Hi. I bought Xbox one to return to gaming after a break, partly because of an announcement that online multiplayer no longer required Gold Membership.
Have played some games online for free (mostly COD infinite warfare and xbox360 black ops 3). Loaded up COD WW2 and now none of the games will allow me to play online multiplayer. Just comes up saying that Xbox live profile won't allow me.
@Goodland Gold isn't required for free to play games like CoD Warzone, Warframe, Destiny 2 etc but all other online MP still requires a gold subscription.
@Shigurui Thanks. It does look like I'll have to cough up. The strange thing was that I was getting onto online multiplayer for Cod: infinite warfare. Now those have locked out too.
@Goodland Yeah weird you got some free MP. Probably just took a while for the system to catch your returning profile. If you're into CoD it might be worth getting Game Pass Ultimate. With Microsoft buying Activision there will be an awful lot of CoD stuff entering the service once the deal goes through, including day one releases of future games.
You may have had a trail period for Gold that's why it was letting you play CoD for a few days. As for not needing Gold for multiplayer games, not sure who told you that.
