Topic: Getting An Xbox

I've been with PS since the original PlayStation all way upto now. Well now I fancy getting a Series X.

Because I'm a huge Bethesda fan and the thought of Starfield, Hi Fi & other Zenimax games being exclusive hurts.

I also prefer Phil Spencer and when I see the Sony line up, nothing really takes my fancy.

What are the benefits of coming to Xbox, because I'm really wanting an Xbox

Just get both, then you miss out on nothing. Obviously you like the Bethesda games, other than that I’d look up game pass, look what’s on there and decide for yourself if the games are what you want.

Other than that they are pretty similar machines, personally I prefer the PS controller, the Xbox one for me feels cheap, but Xbox has things like fast start that just speed things up.

I'm not that bothered about exclusives. But the Game Pass & Backwards Compat sounds good

I too have since moved back over to XBOX. My last XBOX was a 360. I've been playing a lot of games I missed out on from Game Pass, so the value for me has been great.

Quick Resume, better customer service, better subscription service, better hardware and the free and enhanced backwards compatibility are what makes Series X the best console. PS has become a Hollywood blockbusters machine.

I'm going to start saving for one

@Ephexis83 I had a PS4 for all of last gen. I made the move to Xbox partly because of the Series S, partly because of gamepass. And the great thing about gamepass if you weren't on Xbox last gen, there are a ton of Xbox games you missed over the past 8 years or so to catch up on, plus the new ones. I fully intend to keep subscribing into the future.

Also, quick resume is fantastic. I have my Xbox on the Eco mode and load times in general are very fast, but quick resume is just a brilliant thing.

@NintendoByNature The good stuff started last generation but it's full-fledged on Series S|X 😊.

Couldn't agree more with @Banjo. Yes PS5 has that 'hollywood' blockbuster type game - but they are not the most 'innovative' in terms of Game-play. The game-play loop is polished and 'serviceable', but its relying more on you being hooked on the story, the characters etc to keep you playing in-between cut-scenes - nothing wrong with that - but after a while, they do feel somewhat 'samey' and I want something 'different' - a palette cleanser if you will...

The main difference between Playstation 5 and Series X in my opinion is that 'Series X' is just an 'optional' choice that offers 'PS5' equivalent performance on 'multi-platform' games for around the same 'price'. If you buy 'digital', you are not necessarily 'locked' to the console either so can play some games on PC too and with GPU (which combines Game Pass for PC, for Cloud and for Console with Live Gold and EA Play) means you can play games 'anywhere' and 'anytime' on whatever device you can access - play on PC in your work break, play on mobile on your way home and play on console when you get home - keeping your progress across all platforms.

Quick Resume is amazing too - although be aware that 'online' games generally don't work well with Quick Resume due to the 'online' aspect. People don't really talk about games like Gears 5 for example as a 'Series X' game because it got a 'free' Series X upgrade (including RT Global Illumination - a 'next gen' feature) rather than was 're-released' as a Series X game (like Last of us Pt1) or charging £10 to get a 'native' version (like Ghost of Tsushima, God of War: Ragnarok etc). Its 'overlooked' I think because it was a 'free' upgrade...

Game Pass isn't 'just' for the AAA 'exclusives' either and offers exceptional 'value'. Playing games like MLB21, 22, 23, Back 4 Blood, Plague Tale etc saves you 'money' versus playing on PS5. Vampire Survivors may not be AAA or a 'system' seller on its own, but its a BAFTA Game of the Year winner you can 'try' for free on Game Pass and a LOT of indies provide excellent game-play, innovative game-play mechanics and often more 'charm' and more 'character' than most 'generic' AAA games - also don't demand 150hrs+ of 'filler' just to finish the game and perfect for 'shorter' gaming sessions. You could get by without ever buying a game at launch again when its at its 'most' broken, most disappointing and most 'expensive' too as there is always something on Game Pass to play whilst waiting for patches and prices to drop...

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Don't really chat much but this one caught my eye. I recently bought an Xbox SX having moved to PS during the 2013 E3 debacle. Added it to my PS5 and Switch (mentioned this for context).

My Xbox is basically a ECM...Exclusives Coop Machine. There is a huge range of legacy games as well as 10 years of exclusives that I missed out on from 2013-23. So if you buy now, youve got a huge library available to you and some superb games await. My buddies still game on Xbox so good to get back with them too.

PS5 is still my default so any 3rd party games get bought on that device. JRPGs for days on PSN but appreciate not everyone is into these. Switch remains my couch coop party machine which my friends and family love when they visit and its great for me when I travel.

So they all add different things which I think is great these days. I'd say the Xbox is worth it if you have the disposable. Fable, Crackdown, Forza and Halo are really great franchises that still hold up well these days...IMO.

I'm lucky enough to have both and a Switch.
Too tough for me to choose - for Series X it's game pass. Exceptional value.
PS5 - it has to be the exclusives and that controller.
Tough choice.
