Usually, when I turn on my XSX controller, the light on the controller pulses for 2 seconds, after which the console also starts and both devices are connected. Lately (since the december update, I think), this not always works.
In rare occasions (I measured it: about 1 in 15 times), the controller xbox logo light will be fully on, but the console hasn't been woken. A manual press of the button on the console is then needed.XSX launch unit, original controller, new batteries. Have already power cycled and replaced HDMI cables. Have already tried secondary controller.
The XSX is configured in eco mode, and is on the default consumer update ring.
Update: reproduced this with a second controller and a second system.
Do you use that controller on other systems occasionally, for example PC? In my experience whenever I use it with the PC, when back to Xbox I have to plug in the controller to have it pair with the console and allow it to wake up the system.
