As the year draws to a close, now's the perfect time to reflect on how we've tackled the relentless barrage of great Xbox games that have headed our way in 2024, which includes how many of them we've actually been able to finish!
Of course, the idea of "finishing" or "completing" a game these days isn't quite as simple as it used to be, as there are so many live service titles that can't technically be completed. But let's not focus on those - instead, we want to ask you about the Xbox games you've played in 2024 that have a set length and a definitive conclusion to them.
Also, we're very keen to know if any of them are part of the Pure Xbox Game of the Year list for this year!
You don't have to just tell us about the games that have released in 2024, either. We're just interested in anything you've managed to finish over the past 12 months, whether it's something like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle that only just launched a few weeks ago, or perhaps even something from the original Xbox or Xbox 360 eras.
Oh, and a big thanks to Pure Xbox member Nighto4 for suggesting this Talking Point idea - we're always eager to hear your suggestions, and we'll make them happen where possible!
Which Xbox games have you managed to finish this year? Tell us in the comments section down below.

Hmmmm, most games I play are live services. But I suppose the Vessel of Hatred campaign and reaching Torment IV does count?
Completed 83 games on Xbox this year. Almost all through Game Pass and Ubi+.
From your GOTY list, I completed Stalker 2 and Indy. They were just OK to me.
Best games: Far Cry Primal Survivor, Dead Space, Hardspace Shipbreaker, Neon White, Chants of Sennaar, Wo Long, Lies of P, FIST, It Takes Two, Golden Idol
Worst games: Fallout 76, Breakpoint, Control, Evil Within 2, Gears 4, Chicory
I feel very disconnected from the mainstream opinions on games these days.
Next year I’d like to spend more time on games I truly love like Skyrim/Fallout4/Starfield and maybe a few indies mixed in.
I went back and beat Gears 2 and 3 on insane. I also completed Halo Infinite which was quite enjoyable. Other games were mostly backwards compatible ones.
On Xbox this year, I've beaten the following games, in order:
OlliOlli World
Gears of War 2(was a replay with a friend)
Rollerdrome
Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War
Crackdown 3
RoboCop: Rogue City
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
A Way Out
Remnant II
We Love Katamari: REROLL + Royal Reverie
Another Crab's Treasure
Red Dead Redemption
Hitman: Absolution
I've finished a lot of games this year, but it's been inflated due to the rewards program. I find a game, follow a guide to go achievement-by-achievement so I get one Gamepass game achievement per day. But for fun I've finished Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Yakuza Kiwami. PGA Tour, a couple of the FF Pixel Remasters, Crash 1+2, Spyro 1, and BLOPS6 to name a few. Still playing Indiana Jones at the moment.
Hellblade 2, COD BO6, As Dusk Falls and I’m almost done with Indiana Jones. My main platform is PS5, but I keep an active Game Pass Ultimate sub to be able to play Xbox games via xCloud.
Quite a few
This year I finished 11 games on Xbox and 7 on the Nintendo Switch. Here's my list of Xbox games in chronological order:
Crisis Core FFVII Reunion
Resident Evil 4 Remake + Separate Ways
Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara
Bramble: The Mountain King
Sea of Stars
Like a Dragon Gaiden
The Quarry
Gylt
Death Stranding
Little Nightmares + DLC
Stray
Guitar Hero 3 is the only game I completed on Xbox this year. I’m 3/4ths through Nine Sols and probably halfway through Indy though. I’ll finish them both for sure. Beat a lot more games on PS5. I didn’t beat any game on Switch in 2024 though! Yikes!
I finished BG3, Witcher 3, Starfield DLC, Fractured But Whole, Cyberpunk DLC, CoD 6 Campaign, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Hellblade 1 and Hellblade 2. Currently playing Indiana Jones and STALKER 2.
If I can recall, in order:
Conker: Live and Reloaded (January)
Perfect Dark (June)
Perfect Dark Zero (also in June)
Conker’s Bad Fur Day (via Rare Replay; August)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (September)
Pretty small list since I didn’t have all the time in the world to play games. Only five games, so that’s bad…A lot of the games are from the OG Xbox and 360, so my time with Xbox this year was full of a lot of oldies and retro games. I need to buy more games next year since my list is so small.
I’d say the one I had the most fun with was Shredder’s Revenge, especially since I played online with @Banjo- and a few others as I progressed through the game. I did have some fun with Bad Fur Day too since I played it as part of the PX Game Club and wrote about it, but despite how much I like it, that game has the least enjoyable gameplay and level design out of all the games I completed this year. Some of the other retro games had some flaws with their gameplay, but they were still enjoyable.
Jade Empire
Guardians of the Galaxy
Episode I Racer
Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2
Beyond Good and Evil
All were very enjoyable games.
Quite a few this year. I actually have a "Finished games" group.

Considering only games that have a definitive ending, 71 total games completed (rolled credits) this year. 22 of them were on xbox platforms (some were not bc on the Series but played on 360/og).
Favorites- dead space remake, silent hill 2 remake, indiana jones, black ops 6, assassins creed Mirage, pikmin 4, dying light 2

Oldest - Kirby dream land ('92), wario land ('94), star wars dark forces ('95), quake 1 ('96)
Black ops 6 and a handful of other games Alan wake 2 but unless I went through what games I've played over the last year on my Xbox I literally couldn't tell you ha
Not quite sure which were this year, but if I had to guess I’d say Lies of P (just this week), Resident Evil 2 and 3, Cocoon and Sea of Stars. Enjoyed them all, especially Lies of P! Before this run I was playing on my PS5.
I started a few games I am playing with no rush, such as Elden Ring, Diablo IV, Starfield, Fallout 4 or Skyrim (I hadn't played a Bethesda game before which explains these three).
I managed to complete Mass Effect 1, The Outer Worlds and Tomb Raider Definitive Edition.
@Pastellioli Not bad at all, gaming is just a fun hobby and we all go through different phases in life that make us super busy. That said, Shredder's Revenge is a fantastic game. I'm hoping they make another TMNT arcade game!
@FraserG thanks for the mention!

Will finish Indy before the end of the year.
Mostly third parties on Xbox 360 or PS3 copies if my 360 one didn't work or just because a third party but will still count it.
Played Xbox One games this year but not to much completion. Like Mothergunship is good but tough even for a few attempts after the tutorial but willing to keep going, got others to try but not bothered really yet. Got Crackdown 3 even to play more of than a few early hours.
Got many OG Xbox to play as well Revenge of the Sith the game, Crimson Skies I've installed but not started besides the intro segment for testing.
-MX vs ATV Reflex
-Wanted movie game (PS3 as broken 360 disk)
-Splintcell Conviction (binged in day)
-Battlefield 3 (Xbox One as 360 singleplayer disk wasn't great so digital it was and binged it)
-Bodycount (PS3 as 360 disk was ok then stopped working, got halfway through then beat it from scratch on PS3)
-Soldier of Fortune Payback (PS3 as that's what had)
-Turning Point (10 minutes from end of level, PS3)
-Blackside Area 51 (PS3 as that's what had)
-Up movie game (Wii, same game regardless of platform compared to other different versions per platform type games)
-MotoGP 06 (360 only) 1st season run that's it.
-WRC 3 (360)
-MotoGP 09/10, could do more but did just a 1st season run.
Still got to get through:
-Kingdom Under Fire Circle of Doom, about area 3 or so out of 6.
-MotoGP 08 still working on 1st season run
-Playing NFS Carbon on 360 currently, collector's edition
-among many more.
Gears 5, Robocop, Scarlet Nexus.
For me,
Bramble
Dordogne
Jusant
Shadowrun Returns
Solar Ash
The Last Case of Benedict Fox
Return to Grace
Cult of the Lamb
A Little to the Left
Lamplighters League (technically did not finish, had recurring crash issues in the last third, but loved the game)
Open Roads
Little Kitty, Big City
Botany Manor
Case of the Golden Idol
McPixel 3
Creatures of Ava
Dungeons of Hinterberg
While the Iron Is Hot
And a few on:
Switch (Howl, Murder By Numbers, Peglin)
PS (Ghost of Tsushima, Astro Bot)
I've been keeping lists of games and books completed for a few years now, and it is fun to look back
Can't remember all of them but a few honorable mentions:
Wo long
Dead space remake
Dead island 2
Lies of P
Cocoon
Sea of stars
Completed 16, gained 15 thousand gamescore this year
Last four are : Dead Island 2, Callisto Protocol, Amnesia the Bunker, and Somerville
Could have done more, but it's a marathon not a sprint with Gamepass expiration on Sept 2027. Have been maintaining a 600 plus day of achievement streak on another achievement oriented site.
Halo 2, evil within 2, still wakes the deep, hellblade 2, diablo 4, halo ce, turnip boy robs a bank, gears of war 2, sunset overdrive, robocop rogue city, psychonauts 2. Quite a bit actually. Hoping to finish Indy this year too.
Nothing new. Almost.
I’ve started with finally beating Yakuza 0 (mind you, it was actually the last game from the mainline series I hadn’t played before, excluding yet to be released Y8 at the time). Nice. Overrated by those who started the series with this one, many parts felt much more tedious than the previously released games in the series but just like with any Yakuza game, it’s still entertaining enough to sit through till the end.
Then there were Destroy All Humans remakes, breddy good, I hate remake business and all but those actually improve most of the originals aspects. Keeping Yuri Lowenthal’s racist asian voice acting is a gift.
The only 2024 release I’ve played was Persona 3 Reloaded. Still a good game. Dungeon scrolling part got better, persona fusion streamlined. Not bad. Added voice acting in social events is good. Combat is actually weaker than the OG, theurgy trivializes many fights, some rebalances made to characters and personas enable some really broken combinations. Hard mode felt like easy in the original, honestly. The music is worse than the original soundtrack. The new singer is in no way a proper replacement of Kawamura. Also, the graphics outside of dungeons looks out of wack. Locations have terrible color contrasts, look flat and sometimes feel like some fan-made map made from UE4 assets bundled together. The original feels much more organic with better composition and colors. I mean, people well-versed in art trump any over reliance on le newh texhnologey and rewelistic lightning any day.
And then there are some other things from backlog or playthroughs of the games I haven’t played for many years. The Witcher 3 (finally beat it after dropping it previously on PS4), Resi Remake (amazing), RE0 (also great and partner system gets bashed by critics too much, it’s actually really fun, but it feels more like Onimusha or a later RE tone-wise which isn’t bad), Max Payne (fantastic in Series via bc), Max Payne 2 (also good but the console version compromises are much more apparent here) and Black Ops (nothing beats a good old schizo-kino with some beer).
And that’s about it. Gonna get to Ace Combat 7, Alan Wake, Dead Rising (the original, ofc), Metro Exodus and maybe Tekken 8 next year.
Off the top of my head (but sure I’ve forgotten a few):
Cocoon
Halo Infinite campaign
Half Life 2 (from The Orange Box)
Toy Soldiers HD
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Exhumed/Powerslave
Hellblade 2
Work-in-progress:
Indy
BLOPS 6

GOTY: Outer Wilds with Indy being a close second
I didn't have a ton of time to play games, but of the dozen I finished this year, about half were on xbox. I think only one of them was from 2024 (P3R), which just illustrates the sad state of my backlog.
Witcher 3
Nier Automata
Persona 3 Reload
Thirsty Suitors
Return to Grace
Resident Evil 4
Oh and my GOTY was 2015's Witcher 3, smh.
Far out weights what I didn’t get too. Mainly dude to work and family life with a 2 year old means Xbox night is Tuesday till 2am ans suffer the next day.but this is also main reason game pass is so great but also why I also purchased aloud through sales
Replayed the Bungie Halo games and put 40 hours into Fallout New Vegas. (And the same for Pokemon Shield!)
I can’t remember! Definitely finished some game pass titles…
Shadowrun Dragonfall
Indy
Octopath 2
Persona 3R
Case of the golden idol
A short hike
Like a dragon gaiden
And others:
Natsu-mon (not Xbox sadly)
Baldurs gate 3
Shin Megami tensei 5
Metaphor Refantazio
There were more but I’d have to check and no one cares! I played more than I finished, but I finished those are least.
@burntends how did you like thirsty suitors? I had meant to play that and dungeons of Hinterberg now, but I got sucked back into baldurs gate 3 wanting to replay!
@RentedPanda if you liked shadowrun returns, you’re in for a big treat with shadowrun Dragonfall. Holy cow that game captivated me. I have such weird nostalgia for it, and it was only January that I played it. Looking forward to playing Hong Kong sometime soon.
Halo infinite bloody love it 🕹️🎮🕹️🎮🧡🧡🧡 Spiderman 2 ps5 🕹️🎮🕹️🎮💚💚💚
@jesse_dylan I played it on GamePass while waiting for P3R to come out and I feel like it was a perfect GamePass game. It definitely won't be for everyone, but I I thought it had a cool style, I really enjoyed the turn-based boss battles and cooking mini-game, and the soundtrack is straight jams from beginning to end. On the other hand, the skating (which is a big part of the game) kind of sucked imo. I wouldn't pay $30 for it. I don't think I paid much more than that for Witcher 3 and RE4 remake combined and those are both perfect 10s. But if you have GamePass or can get it at a steep discount it may be worth your time.
@Benjamin What did you think of New Vegas? I remember it as being one of the greatest games of all time, but I imagine that opinion is heavily influenced by nostalgia. How's it hold up in 2024?
@jesse_dylan I'm playing Dragonfall now, liking it so far. I just finished the big transition after saving up enough cash for the Intel I needed. Not sure how far in that is
@RentedPanda Hmm, maybe 1/3 or so? Now the real game starts for you. Man I loved that game so much. My only complaint was the console version had weird audio issues. That, and a complaint against myself--I wish I'd played it totally blind, not googling anything at all!!!! It's short, and really replayable, so I wish I'd played it blind and then replayed it if I really wanted to. Glory is one of my favorite game characters of all time (even though I'm sure she was written by a dude lolol)
@burntends Yeah, game pass here too. I think I'll love it! Might not love the skating sounds like lol but we'll see. I'm sure it's been on sale and stuff too--can't really compare an older massive game on huge discount with a newer indie game on no discount, of course. Now if I could just tear myself away from Baldur's Gate 3...
@jesse_dylan I want to play BG3 so bad but am concerned that it will completely take over my life. I played Baldur's Gate 2 EE for nearly 1000 hours, obsessively trying to take in all of the content. I don't have nearly as much free time now as I did back then, so if I pick it up I've got to accept that it will probably be my entire gaming life for a few years.
The only one I finished finished was sea of stars. I played lots of others that I got pretty far in, yet didn’t finish.
@burntends I enjoyed it much more than Fallout 3 which I played at release. It's a proper role-playing game, I maxed out speech and smooth-talked my way through major parts of quests. The Fallout TV Show is a sequel of sorts to Fallout NV. I recommend giving that a watch.
