It's time for the weekend! There's plenty to enjoy on Xbox over the next couple of days, including a bunch of recent Xbox Game Pass additions, some great Xbox Free Play Days titles, and loads of awesome deals on the Xbox Store!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I once again find myself in a position where I'm playing something I can't talk about! You'll see the review for it very soon though, and I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts. Haven't quite finished yet, so I'll need to spend the rest of my weekend wrapping it up. That'll probably take up most of my time to be honest!
I'm definitely keen to try Balatro as well though. Everyone was saying how incredible this game was last year, and now that it's on Xbox Game Pass, I really have no excuse. I think what puts me off is my lack of poker knowledge, but here's hoping after an hour or two with it, everything will fall into place. We'll see what happens...
Have a good week, folks!
Craig Reid, Video Producer
Look at this Fraser guy, all mysterious and secretive. Well, y’know what? Same! Yep, I’m playing that exact game too. Not gonna lie - I just wanted to sound cool and mysterious as well.
If all goes to plan, I’ll be rounding up a Hookshot squad for Monster Hunter Wilds. Tonight, it’s pizza, beastie-slaying, and a good laugh with friends. If I can’t wrangle the gang over the weekend, I’ll just boot up Watch Dogs: Legion and do all of the hackety-hacks in heckin’ Hackney, govna!
Well, enjoy your weekend, and happy gaming folks!

Finished Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. I preferred the second. The first had massive difficulty spikes, tedious sections (piranhas, underwater, horses) a terrible camera and some bosses that seemed immune to most attacks except jump, slash, retreat. The sequel was much more fun, I even enjoyed the infamous staircase, but also pretty forgettable.
I'm now playing Braid Anniversary Edition. A timeless classic. Thankfully it's been so long i've forgotten many of the puzzles and am scratching my head figuring them out. Inspired design.
Warhammer 40k - Space Marines 2 - I'm still having so much fun with this game. With there were more of everything with this game 🙂
Avowed - The game has grown on me. The solution to enjoying it more for me was that I stopped treating it as an AAA rpg (its to shallow and lacks that immersion and interactivity for that imo) and instead as an AA adventure game with fun exploration in a beautiful world and that works good. Mainly just doing the main quests with a bit of extra running around. Also lowered difficulty, dont want to have to grind for levels. So yeah, not a perfect game at all but enjoyable 🙂
On Series X I’ve started Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It throws you in at the deep end a bit, but I’ve now got freedom of action and will be looking to make a bit of money, preferably by non-violent means, as I’m pretty poor at fighting!
Playing avowed and finishing off campaign of sniper elite resistance. I am playing brotato on legion go from gamepass love a daily go at levelling up weapons and characters. Finally trying to overlook the awful ui of test drive and think ive gone back 10 years to remind me what test drive and need for speed use to be like.
Playing Avowed. I think I've done almost everything in the first main area. Upgrading my gear and should be moving onto the next main area soon. Pretty fun game.
Still playing Avowed close to 40 hours in and I'm just finishing up the 3rd areas side quests and bounties honestly don't want it to end the world is just fun to explore and it's packed with things to find.
Still enjoying my time in Avowed on series X, it has it's issues but it's a really good game. I still have the last two levels of Indiana Jones to finish too, I have to do smaller sessions on that or I get a bit motion sick!
On PS5 I'm playing Fabledom, a fantasy city builder thats been in my wishlist since release and is finally on sale at £11.99! It may be a little 'cutesy' for some, but I love it 😁
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!
I finally 100% Brotato and DLC and loved it! Slay the Spire has replaced it as my short amount of time game… for longer gaming times I am going to play Avowed or maybe get back into Indy … we will see but have a nice gaming weekend if you can!
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
I have racked up 200 hours in this game - an amount of time I’ve never spent on a single game in a continual manner without getting burned out. In terms of story, I’m roughly fifty percent through the main campaign. My goal is to have every side quest and trophy mopped up that doesn’t relate to main missions before I push onward to the end of the game.
In the last ten hours, my Henry has crawled in manure to search for a man, has built pyramids out of human remains, been so drunk that someone stole his shoes in the middle of the town square, helped a young man from being bullied by villagers, and went down to the depths of hell (almost literally) to stop demons from coming out of the pitts and killing livestock. It resulted in me in losing my entire clothing and weapons, and killing a man who lost his mind to darkness and his mission.
If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, just know that I’m considered to be the Dark Lord who has the nickname Sourdough. I’m quite literally the epitome of a Jack of all Trades. I’m not to be trifled with.
If I can stop playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 for a second I might give Avowed a go. Either that or go back to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There's some decent games on GamePass lately.
I'm still hitting the backlog I was playing Hogwarts but it's not really my type of game so I started playing dead rising 3 and it's amazing I'm loving it so far so I'll be on that a bit of Hogwarts and some Forza horizon!
Happy weekend peoples 👍
I just got all the achievements on Just Cause 3 which was a nightmare. Now I'm starting Just Cause 4 and I hope that it's not as brutal as 3.
Finished Avowed last night, enjoyed it a lot. Probably going to give games a break for a few days. 50 hours plus in 10 days is enough.
Started watching the blacklist so probably go on with that and maybe the new series of Reacher on Prime
Playing some Avowed of course, having a great time with that. I'll probably play some Balatro at some point too.
I should be getting close to finishing avowed so hopefully i can complete that. I might start a replay of doom eternal or finally get around to finishing spiderman 2 on PS as well.
I wasn't expecting a recent rewatch of The Martian to get me hooked on Starfield again. So I will play that here and there as well. Such a good game.
On Series X I am on my second go at Avowed doing an unarmed pugilist run. I thought i did a pretty good job of finding all the hidden stuff in my first go around but it seems I did miss a bunch of stuff as i am still finding new stuff.
Also playing some Balatro & its an ok math puzzle wrapped up in poker (lite & tcg). I can see the appeal but its not something I am going to be obsessed with.
On PS5 i picked Solasta Lightbringer Edition (all dlc.) in current sale. Its a fun crpg and while its no Baldur's Gate 3 or even Pathfinder it does have its own charm, certainly engaging enough that i want to keep playing it.
Hoping to have time to finally finish the wonderful Indiana Jones. Also hoping to try Monster Hunter Wilds with a friend who generously gifted me the game. If there is still time thereafter, I'll dive back into the first Kingdom Come Deliverance which I started last weekend in an effort to gain the maximum backstory for the sequel.
This weekend I'll mainly play Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition and Balatro.
Started Balatro, dangerously addictive, can see my whole weekend disappearing into that, Topspin too maybe
On xbox- wwe 2k24
Alone in the Dark I'm nearly done with the 4th chapter and next chapter is the final. I think I'm going to power through and try to finish tonight/ tomorrow.
On switch- DQIII HD2D to be honest, I'm not enjoying this one anymore. I'm just trying to roll credits since I've invested so much time. I've turned down the difficulty to easy to avoid any severe grinding. I think I'm in the final 5 or so hours of this one too, and I can't wait to be able to move on.
I'm still on Rare Replay. Working up through the classics. Ton of fun.
Only Avowed for me but I'm trying to finish it to start Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
Still mostly playing Avowed. Have clocked up around 48 hours play, and am now in the third region - Shatterscarp. I’m pretty happy with my current build - on one loadout I have “exceptional grimoire of rime” and “Minoletta’s conduit” wand. On the other loadout I have “Drawn in winter” axe, and “tree of life” shield. Going to try and finish the game before/by AC Shadows comes out.
Playing Doom 2016, then going to move onto Eternal. Getting ready for Dark Ages. Awesome games that I think are what I needed. Was getting a little burnt out on RPGs and souls likes. Needed something more mindless and shorter time commitment
@Nightcrawler71 that wand is great, the upgrade you can add to it giving it extra range is amazing. You can cheese so many fights from distance with it.
I went for wands in both load outs giving me 8 spells to choose from. But I also wasn't a fan of hand to hand combat in the game.
I am playing Avowed and enjoying it. Nothing revolutionary, but the combat and exploration is fun.
At the age of 42 I have discovered the joys of playing coop games with buddies online. Currently playing through Gears of War Ultimate and loving it!
@FatGuyInLilCoat I'm getting burnt out on rpgs myself. That's why I'm worried to give avowed a try. Might be better to wait it out. Not to mention, about to jump in XCX later this month 🤦♂️
@NintendoByNature definitely. Yeah I started Avowed and I will for sure play/finish it, but now just wasn't the time. After I finish a game i generally have to play something pretty different or I find myself getting bored. I'm looking forward to Atomfall later this month.
Avowed (Series X) Started this game a few days ago and I am loving it. I am not far into it been most just exploring the world. I Just got to Paradis and currently doing a dual welding axe and sword build.
The Sims 2 (PC) Still messing around with this game. It's mainly my chill game when I only have a bit of time to play a game.
World of Warcraft Classic Anniversary (PC) Still exploring the lands of Azeroth. I just arrived in Stonetalon Mountains with my Tauren Shaman.
Avowed for me on series x this weekend.
I see Xbox all Access has been pulled from the UK last week.
Was a good way to buy series console and GPU for 2 years at a slightly lower price and interest free.
Was a nice option that the other two did not offer.
It’s a disgrace that they added Watch Dogs Legion to GP…there is a critical save bug that can completely reset ur progress and since the devs have abandoned the game and it’s no longer receiving updates it was never resolved
Stalker 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds for me
Avowed. Absolutely loving it. GOTY.
Started Avowed and also downloaded Balatro. More than enough there for the weekend!
I am tempted to get RDR2 in the sale but there are probably too many new games I want to play to justify going back to one one already done (even if it is one of my top 3 of all time).
@mac_da_man I also lowered difficulty near the end bc the battles were starting to get tedious
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Dailies and Adventure mode still.
Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - Took some time off last week, back to the grind!
Microsoft Minesweeper (Windows Phone) - Also need to get back into this as well.
I’ve been loving Turbo Overkill on Steam Deck. Colin was talking about it on Sacred Symbols and I thought it sounded great. I managed to get it for under $4 on CD Keys. I might also play some Avowed if I get a chance after the kids go to bed.
Im currently finishing up The Division 2, About 40 hours in and have 1 more main mission to do.. After that I'm debating between playing Monster Hunter Wilds or Avowed..
Still playing Avowed.
Desperately trying to finish Metaphor Refantazio, I think I'm near the end but I've been through seemingly 10 "this is it, this is the end" fights. I'm on my 3rd month playing through a single player game yet again. I keep doing this to myself, playing 100+ hour epics over and over while on old dad gaming hours.
It was a DIY weekend for me, so there was no real game time. I sat down on Sunday evening around 7pm, grabbed the Switch, and played some Balatro. Looked up 5 mins later and it was 11pm 🤣
