Yesterday, we published our Pure Xbox Game of the Year results for 2024, and the winner was crowned as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by quite a huge margin, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Hellblade 2 being the runners up.
The GOTY feature is always focused on the games themselves rather than the statistics behind their rankings, so we're using this article to share exactly how you voted on the top ten, as well as the titles that didn't make the list.
Let's start with the games with the most votes this year. As you can see below, Indiana Jones ran away with the votes in the end, but the latter half of the list was extremely close - here's a look at how the voting ended last Wednesday:
Game | Votes | Score |
---|---|---|
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle | 579 | 13.72% |
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 | 344 | 8.15% |
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 | 276 | 6.54% |
Stalker 2 | 225 | 5.33% |
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 | 176 | 4.17% |
Dragon's Dogma 2 | 152 | 3.60% |
Metaphor: ReFantazio | 142 | 3.36% |
Dragon Age: The Veilguard | 131 | 3.10% |
Star Wars Outlaws | 124 | 2.94% |
Death Stranding: Director's Cut | 107 | 2.53% |
You were probably as surprised as us to see the likes of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree missing out on the top ten, but the truth is that they so nearly made it into the list!
Just a few votes separated the final few places in the table, with some fantastic games sadly missing out.
Here's a look at the results for 11th-25th, with the overall number of votes in brackets:
- 11. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth (105)
- 12. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (101)
- 13. Starfield: Shattered Space (96)
- 14. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (88)
- 15. Still Wakes The Deep (80)
- 16. Palworld (71)
- 17. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (71)
- 18. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (69)
- 19. Persona 3 Reload (64)
- 20. Age of Mythology: Retold (56)
- 21. EA Sports College Football 25 (55)
- 22. Path of Exile 2 (51)
- 23. Unicorn Overlord (47)
- 24. Marvel Rivals (46)
- 25. Tekken 8 (42)
There we go - that's what happened! The Pure Xbox Game of the Year for 2024 is officially in the books, with Indiana Jones joining Starfield, Elden Ring, Halo Infinite and Ori and the Will of the Wisps as the winners in recent years.
In 2025, we're hoping we'll be crowing Fable or perhaps DOOM: The Dark Ages as the overall winner in December, although realistically it'll probably be GTA 6 unless it gets a delay! What do you think might have a shot at the title next year? And also, do you agree with the Pure Xbox Game of the Year results overall? Tell us down below.

Clear win for Indy and very well deserved
Keep em coming Xbox at this AAA quality level and above and 2025 should be a great GPU year.
As for 2025 I will say the id tech engine game again and the DOOM developers really know what they are doing.
It has quality top AAA written all over DOOM.
Not surprised a DLC didn't make it. But was really surprised by Infinite Wealth, yeah.
Did you guys have your own GOTY? If it was an article, I missed it.

Although I bounced off Indiana Jones quite early I am not surprised to see it at the top.
I was surprised to see DA: Veilguard make the top ten. For me it was certainly a case of the vocal minority making mountains out of molehills over shadowing how much fun you can have. Hope as it hits more sales or goes on EA Play more folks will give it a chance.
My personal Goty was Stalker 2 and at launch diamond in the rough was certainly an apt description but with each patch the game just got better & better. So I am really excited to see what 2025 will bring for the game & the franchise in general.
@XberOne Totally agree on Indy and id Tech 6 / 7

I would be surprised if dragon age veilguard in fact be in the list
Wow a jrpg beat star wars and dragon age on Xbox. It's a new day.
Playing Indy now and am shocked how good it is.
Let's be fair. Anyone who says Indy is a bad game , either hasn't even played it or just isn't a gamer. And no, playing candy crush on your phone don't make you a gamer.
@jedinite Without taking into account that Indy was making me feel sick I was a bored at the point I gave up on it. Not every game will be for every one and that's all there is to it.
Funny you mention Candy Crush as they have way more gamers playing than Indy will ever have (yes you are the vocal minority in that comparison.) Hence why Microsoft purchased King with Activision & Blizzard being a bonus.
I finished Indy last weekend, my final thoughts, a great rendition of a great movie franchise that make you feel like you are Indiana Jones. With amazing graphics, good performance, good audio, great voice actors, good story, good puzzle gameplay, annoying stealth section, not so good AI. Clearly don't deserve a 6/10. For me it's a good 8/10.
@RiverGenie yeah but that's my point. You can't really equate someone who plays 1 finger mobile games to a console or PC gamer. They are totally different beasts. I'm sorry but I just do not count someone on a train going to work for example and playing 10mins on a mobile as a gamer.
@jedinite Funny thing is most mobile gamers now aren't even that. They are indeed some dedicated gamers in their own way. As many hours and thought that you put into something like Indy they put that same amount of time and energy into mobile games. Nowadays they are just as much as a gamer as people who play on PC and console.
@themightyant ok,understood.thanx!
