This month marks two years since LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finally arrived after years and years' worth of anticipation, with many fans back then expecting it to become the biggest and best LEGO game of all time.
Now, as we look back in 2024, it definitely feels like the "biggest" to us. The Skywalker Saga is absolutely packed with massive open areas across nine films' worth of content, and there are loads of side attractions to engage with as well. But is it the best? Although we gave it a "Great" 8/10 at the time, there are a lot of superb LEGO games out there.
And you know what? We'd possibly even argue that it's not the best LEGO Star Wars game. In this writer's opinion at least, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens feels more focused and challenging than The Skywalker Saga, and therefore is perhaps the better package. The Metacritic rating is very similar between the two titles as well.
So, what do you think? Did LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga live up to the hype, or did you find yourself not really engaging with it as much as you expected? Don't forget it's on Xbox Game Pass if you want to try it!

The one thing it does well is consolidate a lot of content from the various other Lego Star Wars games, and streamline an incredibly bloated experience while also getting some new jokes in that, when the original games were made, couldn't happen.
The one thing it doesn't do is offer anything near the seminal Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga. There's a lot that's been changed, some of the jokes have been altered and the DLC has no story content linked to it.
It's a game that promises everything, but, after you get a certain amount into it, you're starting to ask if that's REALLY everything... and find yourself saying 'No, it isn't.'
The only main stream Lego game that wasnt good was The Lego Movie 2 game. It strayed from the standard Lego game style and ruined itself. The Lego games are fun because you can choose from a number of characters and replay levels to get the Red and Gold Bricks and find different things that certain characters are needed for. That is what i love about the Lego games.
Only lego game Ive played so I cant compare but I thought it was pretty good. A nice recap of the 9 movies. I decided right away I wouldnt go for any kind of collectibles and just play the story and I enjoyed it.
Thought Skywalker Saga was too streamlined and, as the game went on, it got pretty boring and repetitive.
Ended up dropping it due to the novelty wearing off fast but also due to me and the guy I played with coming across multiple game-breaking glitches.
Also feel like some of the episodes became too tedious.
By far the best lego game I've played. So much so that I got the grindy plat
I'll give it another go on gamepass but much preferred lego force awakens.
I was very disappointed by it. Lots of filler missions and repeated puzzles/ boss fight mechanics
I really didn’t like it at all. But I figured it just wasn’t for me.
I'm unable to enjoy Lego games. I'm very sorry and I don't exactly why. I wish you all have fun with them.
I didn't play all of it, but I had good fun for sure. They've really refined the formula over the years. I can totally see why when someone wants to play a LEGO Star Wars game then this would be the one they pick up.
Nah , it has none of the charm the other games had , it's just the same thing over and over. The other Lego games blow this one out of the water!!!
In my opinion, yes it lived up to the hype.. I enjoyed the silly, over the top English humor that Traveler's Tales bring to their LEGO games and The Skywalker Saga definitely delivered..
I still play it on and off on my PS5!
It was a fun game that was absolutely crippled by not having online co-op in my opinion.
