I gave it an hour or two earlier and it's certainly interesting so far! I'm not sure if I'd quite put it in the walking sim genre @KratosMD, seems more like a point and click/narrative adventure at the moment though I do understand that there is some crossover between the genres.
I think, probably deliberately, that it has 2001 space Odyssey vibes with the "malfunctioning" AI and the proximity to the gas giants - Saturn in this instance, rather than 2001s Jupiter setting. That being said, I thought even AI these days are capable of lightning fast calculations and to put me and my limited human capabilities in control of an AI player character just makes it look like the dumbest Artificial "Intelligence" ever 😂
Looking forward to giving it more of a crack next week!
the next film it reminded me of was the cloverfield paradox. So I would say the plot/setting was a bit of a combo between 2001 and cloverfield paradox. I feel like when you set up a total mystery like this (and the one in 2001), the ending can never justify the journey. What I mean is, that the journey with all the suspense and wonder that you feel along the way is really the most effective part about it. I sort of wondered what the pay off would be and I suspected that in some ways that there wouldn't be one, much like the film version of 2001. Obviously you can read the books/look up the plot on Wikipedia/watch the 2010 adaptation (of which I've done the latter 2) to further you're understanding of the plot of 2001 but somehow I don't think that the back story that isn't shown on screen is the reason why that film is considered a masterpiece. That being said (and back to the game), if I've understood it correctly, the purpose of Saturn's hexagonal storm was to draw man and machine (from the multiverse) there in order to combine the two? Interesting, might have to wiki it to see if there is any source material/background story to fill in the gaps. I didn't make all the connections in Sam's AI but I sort of didn't realize you could until the third act and by that point I just wanted to push on to the end so maybe there's some additional info in there.
Was this the last day of playing this game or is it next week? What are people's thoughts on it?
I'm sure some of you may know that KratosMD has left the forums on this trio of sites. I know they weren't the instigator of this thread but I thought I'd let you know in case you didn't already. I don't know why Kratos left exactly, there are guesses over in the push square forum but I'm not in contact with Kratos so I can't say for sure.
@ralphdibny I hope Kratos is doing ok. I wasn't aware that they had left. I have had a chance to play some more of it, but I have yet to finish the game. I'd say I'm probably about halfway through. I know someone else said they were trying to make time to play it as well although I'm not sure how many of us have gotten through the whole thing. I'd give it another week unless more people come out and say that they're ready to move onto the next game.
We'll finish the game for Saturday and "start" the next one then. Maybe we can suggest games during the week? I think Blair witch was mentioned which I'd be happy with but throw out suggestions and we will get them tallied up!
Yes I am all for Blair Witch being our next game to try. We'll see what other options are suggested but I guess for now Blair Witch can be our #1 choice.
I'm still on board for this. I'm just bad at free time.
XBox/Steam/Epic: owendershot | Switch friend code: I don't remember, these codes are crazy, I'll check later.
Playstations are fine, but I don't have one.
How are peeps getting on with this? Had any time to give it a go? We'll be starting Blair witch on Saturday I guess so I thought I'd drop a quick message in this thread!
Week 3 ends on Sat 30th August. That should give us all plenty of time to play with our other commitments. Play it at your own pace though and don't feel bad if you're not feeling it and decide to pack it in. It is what it is!
Just remember to spoiler tag any discussion and write what chapter you're on before the tags so we know whether it's safe to click on or not!

About Observation I don't know about any particular moment, but what I enjoyed most was how they build up the atmosphere. Many have said they had 2001 space odyssey vibes, but for me it was more like Event Horizon (1997 film). You know something is wrong but you got no other choice that let the game tell its story. The thing I hated (HATED I say) was that sphere. It made my head dizzy and its controls were less than optimal. After all, great game, and I have suggested it to my friends also.
I believe that I play Blair Witch with one or two sittings if it is 5-8 hours long.
I should finish Observation by this weekend and will be back to comment on it. So far, wow! Looking forward to finishing this one and starting Blair Witch
@Justifier yeah the sphere was weird, I played a VR game with similar controls on ps4 and it made me feel sick. I think choppy frame rates generally make me feel a bit whoozy and it seems to be a thing in games like this
What do other peeps think, should we do Blair witch over 2 or 3 weeks? I only suggested 3 so people had time but I really don't mind doing it over 2
@ralphdibny Hey man, it's KratosMD! I decided to start posting here on PureXbox since I've really gotten into Game Pass and Xbox in general lately, so I'd love to join you guys in playing Blair Witch.
I think two weeks would be fine, the game doesn't seem to be that long (5-6 hours, which is typical for a horror game).
