Does anybody else have problems with the blu-ray app not working randomly? I recently wanted to watch Westworld Season 1 and I can not get it to recognize the disc over multiple days then out of the blue it just launched itself while I was watching a different show. I have tried uninstalling reinstalling im at a loss to be honest.

Hello!
Not sure if this will work, but hey, I figured it's worth a shot (especially since I still use a lot of physical media). I've noticed that occasionally Xbox won't read or recognize a disc (game or movie). After reading a bunch of threads apparently the problem is that the Xbox caches data in a weird way. Sometimes it caches data that prevents the disc reader from properly working because it tries to cache to the same location as something else.
Everyone seems to agree that what you need to do is a proper reset. Just turning it off, or putting it to sleep or standby doesn't fix it.
Hopefully that helps.

I tried that and it didn't work. It plays regular blurays just fine but it will not play 4k triple layer blurays.

so unplugging it and holding the power button worked for me but turning it of and back on we were back to square one. repeating the process worked again what a hassle.

Microsoft needs to figure out what the problem is and fix it. My day one Xbox One S plays everything just fine but this seems to be a common problem with the Xbox Series X.

@BleedingDreamer its weird that its just some though like you mentioned also the xbox support site says talk to the disc manufacturer thats their response kinda funny.
