We're still in the process of counting down to the end of Xbox Games With Gold (and the beginning of Xbox Game Pass Core) in September, so we thought we'd take a quick look back at what the program has delivered us throughout 2023.
And before you say anything... yes, we know it's been a bit disappointing! The games themselves have been enjoyable for the most part, but the disappointment comes from the lack of any major AAA titles in the mix this year.
To remind yourself, these are the 17 games that Xbox Games With Gold has given us in 2023:
- Iris Fall (January 1-31)
- Autonauts (January 16 - February 15)
- For The King (February 1-28)
- Guts N Goals (February 16 - March 15)
- Sudden Strike 4 - Complete Collection (March 1-31)
- Trüberbrook (March 1-31)
- Lamentum (March 16 - April 15)
- Out Of Space: Couch Edition (April 1-30)
- Peaky Blinders: Mastermind (April 16 - May 15)
- Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (May 1-31)
- Hoa (May 16 - June 15)
- Adios (June 1-30)
- The Vale: Shadow Of The Crown (June 16 - July 15)
- Darkwood (July 1-31)
- When The Past Was Around (July 16 - August 15)
- Blue Fire (August 1-31)
- Inertial Drift (August 1-31)
As you can see, March 2023 was the only month in which Xbox Games With Gold gave away three games this year, while all the other months were limited to two. Some of the highlights included Sudden Strike 4 - Complete Collection, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, Star Wars Episode 1 Racer, For The King, Hoa and others.
So, as Xbox Games With Gold prepares to come to a close, we're interested to know how you'd rate the entire year of GwG titles, as well as what your favourite addition was in 2023. If you've got more than one, tell us in the comments!

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer is the best of this bunch, but it’s not a healthy looking bunch, to be honest.
They are all absolutely terrible except star wars episode 1 racer worst service ever this was laughably bad
@Dan1283 can't argue with that, it really was terrible
Star Wars Episode One Racer was great, although I already had it. But the last game Inertial Drift was on my radar and I played it to completion this weekend, so that was well worth the download too. I have downloaded most of the others but chances of me trying them out I admit are slim
Sudden Strike 4 is great.
For the King is an amazing game.
Loved Hoa - really good game. A few others I have saved for the backlog (For the King, Truberbrook ) but quickly deleted most…
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer was a good one, however I already owned that so for me it was Sudden Strike 4 as I love a good RTS game.
I have to admit, while I’m sad to lose 24 free games a year, this wasn’t a great year for it.
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer was the best. I had fun playing it with my kids and telling them my memories about the game from when I was a kid.
The handling is still great on that game.
A few of them actually! Inertial Drift (August 1-31) is great!
I have to admit that I haven't played any of them in spite of getting them all, but we got two excellent racing games: Star Wars Episode 1 Racer and Inertial Drift. I was too busy with Game Pass and I was happy to see that I beat Ni No Kuni Remastered before reading this:
