Welcome to the weekend! We're sure Avowed will be dominating many Xbox owners' free time over the next couple of days, but don't forget about the Xbox Free Play Days titles as well, along with the usual batch of great Xbox Store deals!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I'll be honest and say that Avowed doesn't really seem like my kind of game, so I don't think I'll be dipping into that one over the weekend. Instead, it'll probably be more Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (loving it so far!) along with maybe some WWE 2K24, Baldur's Gate 3 and possibly even some Starfield with mods.
Super Mario Party Jamboree is my guilty pleasure at the moment as well, and I wish we had some kind of first-party alternative on Xbox! Fusion Frenzy and Kung Fu Chaos are probably the closest Microsoft ever got, and personally I don't think either of them stack up very well - especially not by today's standards. A missed opportunity perhaps...
Have a good weekend, folks!

This week has been quite something, and to offset it, I’m spending most of my weekend on my Xbox. You’ll find me curled up on the sofa under a warm blanket, sipping hot chocolate, munching sweeties, and slapping up on Marvel Rivals.
I’ve mostly played as Luna Snow, but I’m eager to try out the other heroes. Hawkeye is pretty jazzy—I’ve won a few games with him now—but it’s time to get out there and see which caked-up superhero suits Craigo the mostest.
Have a lovely weekend, and happy gaming, folks!

Finally going to get some time with Avowed. Only got to play a couple hours this week because work was a little hectic. Looking forward to taking a deep dive the next couple days.
You know, the last maybe two weeks has been a weird time for me. I’ve not really played much of anything lately. Have been sort of off, personally.
I bought KCD2 and started it, but just haven’t played it much, and my friends have been wanting to play Marvel Rivals, but I’ve been falling asleep too early, so I’ve missed out. I’ve wanted to start Lost Records and Avowed too, but again, I’m falling asleep too early and haven’t done that. I suppose it could be any one of those games I play this weekend, but I’m hoping to hop onto that Sonic Crosswinds network test as well.
If none of those, I’ve played one game lately two days ago that felt nice to return to and that was We Heart Katamari. That’s a perfect game to knock a funk.
I’m playing Lost Records tape 1 on Series X (I bought it not realising it would be on PS+ which I also have - duh 🤦♂️) I thought I’d have a break between mega-RPGs.
It’s basically a Life is Strange game in everything but the name. I’m quite early into it - it encourages you to look at everything around and even video it, so the pace is quite slow, but I like that in this sort of game.
The story so far reminds me a bit of ‘Yellowjackets’ in that it has two timelines - middle-aged women in the near-present day and their teenage selves in 1995. So far so good, I think.
Gutted. I had to stop playing Avowed as it gave me a seizure 🙄 Rare Replay it is until Watch Dogs Legion.
@Kaloudz Hope you’re ok, my friend. Sorry to hear that.
@Kaloudz wow, that sounds unpleasant - hope you're on the mend.
Finished Ninja Gaiden 2 Black last night which I loved, but to be honest was ready for it to be over. The boss rush in the last couple of chapters is ludicrous.
So starting on Avowed. Also going to get around to trying Metal Slug Tactics, and want to finish off Spyro with my son. Lots of Gamepass!
More importantly - setting up a gaming area in the house with a new TV so I can actually spend some proper time doing my favourite hobby. Sharing a TV doesn't work and I've really gone off watching TV anyway. Gaming is better.
It's Avowed for me this weekend. It's a decent game, a strong 8/10 imo, not the best of its genre, but pretty and plenty to find in its environment. I enjoy it best in 3rd person, but both views work. I also intend to finish Indiana Jones and the great circle, I'm on the penultimate level of that fine game.
If I get time, I'll get back to Atlas Fallen on PS5 as I was enjoying that.
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun. 😄
Warhammer 40k - space Marines 2 - still having so much fun with this games. Been playing some multiplayer and some of the operations, and I feel like I will keep playing this game for a long time. Might even go for the platinum 🙂
Avowed - I´ve managed to get maybe 6 hours in, and the game is growing on me despite some minor issues I have that might be something others dont really care about. The physics of the game is a bit all over the place which sadly my brain really registers and it brakes the immersion for me. Like, mugs are all breaking the laws of physics and cannot be moved whatever you do, grass doesnt catch on fire, NPCs are mostly (all?) standing still and also cant be hit with anything, unlimited arrows that dissapear after a few seconds, enemy weapons dissapear when they are defeated etc etc and Skyrim for example did all that a lot better 14 years ago. Its just something I expect in a first person RPG but that may be a non issue to some but its going to take some getting used to for me.
It does look pretty good though, and runs fairly well on the Series S. Exploration and movement feels really good, combat is ok and the story and side quests so far are ok. Im a big fan ot these kinds of games and I love exploring the world. Hoping the game keeps growing on me and I really should try and enjoy it for what it is, not what I want it to be 🙂
@Scrubchub @somnambulance Thanks guys. Appreciate it 🥰 it's just one of those things eh? Epilepsy ftw 😭🤣
Having not been sure 5 hours in, I'm now 22 hours into Avowed and really enjoying it.
Hard to score it if I'm honest. I could probably list 10 issues with it and yet I don't really feel any of them are breaking my enjoyment of it.
I haven't been this engaged in a game for some time. Well done Obsidian!
River city girls 2, was waiting for it to go on a decent sale, so I'll be sinking probably all weekend into it
Black ops 6, Lonely Mountains snow riders,
Super mario world
@Kaloudz I hope you will be better soon
@Kaloudz Dang man, I hate to hear that. Get well soon.
@Kaloudz glad you're doing okay!
I'm on the final episode of the the last walking dead game.... only took me 4+ months to get there lol. I wish I had gamepass when I was a kid with time so I could actually fully enjoy basically having a blockbuster at my fingertips
I'll be continuing on Hogwarts I'm enjoying it so far I'm not really into Harry potter but the game is very good!!
I'll probably play a little avowed and Forza horizon I hope the games help numb the pain of being a united fan the weekends a becoming very bad 🥺
Happy weekend peoples 👍
Played Avowed for 5 hours and uninstalled it. Can’t pretend I don’t see some things after TW3, Baldur’s Gate 3 and CP2077 (poor physics of objects, fire and water, image shimmering in balanced mode, dumb companions, little to no world interactivity etc). At least I didn’t buy it.
Instead I will be finishing Black on Game Pass. Started the game for the nostalgia kick and I’m having a blast. Gameplay still holds up, gunplay is as good as I remember it, great ost, explosions galore). Happy gaming all!
Hmm...guess I will be continuing to fight my way through the endgame in Granblue Fantasy: Relink this weekend.
My nights will most likely be spent with Balatro on Switch.
I also think that I will continue to play either Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or Tales of Graces f Remastered, not sure yet.
@Berserker7 @FarmDog08 @FatGuyInLilCoat
Thanks for the kindness guys ☺️ I'm okay, only lasted a few minutes with a break between, but all well now. ❤️
Still mostly playing Avowed. I’m around 25 hours in, and am now in the second area (Emerald Stair). On one loadout I have Grimoire/pistol, and on the other a giant sword (unique - “Philosopher’s riddle”). Really enjoying the game. If I get time will try out new Gamepass release Warhammer 40K Rogue trader.
I started on Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty last weekend, didn't get very far before I decided it wasn't the game for me, so switched to Tom Clancy's The division instead ( I played both Division games back on PS4 but I'm looking forward to going through them again ) so it'll be that this weekend and looking to start Control Ultimate edition as well.
Happy gaming everyone! 👍👍
I’m all in on Avowed this weekend and I’m loving it. It didn’t catch me at the beginning but after an hour or two it really pulled me in.
@Medic_alert I’m right there with you, it’s somehow nothing special, but really great at the same time. My biggest complaint is that enemies don’t repopulate because the combat is easily the best part and I’d really like to be able to just run around grinding.
Been getting into Monster Hunter as of late and been having an absolute blast with Monster Hunter World, and went ahead and pre-ordered MH: Wilds, So I've been playing world till Wilds comes out!
I'm playing mainly Avowed. I'm really liking it. But I'm salty they nerfed my wizard.
Avowed has really exceeded my expectations. It reminds me of how RPGs used to be in a lot of ways.
I’m also finishing up thirsty suitors, which has been charming and endearing, and moving on to dungeons of hinterberg.
@Kaloudz jeez. Hang in there buddy. I saw that seizure warning and wondered wth that was about. Guess they weren’t kidding. That sucks! They need a no seizure mode.
I’m about 25 hours into avowed (did early access). I really loved it at first but after spending a good chunk of time with it I’m not as enamored- probably a 7/10 for me. Also what happened to being able to really play as an evil character!?
@Kaloudz you are welcome
Avowed for me and as a game playing first person and really enjoying the gameplay, mechanics and modern systems.
Performance could be better, playing on series x set at 60fps VRR Dolby Vision and Atmos.
Getting some engine stutter sometimes and there is some noise/fuzz when panning on certain objects in the secondary distance.
It’s a shame as I reckon it could be sorted out.
Does spoil the game a little for me.
Playing on a top end QD Oled and other games like Indy are perfect so definitely an Avowed issue.
Since I'm on a mini vacation I only brought my switch with. With that said, just DQIII HD2D.
Want to get into Rogue Trader but realistically Gris and Boltgun with a pinch of Slay the Spire - enjoy!
I played about an hour of Avowed and loved it, but as Don't Nod's Lost Records: Bloom & Rage was also released this week, that's what I'll mainly be playing for the foreseeable future.
18 hours into Avowed and I'm just now leaving the first map, Dawnshore. What a fantastic RPG!
@Nightcrawler71 I'm using the same two weapon load outs. So much fun!
Tony Hawk 1+2 if I can find anyone online
Avowed (Series X) After watching my son play this the past few days, I can't wait no more so I will be starting it this weekend.
World of Warcraft Classic Anniversary (PC) Will be Continuing my exploration of Azeroth this weekend.
The Sims 2 (PC) Will be messing around with this some more this weekend.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (Series X) Looking to get a bit of this in as well. Still enjoying this game.
Playing through Avowed with some Marvel Vs Capcom 2 breaks!
I bounced off of Avowed big time on release day - disliked the feel of both 1st and 3rd person POVs, found combat uninspiring, along with various other issues. Decided to give it another go the day after and it started hooking me in after 4-5 hours. I figured the world looked pretty cool and wanted to explore it, so I began adapting to the 1st person POV whilst experimenting with different forms of combat.
But I think the real reasons I’m vibing with it are because of little quality-of-life elements;
Basically, you can pick up and play for as little as a few minutes or commit to a full on session without having to spend time strategising or faffing around with micro-management. That’s why Avowed works for me. It’s a pretty cool place to explore, and - once I’d got over the initial bounce - it makes it easy to progress and continue doing so.
@somnambulance I know how that feels recently so decided to take a small break and try and find something else to do like a proper clean of my house
No gaming for me this weekend having a proper clean of my house hope everyone enjoys there weekend of gaming and has a wonderful weekend
@The-Grezzly-Bear I keep looking at division 2 to pick up. Graphic
Cs in world look great but as solo game mainly not sure how fun it will b. I picked up control after reading great reviews so in my backlog too
Chipping away at Indy which I’m really enjoying. Started predator this week, but getting owned by the predator most matches as little team work going on. I had a great time on ps other year, but struggling at min on this
Like many, I'm getting into Avowed and really enjoying it. Also fitting in some Indy and Forza. Happy gaming.
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Adventure mode and Dailies as usual.
Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - Still tackling a mission here and there.
Microsoft Minesweeper (Windows Phone) - Still blowing myself up daily as well.
@jesse_dylan Haha, I wish! Yeah I'm not sure what triggers them myself as I can never remember the minutes leading up to one, so heck knows. Either way, I've read the story of the plot online so at least I get that
Mostly Avowed for me this weekend and some Black Ops 6 trying to get the dark matter camo.
Continuing my play through of Star Wars Outlaws. Dipping in and out of Hellblade Senues Sacrifice, nearly finished the main story and will then mop up the collectibles. A 5min cloud gaming session on Indiana Jones to get my last achievement now they have fixed the bugs.
@Kaloudz with all the progress we’ve made with accessibility settings in games, you’d think an anti-seizure mode would be on people’s minds! It’s well known enough to have warnings, so why not more?
More FFXIV and Control. Just completed Tails of Arise!
Avowed is not a good game. I will not be playing this filth this weekend
Removed - inappropriate
I played the rest of Avowed over the weekend clocking in over 55 hours. I really enjoyed it. I think now I'll start Like A Dragon Pirates in Hawaii and countnue KCD2.
@Reptilio You can play as the "bad" guy by taking a path that drastically alters the ending of the story in a negative way. You can make or break areas based on your choices too. I don't remember seeing you could be evil anywhere but having the option to basically wreck the living lands and upset everyone is my 2nd playthrough.
I finished Lost Records tape 1, I thought it was terrific. Looking forward to the second episode.
Well here we go with another awesome WAYP. Some of yall may have noticed no WAYP last week from yours truly. Simple answer is I didn’t play nothing. I was on an amazing Valentine’s Day Weekend date with the most amazing girl in the world who I asked to be my girlfriend. But yeah no games mean no WAYP. Most of the week was spent with the new regular games like Dynasty Warriors Origins and Trails Through Daybreak and YS Memoire and FFXIV Dawntrail. Actually ended up beating YS and what cam I say that is one quaint little YS game big fan of the mostly laid back artstyle. Oh yeah I finally did it I beat Metaphor Refantazio Honestly Metaphor was a beautiful game from start to finish an absolute 10/10 no notes beauty from story to characters to the world to even the combat just absolutely incredible. Most of the weekend was spent with Super Mario Party Jamboree and nothing actually. Jamboree honestly still is the best Mario Party recently no joke it’s a lot of fun and so pretty. Played two rounds on the two boards that interested me most the mall and race track ones and playing as Pauline and Rosalina is still so much fun too As for why I played nothing well I got surprised with a visit from my aforementioned girlfriend so I promptly took the Sonic Racing Crossworlds Beta I was gonna try and just well….. didn’t. Like I’ve said before yall some things are more important then gaming and this is one of them. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some WWE2K24 or maybe the Fatal Fury City of the Wolves Beta. Maybe some Fantasian Neo Dimension or even Lost Records Bloom And Rage as I would really like to see how that game plays out considering this is Tape 1. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, FFXIV: Dawntrail, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Dynasty Warriors Origins, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and WWE 2K24. Try to start Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii as yeah I got that as a surprise gift from the GF as well and I’m very much looking forward to enjoying that one. Excited to also pick up a copy of Monster Hunter Wilds this week as well after Pirate Yakuza it’s probably my most hyped game. Question is it it a purchase before going to NYC to see the GF, in NYC or after? Also did preorder Clair Obscura: Expedition 33 and DOOM The Dark Ages too so I’m very hype for those. The wrestling thing this week being the WWE Elimination Chamber and WWE2K25. Yeah there’s some good matches at the first like the Women’s and Men’s Elimination Chamber matches and the Kevin Owens Vs Sami Zayn Unsanctioned Match. As for WWE2K25 I’m just plain excited to get that. Anime of the week gotta go to Dragon Ball Daima and Shangri La Frontier and Solo Leveling and Okitsura and Sakamoto Days and 100 Girlfriends. They all continue to be absolute bangers no notes I will admit I’ve skipped two weeks of anime recently. Also saw that new Captain America movie Brand New World and yeah that was good too. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast, Wrestling is Cool which I wanna give a try and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Have a totally awesome weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
I played a ton of Avowed this weekend. Great game so far
I also played Avowed this weekend. I haven't finished it yet, but i liked it very much and the game is fantastic so far.
@Darylb88 I mean I played as loyal to the empire it didn’t feel evil. I’m thinking about the beginning of dragon quest origins a guy introduces you to his gf and you can say this fat cow? Or comically evil stuff in mass effect like punching the reporter it all just felt very watered down
