Topic: Anniversary PS4

Can we all just take a minute and drool over the 20th anniversary PS4? (link to sister site, PushSquare).

Probably wouldn't buy it, our PS4 is working perfectly fine as it is (and I need to hold my moneys tight)... But there's a little voice inside of me that's crying over not even getting the choice.

it was announced on the europe twitter so i can't see why not.

Was announced that it won't be released via "normal channels" in Europe, and that it's limited to 12,000 or so units worldwide.

This is the only anniversary console that has really appealed to me aside from the Game Boy Micro - famicom one.

I so want that lol.  But I am in the same boat as @PeTitosaurus, my current PS4 works fine and I dont have money just to run out and by this.

In other news anyone grab the new free theme for the PS4, the PS anniversary theme?  Complete with the PS loading jingle and everything.

Have you seen the prices these have been fetching on eBay? Totally insane. It's just a regular PS4 in a grey plastic case with a couple of embellishments (badge, logo). Now if they'd actually designed it as a top loading PS1 inspired device then maybe it would be a bit more special. This... this is just a good PR stunt before Christmas...

I wouldn't mind a PS4 and will probably get one for when Uncharted 4 comes out. I rarely play on my PS3 and having an Xbox One I can't really justify getting it at the moment - just for Killzone and Infamous.

Not sure I like the Anniversary edition as much as the standard black one - It wouldn't fit in with all the other black electronics I have - SkyHD box, XB1, XB360, PS3, Home Theatre system...

Not cynical at all, just being realistic. I totally agree with you. It's nothing but a PR stunt and it'll probably drive a few people to take the plunge and buy a standard PS4 when they realise that the limited edition one isn't available anywhere.

Regards to eBayers...if you spend £2,000 on a games console that's available for £400, simply because it has slightly different coloured plastic on it, then you want your head tested. I read somewhere today that appoximately 30% of the limited PS4s that have been released so far in the UK, are on eBay. Mental.

Though I guess if you've got time to randomly go and queue for hours on a Wednesday morning at a moment's notice to get one, then it's likely that you'll be looking to make money any way you can what with the lack of employment, so it's hardly surprising. I know I wouldn't have been able to ditch work to get there to get one (had I been told it was happening), and I'm self-employed.

@BAMozzy - I'm the same - hated my launch 360 because it was white - bought a black Elite when it came out so it would blend in nicely. Well that and the fact I was on my 3rd white 360 due to the RROD and wanted something more reliable

@SuperKMx - Was thinking exactly the same about the kind of person that can queue up midweek for one of these. What about the people who queue for days/weeks at a time when a new iPhone/Pad comes out... But then again where would they get that sort of cash from if they didn't work...?

I queued at midnight to pickup my pre-ordered Xbox but that's about my limit.

I wish they were releasing the controllers separately. I don't really dig the console itself but I really liked the controller and the extra details on the touchpad.
