Welcome to another weekend! We've got a bunch of new Xbox Game Pass titles to enjoy over the next couple of days, along with more Xbox Free Play Days additions and a special "Teaser" sale ahead of the Xbox Summer Sale 2024!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I'll tell you what I've been playing a lot recently - an overlooked indie game from 2022 called Cursed to Golf. I didn't really expect to enjoy it much, but I've found myself absolutely hooked by it over the past couple of weeks.
When I'm not playing that, I'm hoping to dive into Starfield's Creations suite properly this weekend, and I've also re-downloaded Dead Rising ahead of the remaster's arrival later this year. I never really played much Dead Rising 1 back in the day (I spent much more time with the third game), so I'm looking forward to checking it out properly.
Have a good weekend, folks!

As it's a part of Free Play Days this time out, I'll probably hop back into The Crew Motorfest this weekend. Ubisoft's Forza Horizon-like is just such a chill thing to jump in and play, and with an influx of free trial players coming online this weekend, I'll probably be giving some of those multiplayer events a go!
Other than that, I've been getting a Call of Duty Zombies itch this week, so I'm tempted to get back on an older CoD and see what's what. To be honest, I wish these were all on Xbox Game Pass already, but for now, I'll either dig an old disc out or boot up one of the PlayStation Plus versions over the weekend.
Enjoy your weekend, PXers!
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

I'm getting pretty close to finishing up Octopath Traveler 2 and still really enjoying it. I don't usually get this into JRPGs outside of Pokemon.
Today, I’ll be finishing off the Case of the Golden Idol, which I started yesterday. Really enjoying this one, the same sort of deductive, thinky game as Return of the Obra Dinn or Botany Manor. I’ve seen some criticism of the visual style, but it has grown on me. I’m down to the last few chapters, but I think I’ll buy the dlc as well.
On my Xbox I'm playing Aliens Fireteam with a mate, and when I get a chance, I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3 doing a Dark Urge run on Tactician difficulty (though truthfully, I'm struggling to do anything evil. It's just not in my nature! 😂).
On my PC, I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3 with a mate in a duo run, and also have a trio run ongoing with yet another mate. So in all, I have three different games of BG3 on the go.
Both my PS5 and Switch are sat idle at the moment.
Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty much still taking up all my game time, and I love it...
I’m diving into some more of Stampede. Cracking game and the courses so far are great fun. Graphically reminds me of Splatoon. Got a very Nintendo feel to it and that’s all good!
@fraserg
Coffee Talk 2. Been putting it off long enough and I don't play it now, I'll have to bymuy the switch double pack.
Rise of the Ronin - So I´ve finally petted all the f-n cats 😅 I have some missions left and some cleaning up for the platinum, so I´ll probably give my final thoughts next week. Still fun to play, but the game is a bit too long and bloated imo. I´m normally immune to open world fatigue and long games, but this one is pushing me a bit. Still, breaking it up with other games helps 😊
Still wakes the deep - Finished it last weekend. Really enjoyed it, especially the voice acting which was top notch. The story was good but a bit predictable, the performance on my series S wasn’t great but still, very good game!
The First Descendant - This game really isn’t very good, but it has that little something that makes me keep playing it 🙂 Missions are very repetitive, but that means I can turn my brain off and just cruise around for some shooting and looting. There is a story, it looks decent, and gameplay is ok. Its really a mixed bag of games you´ve played before, but not necessarily better than any of them. So, again, not very good but pretty fun to play when I´m in that mood and its free. Just don’t blame me if you try it and hate it, I´ve warned you twice now its not very good 🫣😅
I have got into playing Warframe again. It's mostly due to trying out The First Descendent and wanting a more polished experience.
While Warframe has the same grind and so on it's just a much better experience all around.
Also playing a bit of Forza Motorsport after the recent update 10. They added a proximity radar and it makes a world of difference. It takes all the guess work out of over taking someone & you know exactly where the other person is in relation to you.
I got my Lenovo Legion Go and so was looking at some “play anywhere” games. This week I have been playing Tinykin and it is absolutely incredible. Over the weekend might try out some other PC Gamepass games; started Lies of P last night but I suck at these games.
Also bought Dark Forces and Samurai Warriors 5 on Series X.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) - I rage quit this back in the day. I'm determined to get through it this time.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Made it to chapter three, making slow and steady progress.
Microsoft Bingo (Windows Phone) - Plodding away with this still...
Finished Far Cry 5 for the second time. I think I'll be playing New Dawn now.
Finished
Playing
Paused
Backlog
Still Cyberpunk, but now interspersing with some Top Spin 2k25 to mix things up. Hoping to finish Cyberpunk and then do Still Wakes the Deep but realistically that isn't happening this weekend.
Legend of Kay
Giving Concord a go and… uh… two birthday parties and a funeral, so there’s my weekend.
On Switch: paused my playthrough of Tales of Vesperia due to combat just being an uninteresting slog and game just keeps forcing you to fight so that really killed my enthusiasm for continuing but I think I just need a break from it.
Instead I finally started playing Master Detective Archives: Rain Code and will play it a bit to see if it's what I want to invest in right now.
On Xbox: I don't really have anything planned for my Xbox sessions this weekend but I guess I will slowly make my way through S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl if I do play on it.
On PS5: Pretty much still nothing.
Have a good weekend, people.
World of Warcraft Mist of Pandaria Remix (PC) Little more then a month left of this event and it feels like I got so much to do!!! Currently have a level 70 Troll Paladin, a level 70 Nightborne Shadow Preist and a level 25 Blood Elf Death Knight.
FC24 (Series X) With the Euro and Copa America Final this weekend I have been in a mood for a soccer game and having FC24 on Gamepass will do the trick.
Gamepass - Humankind
Pc - the outer worlds spacer choice edition
Ps5 - medievil
I'm playing through the Halo Master Chief Collection, currently on the Halo 2 story. It's my first time playing the anniversary versions of Halo 1 and Halo 2, so seeing the updated graphics/cutscenes has been cool. Also, these games never get old for me.
ALBW, Live a Live, and Still Wakes the Deep.
Taking time off elden ring gonna play bee simulator its beautiful and peaceful please buy it only 2 euros at the moment and I'll be playing eafc 24 and mafia 3 hope everyone has a nice weekend 🤯
@Old_Man_Harper Is the game as hard as Obra Dinner?
That game was too obscure for me
I plan on finishing Jusant and starting MyRise on WWE 2K23, will also sprinkle in some EA Sports FC 24 (I miss just writing FIFA) and some EA Sports PGA Tour Golf.
But perhaps more importantly the final of Euro 2024 is tomorrow and England are involved!
I never expected it before the tournament and even less so during, given some of the awful performances England have put in. But I'm all in for it, and crossing my fingers the Bellingham, Foden & Co can bring the trophy home!!!
Happy gaming everyone 👍👍
Shadow of the Erdtree
Just before bed last night I beat Bayle the Dread, and between the visual effects in HDR, the 11/10 music track, and the npc with you, it's immediately on the list of my favorite fights ever in souls games.
Playing Splatoon3 on my Switch - my preferred colour is green #
Just started playing Rage 2 again, which is a blast. Forgot how satisfying the guns are. The graphics still hold up surprisingly well too.
Peggle power wash simulator mw3 (360) others
Scarlet Nexus, reaching chapter 10 now. It takes me some time, but I wanna finish this game very soon. When I finished this, maybe I'll be playing Sea of Stars or Lies of P.
Also started Dead Island 2 on Series X. (not Gamepass, I bought the disc)
I’ve been having trouble deciding what to really jump into next. So in the meantime I’ve been diving back into so comfort food games. So I’m working my way through the Gears of War remaster and Halo 2 in the Master Chief Collection. Those games are fun every time I go back to them. Have a great weekend!
Xbox Series X: Jumping between Witcher 3 and BG3.
Diablo 2 reloaded has its claws in me. Lots of endless creature bashing for me, what fun 😊
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!
Hello there fellow gamers.
Having finished the amazing Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC on my PS5, now I´m back at playing Assassins Creed Odissey on my Series X.
I´m pretty late to the party with AC Odissey and I don´t see why the game got so much flak. It is pretty great in my opinion.
I´ve been pleasantly surprised by the narrative and beautiful Greek landscapes. It is a BIG game, that´s for sure.
Cheers and happy gaming weekend to us all
@Jenkinss Hi there friend.
I absolutely agree. That whole fight with Bayle the Dread and Igon hyping you up was PEAK Fromsoftware Boss fight for me personaly.
It was so Hype and Spectacular in both visuals, music and character. Utter briliant.
Cheers
Case of the Golden Idol and a little Like A Dragon on gamepass, Ghost of Tsushima on ps
D4. Just can’t stop playing. Love it.
@The-Grezzly-Bear
You know it will end in tears….and it won’t be tears of joy!
I’m still working my way through Shadow of the Erdtree, but because I hate myself, I’m also playing Sekiro on Steam Deck.
Well here we go with another excellent WAYP. Been a weird week around here. Still feeling kinda depressed but also the depression breaking a little I guess? Weekends been mostly busy with work tho I did get two nice Summer Nights Splatfest days in Splatoon 3. Beautiful colors the whole time and honestly winning or losing I genuinely had a good time regardless with it so that was awesome. Also tried out the Concord beta on PS5 and honestly while I was a little eh on it at first once I played a couple matches I enjoyed it. Thought I wouldn’t be able to play my “waifu” character Haymar but then I realized the optimal way to play her and it was loads of fun. And having those live service goals that get paid out like job tickets getting the bottom part torn off upon completion? Crazy satisfying. Looking forward to the full game. Thinking the rest of the weekend will just be a Persona 3 Reload weekend or FFXIV Dawntrail. Again it really comes down to just how I feel and what I want of my games. The rest of the week is honestly gonna reflect the rest of the summer minus the addition of games like Kunitsu Gami or maybe a preorder of Star Wars Outlaws or this years EVO where we’ll most likely get fighting game DLC. And that’s me mostly wanting to knock out all the cool games of the first half of the year. On the switch we’re talking Paper Mario, Luigi’s Mansion 2, Monkey Ball, Monster Hunter Stories and of course my lovely Trails Through Daybreak. Got to play that on my day off and it was just absolutely lovely amd everything I wanted and more. And over on PS5 that means games like Persona 3 Reload, FFXIV Dawntrail, Stellar Blade, Sand Land, FFVII Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, WWE 2K24 and Dragons Dogma 2. Wanna knock most of these out by the last week of August which I consider to be the start of the second half of games where they just start coming out one week after the other rapidfire. I may also wanna dabble in some Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. Played it a little when it came out and honestly I really love the gameplay loop of those games, a craving I guess ahahaha. Also may want to check out the Starfy games. Starfy is so cute and awesome and honestly the fact they put them on NSO like they did is really interesting. Anime of the week gotta go to Kaiju No.8, Oshi No Ko, Delicious in Dungeon and Urusei Yatsura of course. Oshi No Ko specifically is incredibly amazing honestly. That show has not missed yet. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast,Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Let’s Anime and Remap Radio. And yet we wouldn’t be done without a incredible huge lovely superb wonderful shoutout to my dear friend over at twitch.tv/akibread and their wonderful streams please give them a look. As always yall stay safe, stay cool and refreshed and be incredible to each other. Have an excellent weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
@JonBoyJ
Yep...
@adderblack39 Not as hard as Obra Dinn, but there are some challenging scenarios. In a couple of cases I simply couldn’t understand how they could be solved with the limited amount of clues provided, but everything needed is there and I did! In some cases the clues you need are contained in earlier scenarios and you have to revisit them. Also, like Obra Dinn, the overarching story is a good one.
