Topic: Dark Mode (Beta Test)

OK those still interested in helping test dark mode... click here to enable dark mode and disable dark mode.

Most things should be working fine, but if you come across anything that looks funny or doesn't work right then please email me a screenshot (and include the URL in the screenshot, or in the email) to [email protected]

Wow this is fantastic news! I use dark mode whenever available. And I tried a couple of different things and all apear to work well.

@BAMozzy sorry it took so long!

@antdickens Better late than never...

Looks and appears to be working well - although the drop down Menus at the top (like Forums) do still stay in 'Light' mode and they seem almost painfully bright when they appear. The Popular Right Now section at the bottom is also retaining 'Light mode' settings - but isn't quite so bad because of the surrounding colour.

I don't know if its possibly to be able to make Dark mode for 'everything' - including those parts I mentioned that are retaining Light mode style format or not, but the rest is absolutely great so far - the Green and Blue (Push Square) are bright enough to stand out and be legible on a 'black' background for me - which isn't always the case (particularly blue) so I will be using Dark Mode

@BAMozzy I've just changed the header menus to make use of the dark mode too... however I'll probably leave the "Popular Now" as they are. Thanks!

@antdickens Thank you - that is much better.

As I said, the 'Popular Now' section isn't quite so bad as its surrounded by a 'bright' colour and its not as 'instant' as the header menu's - like someone turning on a torch in a dark room. I do think it would look a bit off too with Black boxes surrounded by Bright colour...

@antdickens Not sure if it's a bug either way I kinda like it, but I noticed when I click on articles and after I read them and go back to the home page the text on the article is no longer highlighted. Nice little feature there it helps me remember which articles I have read.

@Tasuki that feature has been there for years and isn’t unique to dark mode, but perhaps it’s just a little more visible with the contrast - but yeah useful to see what you’ve read or not.

Either that or maybe have the link where you can toggle it at the top of the page or at the bottom like the contact link.

@Royalblues once we come out of testing there will be a toggle in the user pull out at the top of the page.
