There's no reason this wouldn't work as its essentially a lower capacity SSD with just he game on it. Suspect it would be pretty expensive to produce though so probably not very practical in reality. Looks pretty cool though.
Yea the cost would be high but still - for a one off might be quite cool. Or a limited print. It would give Series S owners a way to play physical too!
This is a really cool idea. I do wonder if the cost will be prohibitive though. This is not necessarily the case but if storage doubles in price as it does in size and likewise halves in price as it does in size then a 500gb could be £100, 250gb £50 and so on. Obviously there's a cut off where the tech needs to actually be there. But surely a game won't normally need more than 125gb. I guess the drive could be rewritable with the latest updates too. Might actually be doable if they reduced the storage of the card to match the game itself plus some leeway for updates.
Could work well with the rewritable cards, would solve the issue of having incomplete physical discs where the game went gold before it was finished and needs a day one patch. On the other hand, you may end up stuck with a future version of a game that's had all the cool licensed music at launch patched out of it at a later date!
