my part lol
Tempted to give this a go as I was a hardcore fan of MW2 (2009).. but it pains me to give any money to activision considering how greasy they are.
@Maddie47 i agree and would even say the Xbox controller is so much better for just about everything outside of maybe 2D games and fighting games. I have both consoles PS5 and Series X and i buy 98% of my games on Xbox cause of the controller.
@HonestHick Perfectly put... I purchased this converter on amazon to play SF6 on my Xbox with my PS5 controller. But other than that everything plays better with the Xbox controller.
@Stonecold730 does that work good? I would love to try it if it worked. I wish controllers on console was like PC and you could just connect them, but i understand why Sony & MS aren’t going to ever do that. For me i like the PS controllers for 2D gaming only and it makes sense cause the PS controllers have a 2D layout from the 90’s. Xbox controller layout is 3D gaming and it just works so much better for me. I have a PS5 and Series X. I like my PS5, i like my PS 1-4 also but the controllers for all 5 consoles never hit that spot for me that i was like this is my preferred controller. I want to play with this over anything. Xbox has been that for me for 20 years.

It works perfectly... Wingman Converter XB.. Im at work i cant remember off the top of my head. But you can go to youtube and watch multiple videos or people usinig the converter. It cost $50 bucks... but its worth it.
For Street Fighter its perfect! And it has a USB-A connection so you can plug in a figher stick too.

@HonestHick dont jump the gun, Microsoft about to cut off third party developers. I heard by 11/12/2023.. I hope they reconsider.

@HonestHick It still works.. as of 11/28/2023 ... I'm still using my P5 controller on my Xbox! Big Flex...!
@Stonecold730 thats good news. Happy it still works. Sure would be nice if they didn’t disable all those functions.
