Minecraft has been around for what feels like forever, but its enduring popularity means that it's always a part of the conversation - heck, a freakin' movie based on the game was just shown off this week. However, despite the Xbox One version of this everlasting survival game being a decade old today, Microsoft still hasn't launched a native Xbox Series X|S version yet. The question is - why on earth not?!
If you remember, such a thing was actually teased in the run up to the Xbox Series X coming out. Yep, way back in 2020, Microsoft and developer Mojang showcased bits and pieces of Minecraft with ray tracing; intended to be a major feature for current-gen Minecraft. Yet, for some reason, we're still waiting for that version of the game to launch - almost five years later.
To be honest, at this stage, we don't think it'll ever see the light of day. At the tail end of last year, the team added 4K support to Minecraft when playing through Xbox Series X|S backwards compatibility - and even that didn't prompt a native, current-gen version of the game. The Xbox One and PS4 versions remain the most up-to-date console versions of Minecraft - save for the 2018 Nintendo Switch port of course.
Anyway, it's a testament to just how popular Minecraft is that it remains incredibly active and popular for Xbox One a decade later, but we'd still like to see the game take proper advantage of Xbox Series X and S some day. Minecraft has such a unique visual style that throwing RT in the mix would be a fantastic feature for current-gen Xbox players!
Do you think RT will ever come to Minecraft on console? Discuss the Xbox One version's 10-year anniversary down below.

I understand their want to have most versions look the same and their concentration on Physical Based Rendering, but I think it's a real shame they never got Minecraft RT (Ray Tracing) off the ground as that looked truly incredible.
Perhaps we will get a native version when the PBR update finally comes. Though at Mojang's glacial pace that might be on Xbox next.
Ray tracing is never coming to current gen consoles. Get used to that idea RT is a dead horse at this point.
That's not to say improvement isnt on the horizon it is but in the form of physical based rendering or PBR.
Look up some of the recent videos on YouTube from the Minecraft Preview. They are doing some fantastic things with PBR that completely changes atmosphere of the game.
It's coming and yes I wish it would be quicker but this is just Mojang sadly.
There is no current gen.
Loading times are the biggest problem for Minecraft now...
Just another quick note Mojang are currently testing a native PS5 version of Minecraft on their Preview version.
It's not doing anything different to what we have currently on series consoles. It might be a case that once that is approved we will get the optimised for series S/X label too to keep parity (which is the Mojang mantra these days.)
Minecraft's primary platforms are budget phones, potato PCs, and Switch. That will remain Minecraft's primary platforms forever. The rest can come as mods. Console gets what's left. Weird that Xbox has zero priority, but, it's Xbox lol.
That's probably what jack black and his mates are looking for in the movie π€· which people need to stop hating on it looks great!π§βπΎπ§π€Ί
