With the announcement for the next Assassin's Creed instalment looming over our heads, the internet has been going crazy with supposed leaks of where the next game will be set, including Feudal Japan and Ancient Egypt. The modern day portion of ACIV:BF also contained fun e-mails, mentioning periods related to Desmond's ancestors.

Where do you guys think the next game will be set, or where would you like it to be set, and why? I'd love to see Ancient Egypt, the Vikings, or 17th-Century England (for a Templar Thomas Hobbes - DO WANT!).

Feudal Japan no doubt for me but then again I just love the Japanese culture.  Another one I would like to see is an old west one like set during the California gold rush era or the Civil War.

I've never been a huge fan of the Assassin's Creed series, but your second idea would probably pull me in for sure!  I'm a sucker for old west stuff!

Both of those scenarios could work brilliantly well. I'd go for either. I'd also gladly go for something maybe a bit more modern. Wartime London, anyone?

Old Victorian London would be great too.  Who knows maybe you are Jack the Ripper and your victims were some sort of contract.

I think lots of people would loooove to see Feudal Japan. It would be good fun.

I'd also like to see Darby McDevitt get his AC game in Ireland, but I'm a little biased

@TheBase287:  Yeah an AC game in Ireland would be great too sadly though I am not to knowledgeable in Ireland history so I couldn't even think when a good time period would be to have an AC game, still like Japan Ireland has fascinated me as well.

20th Century Ireland, around the time of James Joyce, would be amazing.

I think 17th-Century England would be a fantastic choice, its a time of great innovation, shadow politics and event. The Great Fire of London for example would make an amazing set piece, backdrop and plot point.

Oh, the look of that game would be something utterly unique. I can't think of anything that would even be in the same ballpark.

I'll be honest though, if it doesn't have pirates in it, I'll be disappointed.

So I guess AC V will be set in France during the French Revolution.  Major bummed on that news I was hoping for Feudal Japan.  Oh well might pick this one up but not until it hits the bargain bin.

I would have said Feudal Japan was way too obvious, but then again so was the French Revolution, so what do I know?

How do we feel about the new setting?

France is a beautiful country with fantastic architecture, picturesque scenery, and a real one-of-a-kind feel to it. If the dev team replicate it with any degree of accuracy, then the game should be mind-blowing. Cannot wait!

If there's one thing they do well at Ubi, it's replicating eras. They have, like, this GIFT. I'm hoping the French accents will be a little less obnoxious than some of the previous games, though ...

Well I will be honest the only AC games I played was AC III and AC IV, I have AC II as well but that I got with the free for gold promotion but I never finished it.  The third and fourth one really had me on the setting.  The American Revolution is one of my favorite time periods and well pirates how can you not like them.  The French Revolution though I am not to interested in.

As I said I might check this one out if I find it in the bargain bin.

who ever said the old west is a genius. but not too many tall buildings. I always thought the civil war would come into play eventually. the south being the Templars etc etc. just would make sense. world war 2 would make sense as well. but I guess part of the charm of assassins creed is it being based before technology.
