Welcome to the weekend! We've got so many Xbox Game Pass titles to enjoy over the next couple of days, along with another batch of Free Play Days titles, some major new releases including Call of Duty: MW3, and a big sale as always!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I'm hooked on Football Manager again, and it's totally all Xbox's fault. I've been playing Football Manager 2024 (the PC version) on Game Pass, and I'm probably going to continue doing that all weekend. The console version is good too, but at the moment I'm craving the full-fat experience that only the PC version can provide.
Like a Dragon Gaiden is definitely on my watchlist too, but I feel like it's maybe not the best place to jump into the series as someone who's only really played Judgment and nothing else. I may even cram in a couple of AEW: Fight Forever matches as well... it's a great game and I love AEW, but I'm eagerly waiting more content for it.
Have a great weekend, folks!
Craig Reid, Video Producer
Ahoy gang! This weekend I’m aiming to draw the final curtain on my 100% playthrough of The Quarry. I have one secret achievement left to get before I call it a night with that one. I have thoroughly enjoyed it though.
Once I’ve sorted my summer camp affairs I’ll be kicking back with a lot of Vampire Survivors. Such a perfect mind-numbing game. I hardly have to pay attention but it’s largely addictive all the same. I’m also playing a fair few games which are currently under embargo, so I’ll keep a lid on those, but I’m still cracking on with Persona 5 Tactica ahead of its launch next week. Is anyone excited for P5T? If you are then why not check out the Things To Know About Persona 5 Tactica video I made earlier this week!
Happy gaming, folks!
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Like A Dragon Gaiden on game pass. Its awesome it comes with Infinite Wealth Demo
Will be mostly playing on Series X but also a bit on Switch this weekend. Got a month of Game Pass so I'm playing through Cocoon, Forza Motorsport, Dead Space (2023) and Like a Dragon Gaiden. This will keep me busy for the rest of the month, lol. Not to mention Persona 5 Tactica next week.
I'll also be playing the new Mario Kart DLC. Going to play as my boy Funky Kong who I used to main during the Mario Kart Wii days. So much nostalgia!
Playing Dead Space remake on my Series S. Really good game!
Finished the UC quest line in Starfield and will probably put it on the back burner to play Like A Dragon Gaiden.
Yakuza 3 and some challenge hunting in Hitman WoA
Four new road race events in the recent FH5 update so that will be getting a blast.
Playing a bit of Halo Infinite and possibly Super Mario Wonder still. Played some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe last night as the last wave of DLC came out.
I am playing yakuza like a dragon the man who erased his name
I am enjoying it taking my time I haven't even finished chapter 2 yet but I have nearly 30 achievements but I am thoroughly enjoying it
I wanted Try wild hearts but I've heard how bad it runs on the series s I'm playing the dead space remake and red dead redemption 2 again it really is one of the best games ever made regards to the new yakuza spinoff I'm way behind on them gmaes about 7 games behind I've got some catching up do 😆
Alan wake 2. What a weird and awesome game GOTY so far.
Also thirsty suitors.. I downloaded it to try it out and got hooked.
Also a bit of chronicles of miriam
@fabisputza007
I'm really interested in Alan Wake 2, is the first one essential to play before the second one?
I'm still chipping away at Forza motorsport & Riders Republic for now. Also hitting Party animals & Head bangers: Rhythm Royale in short bursts.
I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but its still 'The Crew Motorfest' to the exclusion of everything else, much to my surprise!
What I thought would be a bit of fluff and an inferior Forza Horizon rip off, has shown much more depth and longevity than I could have guessed, and its all myself and the wife want to play - both of us have well over 100 hours each into it.
I rarely laugh and scream with joy playing games these days, but Im doing it a lot with this title - reminds me of the lifelong joy and happiness games have given me.
I had planned plugging in my joystick (its a big heavy beast), and hitting some schmups, but I suspect I'll be back in motorfest instead.
Whatever and where ever you play, I hope you have great weekend!
Like a Dragon Gaiden, awesome game!
Replaying Far Cry 4. So fun - but damn I wish this game got the 4K treatment. Dynamic 900p is rough.
@The-Grezzly-Bear I highly recommend you watch YouTube recap of the story so far.
I am still lost on many aspects of the story but that's the whole point...it gets weirder overtime and I'm loving it
Mario kart 8 dlc, and Mario wonder with the kids. Pikmin 4 and Mario world for me. Cocoon on xbox
After beating Yakuza: Like a Dragon earlier this week, I decided to return to Yakuza Ishin(the remake, from early this year) so that's what I'm working on this weekend on Xbox.
On PS5, I'm playing RoboCop: Rogue City mixed with a bit of Soul Hackers 2 and on 3DS, I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei IV.
I finally caved and bought Baldur’s gate 3 (sorry, couldn’t wait for the Xbox version!). Looking forward to getting stuck in over the weekend. Will also try and squeeze some Forza Motorsport in.
Xbox - starfield
Nintendo - New Super Mario bros 2
Sony - Farpoint (psvr1)
Pc - Civ 6, Lamplighters league (pc gamepass)
I will try Wild Hearts but if it doesn’t grab me I will keep grinding on Borderlands 1. At 62% but the last achievements are multiplayer or arena and not good at that….
Aabs Animals (Vita) - Weird little pet game my daughter is playing with me.
Doodle God Blitz (Windows Phone) - 2/3 of the way complete now.
Street Fighter 6 and King of Fighters 15.
This week I finished up a bunch of Switch games like SMB Wonder, the Pokemon Teal Mask DLC, and the new Mario Kart DLC. I just bought Alan Wake 2 on PC and can't wait to dive in!
The new season of MK1. I really badly want to play AW2 and MGS but theres just no time, so I will be waiting on those
I beat Spider-Man 2 last night, so I’ll either be cleaning up side content or jumping into Immortals of Aveum.
I'm on Alan Wake 2 now, after finishing SM2 last week. I'm about 5 chapters in and in all honesty am a little underwhelmed. While it is amazing in moments (notably the much discussed second 'chat show' chapter), it is sometimes too obtuse for its own good, to the point where I'm just wandering around aimlessly, constantly getting lost and even when I know what I'm doing, I'm often asking why. And the combat isn't great, made worse when enemies keep respawning when I inevitably get lost...
Nonetheless, despite the gripes the atmosphere is great and I'm keen to push on...
@Titntin I have heard nothing but good things about Crew Motorfest. I am hoping that someone will.have it as part of a Black Friday sale. I did enjoy the first Crew and do enjoy Forza Horizon so this game seems right up my alley.
Diablo IV (Xbox) Finally started this one, currently got a level 12 Shadowmancer going.
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (Xbox) I know Halloween is over but for some reason I decided to fire this one back up. Maybe it's because I never finished this one.
I'd love to play Gaiden, but have to finish Like a Dragon first. Tbh should probably play Yakuza 4,5,6 before Like a Dragon to avoid spoilers. I thought it was a comple spinoff when I started it, had no idea it had anything to do with the main series.
@FraserG you should be ashamed of yourself, go and play Yakuza 0 right now
One of the best games ever made IMO.
I'm finishing coffee talk before it leaves gamepass. Then I'm accepting suggestions, anyone? lol
This weekend I’m finishing up Alan Wake 2 for the PS5. I’m on my way to the platinum trophy, with all collectibles obtained. My focus now is leisurely completing the main story and I should be set.
As of right now it’s my GOTY. I believe it’s in a league of its own and has officially stamped Remedy into legendary status. I would compare them to Naughty Dog (to me) and Kojima in that regard. They should have free rein to do whatever they want because of their creativity.
And just when I think games can’t shake things up in originality, Remedy comes along to remind me that it’s still possible. How they are able to pump out consistent titles at a frequent volume is astonishing. The best way to describe it is simply Nintendo-esque.
Speaking of Nintendo, I’m slowly chipping away in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. I’m presently on the 5th world, and have managed to procure all Wonder Seeds minus a small handful. I’ve also unlocked secret locations that provide really fun challenges. I love how there are secrets everywhere — not just in the actual levels themselves, but in the over world as well. Wonder definitely harkens back to my favorite Mario game, Super Mario World.
Next up on my list: Super Mario RPG. I can’t wait for its release next Friday.
Oh wild hearts? Im not playing that currently. But there's no cross save between xbox and pc gamepass for this game. I started the free trial on series x. Then when I heard it was coming to gamepass, I downloaded it on PC. But my save wasn't there, so had to start over:(
I'm currently playing a bit of like a dragon gaiden on PC and neverwinter on PS4. I've also been playtesting blue protocol. But I didn't really have much time to play that long enough. N I got work tomorrow.
Playing some Anno 1800 via the free trial weekend thing. Really enjoying it and will be putting it on my Christmas list!
Once again tried to get into Yakuza...really want to like it ..I just can't do it...I sat watching all the cut scenes ...but they just seemed to never end...20 seconds of gameplay then more cutscenes...just ended up skipping them all and got to the end of chapter one.
Alan Wake 2 - far and away my Game of the Year; just reached point of no return so expect near the end of the game but happily will play again as need to replay for the collectible achievements…
Alan Wake 2 and Robocop for me, both amazing games 🙂
Alrighty well we got our last big week of games of the year I feel coming up so here we go. Of course I know we still got some games coming out this year like Dragon Quest Monsters 3 for Switch and Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising for PS5 but personally I feel like Switch has its last big games this week in Super Mario RPG a game I’m very very excited for and Persona 5 Tactica another game I’m hype about. And the PS5 had its last big games last week with COD MWIII and Like A Dragon Gaiden. Speaking on that last one that’s where we’ll start this week as that’s easily my game of the week it feels so good to be playing another game with Kiryu I mean Joryu. A good Yakuza beat ‘em up style game makes next years LAD8 and it’s RPGness just that little bit easier to stomach. Otherwise a perfectly ordinary time with some excellent games like Pikmin 4, Sea Of Stars and Star Ocean 2 as usual. Oh and of course some excellent Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with friends to see the rest of the Booster Course. That really was a excellent DLC a collection Nintendo did honestly worth the money. Also Nintendo please put Pauline in MK9 or 10 or whatever you’ll call it thanks. Like most people it’s time to knuckle down and work on GOTY games. I mean man after the Tekken 8 reveal tonight we got the Game Awards nominees tomorrow like that’ll make my game carving path really easy. I know it’s probably gonna mean blitzing and finding out truly how a game like Baldurs Gate 3 works. Might snag UMVC3 tho as it’s on sale for the price of a decent lunch. So yeah a week of Spider-Man 2 and Mario Wonder and Sonic Superstars and Pikmin 4 and Alan Wake 2 and Sea of Stars and maybe Tales of Arise awaits. And of course Super Mario RPG at the end of the week seriously you guys I’ve never played this game I can hardly wait. Gonna try to finish Arnold Schwarzeneggers new show on Netflix FUBAR this week so I can move on to the Onimusha anime and the Scott Pilgrim show too. Anime of the week of course gotta go to Eminence In Shadow, Inexperienced Love Story, Frieren, Spy X Family, and Shangri La Frontier. Those are the easy stand outs of the season so far. And podcasts this week gonna be bulky as I gotta give a shout-out to the ones getting me through work of course being Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Remap Radio, RPGsites Tetracast, Friends Per Second, Minnmax and of course Into The Aether. All absolutely excellent and amazing. As always everyone have a excellent weekend and Happy Gaming.
@Nightcrawler71 did the same thing man. Would’ve preferred it on Xbox but that’s Microsoft’s fault
Halo 5 and I have Alan wake 2 installing right now, hoping it finishes tonight
Paused Alan Wake 1 because the combat was getting too repetitive.
Played 3-4 hours of Like A Dragon Gaiden and enjoyed it. Very satisfying combat and the overall narrative is pretty cool. Don't think I'll commit much more to it though.
