Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Xbox Series X|S)

Say what you want about the Assassin's Creed series, but it's continued to prove successful for all these years. Assassin's Creed Valhalla continues the tradition with the most ambitious title yet, offering a huge medieval representation of England to explore. It's big, loud and filled with hours upon hours of content. Leveraging the Xbox Series X to its full capabilities, it also offers a stunning 60fps option to further enhance the gratuitous violence. If you're looking for a stellar launch title, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything bigger than this.

DIRT 5 (Xbox Series X|S)

There was a lot of buzz surrounding the release of Dirt 5 for Xbox Series X and Series S ahead of launch, and it didn't disappoint! The latest entry in Codemasters' long-running series is quite different to its predecessors, ditching the rally focus and prioritising an arcade style of driving rather than simulation, and the result is a highly enjoyable racer that we've sunk countless hours into over the past year. Plus, it continues to receive free updates even to this day, so if you haven't given it a try yet, we highly recommend playing it on Xbox Game Pass.

Tetris Effect: Connected (Xbox Series X|S)

Tetris Effect: Connected is just more of the same, right? Oh no, it's so much more than that. The game is a visual and audio experience. It's hard to quantify in words how stunning the game is, and how it merges its gameplay and visuals to assault your senses. Plus, it's a great game for all the family - anyone can learn how to play Tetris, after all. It's amazing how even after all these years, Tetris: Effect Connected finds a way to put a meaningful spin on the classic puzzle experience from the 1980s. Don't overlook this one, it's a hidden gem.

Gears Tactics (Xbox Series X|S)

While the Gears series is known for its third-person combat, Gears Tactics mixes everything up by bringing in tactical based gameplay. In a franchise known for its explosive set pieces, the game allows you to control the battlefield from above, adjusting your teammates to suit the situation. Fans of titles such as XCOM will feel right at home and the game looks gorgeous on Xbox Series X|S. If you're a fan of the series but are looking for something new, this is a launch title you don't want to miss.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Xbox Series X|S)

Xbox Series X|S owners were treated to timed exclusivity with the next-gen version of Yakuza: Like A Dragon, as SEGA delivered the JRPG months before the PlayStation 5 version arrived. As for the game itself, it's a brand new take on the Yakuza formula, switching up from real-time to turn-based combat. The change worked dramatically, bringing something new to the table whilst respecting everything that came before it. The next-gen version also offers the ability to play it at 60fps and is a great step for the series. Even if you've never played the Yakuza series before, this is a great entry point.
