Topic: Your Xbox One Launch Lineup

The Halo news is a bummer, but I think the whole conversation about launch lineup is interesting to think about related to past consoles and how your “day one” might have been . I’m not a day one buyer usually - too much hassle, too worried about hardware needing to be fine-tuned - but there’s usually a point when I decide I’m ready, and it’s mostly based on 1-2 games.

Here’s the question - what was your first game / first few games for the Xbox one?

For me, my Xbox one day one was Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5 and Fifa 2016 in late 2015 in some sort of bundle deal. I think Rise of the Tomb Raider was my most anticipated at the time. I don’t remember the 360 launch very well, but Fallout 3 might have played the same role of tipping point game for me.

I bought my Xbox One a few years after the launch. I actually bought mine from a friend who was upgrading to the One X.

The first games I got on Xbox One was Battlefield V, and Rare Replay but I also had a bunch of my 360 library and GwG titles I locked in even though I didn't have an Xbox One.

I bought my One summer 2015 , just ahead of Forza 6 which I was looking forward to a lot (and not disappointed ) The game I got with it at launch was Forza Horizon 2 - boy that looked fantastic ! Loved that game. Not much else - maybe Sunset Overdrive ? I DO remember Rise of the Tomb raider later that year , OMG that was next-gen at its best , Lara looks SOOO gorgeous in that game (still better than Shadow tbh) but I digress ...

For me it was a bundle of launch day One in 2013 with Forza 5 and I also picked up fairly soon after lanch Peggle 2, Titanfall and Wolfenstein The New Order.

For me it was Rise of the Tomb Raider, Rare Reloaded and Sunset Overdrive. I don’t remember precisely when. But it was in the period of time when Rise of the Tomb Raider was exclusive to Xbox.

@Tiger77 Sunset Overdrive was one of my early ones too. Loved that game.

@Ryall interesting to see all of the Rare Replays on this chain. It WAS a pretty amazing value proposition at the time.

@Tiger77 totally agree on how Rise of the Tomb Raider really showed what Next Gen was capable of. It didn’t hurt that the first reboot was amazing.

I got my Xbox One just after launch with a digital copy of FIFA 14, but the first game I actually went out and bought was Ryse: Son of Rome. No regrets!

I got Xbox One as soon as it launched in Finland. My first games were Master Chief Collection and Destiny.

My "launch" game was Rare Replay, I bought the game physically before I bought the console because I couldn't quite believe it.

@BlueOcean I did the same thing you did, I also bought several games before I bought the console back in 2015 simply because they were heavily discounted. The first games I bought were Sunset Overdrive (€7), Halo MCC (€10) and Ryse: Son of Rome (€7). I just couldn't believe these prices so I had to get them. I also bought Rare Replay shortly thereafter for around €20, but that was definitely worth the price since you got 30 games, which is incredible value.

@LtSarge Rare Replay is the best value! I also got The Master Chief Collection and a few others.

The Xbox one was released in Nov 2013 and with it I purchased assassins creed 4 Black flag, the excellent battlefield 4 and Forza 5 on disc and powerstar golf digitally. The launch line up of the Xbox 360 in Nov 05 was a better one when I took hold of my release day console with the very good Call of duty 2, Perfect Dark Zero, the very average Quake 4 that was saved by having an extra disc with it which included one of the greats Quake 2 in full and finally the very excellent Project Gotham Racing 3.

I got my Xbox One on launch day with Dead Rising 3 and Ryse. Apart from 10 minutes on Dead Rising 3, I don't think I touched the console until I got Call Of Duty: Ghosts for Christmas (I always save COD for Christmas). All these years later, I still haven't returned to Dead Rising 3 or even started Ryse. One day, perhaps.

Launch day was a special day for me. I preordered two Xbox One Day 1 editions. I got one for me and one for my oldest brother. I'm the youngest, the middle brother had passed away a couple years prior and his passing brought my relationship with my oldest a lot closer than it was before so I felt like this was something we could enjoy together. I played the heck out of the 360 with my middle brother and in a way I guess I wanted to start that with my oldest brother with the new generation. I asked him to tag along with me to pick up our Xbox during the midnight release. I watched some of the pre-launch festivities on Spike TV I believe it was or maybe it was on YouTube. We headed to Gamestop at around 11p to wait in line. I was so excited and I really enjoyed that bonding moment. I ended up trading in my 360 version of Fifa for the Xbox one version. That was my only title until I got COD Ghosts a month or two later.

@STEELYdanMAN9 I played Black Flag on 360 and regret it. Wonder if Cyberpunk will feel the same. Probably! A buddy of mine had CoD2 with the launch 360 and it worked to convince me to get one. That and Fight Night...

The first game I played with my original Xbox One was Batman Arkham Knight, and I gotta say, that game's graphics and gameplay blew me away. It still does to this day!
