Topic: Playstation 4

As I am on the lookout for a PS4 console I see there are a few bundles available with the PS Eye. Is it worth getting? I am torn between buying a Console and then getting the games I want or going for a bundle (either Killzone or Infamous) that has an Extra controller and the Eye.
I want to get a console in time for Uncharted 4 but also have an interest in Killzone, Infamous, the Order and to a lesser degree Bloodborne too.

Are you talking about the PS Camera when you say Eye? Kinda gotta me confused so forgive me.

If you are talking about the camera its up to you and how much use you will get out of it. I have had my PS4 since launch and not once I have needed/wanted the camera but that's just me.

Now if you do want the camera I say go with the bundle as games like Killzone, Infamous are very cheap now we're talking in the range of $20 - $30 while the last time I checked the camera was $60 so you will probably be saving money that way. If you don't want the camera you can probably buy the console and then the games separate and it will be cheaper that way.

Yes I do mean the camera although I have no idea exactly what it does or how it will impact on my gaming. The only thing I remember seeing about it was the virtual alien things. I have seen a deal for around £380-£400 for both the Infamous and Killzone bundles although I don't know whether I am likely to need 2 controllers, I do like having a back up anyway. Both games are on my wanted list as I enjoyed the series on my PS3. It just seemed cheaper than buying a console on its own or one of the standard console/game bundle especially when considering the price of just an additional controller.

Like I said I really know nothing about the Camera and what it is used for - if anything. If it has little to no game application - although I thought it had some connection to the controllers then it may be worth just trying to get my own 'bundle' together.

I have the camera. Its kind of useless though. The voice commands only work on the main menu IIRC so its not as useful as Kinect stuff.

Few games use it like Battlefield (for leaning), Singstar, Just Dance and the Play Room. Its neat at times but it isn't really worth getting unless you're weird like I am.

Well it seems that it would be more of an extravagance and waste of money from my perspective - especially as I can get the console on its own for at least £100 less and use that difference to get both Infamous: Second Son and Killzone Shadow Fall - even though I hear they are not exactly a leap forward in terms of gameplay although visually great I can also get a years PS+ and still have change.
Considering I also have an Xbox One and therefore have had access to all multi-platform releases, are there any games that you would consider 'essential' or at least worth considering that has been released so far. I know of Driveclub and Knack and neither appeal. I am not really a fan of Little Big Planet either.

I think Killzone Shadow Fall is trash. I would stay away from that. Terrible campaign - multiplayer is fine but there are better experiences to be had.

As far as exclusives go - Doki Doki Universe is excellent if you're into that type of game, The Last of Us is one of the best games to be released in years, Knack is fine (nothing special but the hate it gets is asinine), lots of other cool digital stuff like Transistor, Towerfall Ascension, Nidhogg, etc.. Xbox One is lacking a lot of the indie support and Microsoft has themselves to blame there.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had heard hat Killzone isn't really that great a a game but I really enjoyed Killzone 2 and 3 wasn't too bad. I will get Shadow Fall just because I can get it cheap now and will get Infamous Second Son for similar reasons. I must admit I wasn't terribly impressed by the Last of Us on PS3. I didn't really have any connection to any of the characters which didn't help and didn't find the story all that interesting - It would be something I might pick up when the price drops low enough. Really looking forward to Uncharted 4 though. As for Indies, I wouldn't even download 99.9% of them if they were free and very much doubt that will change with the PS offerings too. I must admit to being interested in the Order 1886 and Bloodborne looks interesting too in the upcoming releases

I'd disagree that Killzone Shadowfall is trash. It's not as good as 2, and I'd even say on the whole it was a bit of a disappointment (my fault though for expecting more than I should've from a launch FPS) but it does have a great multiplayer and the single player is worth a run through. They tried some different things from some of the other campaigns and I'd say at times it actually felt more like Crysis or Halo with the one machine vs. an army vibe but it was still decent enough to go through once. I've played much, much worse games and for $20 for that multiplayer alone, it's not bad.

I'd agree with this. I quite enjoyed Killzone Shadowfall in places. Some occasional things that set it back, but generally enjoyable on the whole, I'd say. Especially for £20 or less!

Glad you guys managed to have some fun in the single player. I thought it was a complete mess of a campaign.

The Co-Op mode is pretty fun but that is DLC so...

Hey Bam, I'm looking to get a PS4 too, though after The Order and the questionable gameplay I'm going to defer my purchase until something like DayZ or No Mans Sky comes along. Great info about the camera guys, I was also wondering about this.

I thought DayZ was poorly received on PC? Or am I confusing that with another Zombie game? Is there a War Z or something? >.>

Or is Day Z the ARMA mod that looked cool? My memory fails me!

DayZ (I think) is the Arma Mod but I thought PS4 was getting H1Z1?

Getting both. Although H1Z1 will probably (read as definitely) come to Xbox as well.
