Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 28-29)

This weekend I’m combating the Swamps and Bloodsuckers in Stalker 2.

Also on the docket: Persona 3 Reload.

I'm playing Dredge at last and it's truly incredible,so addictive with atmospheric soundtrack and stunning visuals
The gameplay loop makes hours turn into minutes,wish I hadn't waited so long lol

I’m on to the second game of my Christmas leave (Indy was the first) - Stalker 2. I found the prologue was a bit ‘in at the deep end’ - I had to adjust the brightness because it is very dark - but I’m finding my feet now and enjoying it. I haven’t seen any bugs or glitches, so I guess the numerous patches have tidied it up.

Resubbed to GPU, so thought I'd return to Dante's Inferno and finally delve into Indy and Stalker 2 🙂

This weekend I'm playing DQ11 on the Switch and Indiana Jones on Series X. I've put STALKER 2 on hold for now. Its a great game but its really testing my patience at times and I'm not really in the mood for that. On PS5 I'm currently not playing anything but I am considering Rebirth, Infinite Wealth or Silent Hill 2. I might pick up one of them before the sale ends.

As for next year, there's currently 31 games I'm looking forward too. If 1/3 of them actually releases I'll be more than happy with 2025.

Indy - finished it earlier in the week and loved it! It had a good story and fun gameplay (stealth being a bit of a weak point imo) and exploration and most importantly it felt like a great adventure! I can see myself double dip for this game and get it on the ps5 when on a sale 🙂

Behemoth PSVR2 - also finished, and platinumed, which meant playing it twice. Ive enjoyed the game a lot, I like the setting and the fighting and the boss fights are pretty cool. The game could use more polish though, some minor bugs squashed and improvement to controls would be welcome. My own review score? A weak 4 out of 5, but of you are unsure of you like this kind of game wait for a sale or a demo/trial 🙂

​Forspoken - Been giving it a couple of hours, but decided to drop it. Its not a bad game, but its not a good one either and I didnt feel like it was worth my time, at least not right now.

​Sonic frontiers - Didnt click for me, again not a bad game just not for me.

Zelda - echoes of wisdom - Its really a special feeling to play a new Zelda game 🙂 Currently on a family vacation and I basically just started playing but I feel like I will enjoy it 🙂

After having completed the excellent Lies of P I started the first Hellblade. The first impressions are very good. Game Pass suddenly started clicking for me the last couple of months.

In between I’m laying some puzzles on my PS VR2.

Picked up Alan Wake 2 over Christmas so I'll be starting that this weekend, and finally start Indiana Jones as well

Downloaded Indy - time to dive in to that one. Also eyeing Baldurs Gate 3 in the sale and have a good number of games on the Switch as well. As always, I'm game rich and time poor but there you go.

I'll be on robocop and ctr and I'll probably start Indiana Jones or Hogwarts haven't decided yet happy weekend people 👍

Still mostly Path of Exile 2 early access but the further you push into late game the problems the game has become more evident. So I don't get annoyed it might be best to just accept the limitations of the current state of the game & come back later once further patches or content updates have been applied.

I did download Baldur's Gate 3 & WH40K: Rogue Trader as I still have stuff to do in both games. Its probably a good time just to get stuck in while I have some spare time.

Enjoying my time with Marvel Rivals! There's something extremely addictive about the game, and this is coming from someone who doesn't like competitive multiplayer games lol.

Just finished Samurai Warriors Spirit of Sanada so now I'm finishing my New Game+ in Legend difficulty of Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and playing Metaphor ReFantazio.
Maybe a little of Gladius too.

This weekend I'm probably going to rotate between SMTV: Vengeance, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Maybe going to play a bit of Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters aswell(on Switch).

Hoping I can wrap up Indy having arrived at Ur on Christmas night. Been playing a few hours this week with my missus and 80 yr old MIL watching on and being completely immersed - both can’t get enough of it and have been staying up to 2am with me!

Most enjoyable game I’ve played in a long time, with each of the 3 main chapters ramping up the fun and cinematics - eg some real tension and jump moments in Siam once you’re past the cog stuff.

BTW: my MIL is not a normal 80 yr old 😜

IMO I feel Indy is more of an experience than a game, maybe a bit like Hellblade. Dialogue, scripting and cut scenes add to this and are absolutely next level. Plus the risk they took on going 1st person has really paid off.

Still playing Dragon age Veilguard - close to 100 hours now 😲 also playing Infinity Nikki on PS5, which has a GORGEOUS open world. Close to throwing in the towel on the Indy game. I love exploring tombs, and the graphics are fantastic, but the stealth sections - of which there are many - are just too annoying. Now starting to think the PureXbox’s score of 6/10 wasn’t so harsh after all.

@Darude84 I just finished lies of p as well. Such a great game. Can't wait for the DLC and announced lies of p 2.

I'm heading home today from visiting family for the holidays. Managed to get a bit of time this week to finish The Messenger on Steam, so I'm planning to play through its DLC (Picnic Panic) this evening. Will hopefully get back to playing Middle-Earth: Shadow of War after that.

Finished Indy last night, great game, great story.
Will have a look at Persona 3 later this evening.

Unicorn Overlord. If I can manage to put some hours in, I just might finish it before the end of 2024.

@gravelmonkey Your MIL sounds amazing! I'm excited to properly jump into Indy when I'm done with the game I'm currently playing. What I have played of it has been nothing short of enchanting.

Path of Exile 2 and some Indy.

Banishers ghost of new Eden for me , a good game with hard choices. Some performance issues but beautiful to look at. Good story.

Played through Golden Idol as a couch coop game. Definitely challenging to finish it with no hints. Really well done puzzle game.

Borderlands 2 (Vita) - Picked this up again after a long time of being away from it. It's at least playable at least...(Even if this is the worst way to play this game ).

Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Adventure mode and Dailies as usual.

iStunt 2 (Windows Phone) - Almost halfway through the game again getting all stars.

Animal Well on Switch and Indiana Jones on XBOX.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and Disney Dreamlight Valley.

@FatGuyInLilCoat Congrats! I definitely had that “Now I played the whole game but I’ll never be able to beat Nameless Puppet” moment, and then suddenly he went down. Such a great moment.

Finished Indiana Jones and have moved onto The Casting of Frank Stone, which is like going from the best book you ever read to reading the back of a cereal box. And not a kids sugary cereal box.

@swedetrap I don't know The Casting of Frank Stone, but that comparison made me laugh. I'm still playing through Indy, but I'm enjoying it more and more as I play. it's brilliant.
