It's that time of year again! We're looking to crown a Pure Xbox Game of the Year for 2024, and in order to do that, we're going to need you to vote for the best Xbox games of the past 12 months — only the top ten will make the final cut!
Last year's winner ended up being Starfield, closely followed by Baldur's Gate 3 and Hi-Fi RUSH. Before that, the 2022 winner was Elden Ring, the 2021 winner was Halo Infinite, and the 2020 winner was Ori and the Will of the Wisps!
We'll publish the full top ten here at Pure Xbox around Christmas time, but we'll need a few days to put the results together — so we're asking if you can submit your votes by Wednesday, December 18th. If the game you want to vote for isn't in the poll below, write it in the comments instead and tell us how many points you would have given it.
It'll be interesting to see what wins this year, whether it's an Xbox first-party title such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle or Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, or perhaps one of the highest-rated third-party titles such as Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Metaphor: ReFantazio or even Death Stranding: Director's Cut! It's another truly stacked list in 2024.
Bring on the votes, and may the best game win! If you haven't played enough games to vote for all five this year, that's not a problem - you just need to choose one game at a minimum in the poll down below.

My votes are in.
Will be interesting to see the results.
I can only vote for what I've played:
5 Indiana Jones (gaming dream come true)
4 Hellblade 2 (gorgeous and immersive)
3 Still Wakes the Deep (The Thing remastered?! Skip that and play this instead!)
2 Stalker 2 (very atmospheric and tough as nails)
1 Botany Manor (gotta relax and puzzle sometime eh?)
Owned backlog from the list:
Star Wars Outlaws
Space Marine 2
Waiting on Flight Sim to be out of beta.
Special mention to Death Stranding directors cut which I played on PS5 and immediately entered my top 5 games of all time.
Damn. Other than Indiana Jones my other picks are just not available on Xbox lol
Indy! Gaming heaven for Indiana Jones fans (like me). Stalker 2 coming in second and Black Ops 6 in third. Those were my picks.
Edit: just realised my GOTY top 2 picks were given a 6/10 and 4/10 reviews. Lol.
Ara history untold (2 points)
Indiana jones
black ops 6
hellblade 2
stalker 2
space marine 2
Oh, shoot, I voted wrong. Oh well.
The top pick was still LAD: Infinite Wealth. That is, Like a Dragon, not Life a Dragon 😉.
GOTY since release and hasn't been anything better for me.
I would have given 4 points to Prince of Persia.
I’m just happy to see there are more people who have taken this poll that appreciate a quality, narrative driven experience (namely Indiana Jones) than the D-tier, low intellect experience of running around in circles shooting, killing, dying and repeating ad infinitum (cough cod cough)
Indiana Jones for me I've spent about 10 hours in the Vatican level just got to Gizeh last night. Black Ops 6 is a close second not enjoyed a CoD this much in years.
I haven’t tried Stalker 2 or Indy yet, so couldn’t fairly include either, so 1. Hellblade 2, 2 DA Veilguard, 3 LiS Double Exposure.
Next, if they’d been listed would have been Case of the Golden Idol and 7 Days to Die.
1. Balatro (custom answer)
2. Indiana Jones
3. Prince of Persia
4. Would be Nine Sols, but you can’t vote two custom answers, so instead 4th place goes to Banishers
5. Life is Strange
I would have given Brotato some love with 3 points if it was there. I gave Indy my 5 and Harold Halibut a 4… but honestly didn’t play many games outside Gamepass
@Balaam_ I assume you haven't played the black ops 6 campaign then? Might be worth trying before slandering it.
Raven did a fantastic job, this year's cod is much more than just multiplayer.
I’ve gone with Indy as my number one too. Highly polished - and not without its issues - but none of them detract much from the overall experience which is refined, immersive and properly Indy-esque.
Why did so few chose Tekken 8? It's like the best fighting game so far in every aspect.
A lot of games are missing in this list.
Fantasian NEO Dimension, 2 points
Dragon Age Veilguard.
I've only played Stalker 2 and Flintlock from this list! And tbh I couldn't say these where my GOTY at all.
Black Ops 6 multiplayer was so fun. Don't know about campaign, as still need to finish Cold War's. EA WRC 24 should be on there if Erdtree is, pretty good.
I'm one of the outliers who just did not get Elden Ring, didn't enjoy it sadly.
Age of Mythology retold deserves the praise. Its not a popular genre so I get it but the game is great. Grew up playing in on PC back in a day and actually planning to spend some time with my old friends to revisit the classic in the multiplayer.
Black ops 6 hands down for me. I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of hours in MP considering how long it has been out. I want to get to the campaign eventually and give Zombies more time as well.
Second will be Indiana Jones. I haven’t played massive amounts but I have played enough to know it is something special. This is from someone who has next to no interest in the Indiana Jones IP and had zero hype for the game in the run up but I gave it a go based on the positive reviews. Love it so far.
There’s not much on here that I’ve played but for me in a personal sense it has to be Tomb Raider. Had an absolute blast playing through those games and they look so good with updated graphics.
I gave my #2 unlisted vote to “Visions of Mana” - it’s not the greatest game, but probs the most fun I had playing a game this year.
Indiana Jones easily for my top choice.
@16BitHero Slightly different order but those are the same 5 games on my list.
I'm not allowed to vote because answers all need to be unique, but I need to use the 'something not on this list' option four times over.
@Nintendo4Sonic my guess is that although there are some fantastic fighting games out there, they don't have the same share of the market nowadays with many new genres, ways to play games and just the sheer choice available to gamers. Go back to the 90's and I bet their sales were a larger chunk of the overall pie.
@16BitHero I guess you're right.
I have now voted. Here’s my top 5;
1) Dragon Age Veilguard
2) Star Wars Outlaws
3) Indiana Jones and the great circle (a couple of more weeks and this could have been higher)
4) Dragons Dogma 2
5) New World Aeternum
Five points: Banishers Ghosts of New Eden.
Four points: Dragon Age The Veilguard
Three points: Marvel Rivals
Two points: New World
One point: Suicide Squad.
Definitely an amazing year for games!
Not gonna vote because the only 2024 releases I played were Little Kitty, Big City and MultiVersus.
Indiana Jones for me. Great game.
My top 5 are:
1) Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
2) Dragon’s Dogma 2
3) Stalker 2
4) Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
5) Space Marine 2
Honorable mention: Death Stranding: Director’s Cut.
Games I haven’t played yet include Shadow of the Erdtree, Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor (at least in its entirety), Hellblade 2, System Shock Remake (I just bought it during the sale for $20.00), and Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
Starfield: Shattered Space (5 points)
Like a Dragon: Infinity Wealth (4 points)
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 (3 points)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (2 points)
Kena: Bridge of Spirits (1 point)
I've played Kena back when it release on PC tho.
Haven't played Indiana Jones yet but looking forward to.
Indiana Jones is a given. So happy to see Hellblade 2 rated so highly among site visitors though. I was under the impression that it wasn't very well received, but maybe that was just general lack of press coverage (and Xbox's rather mediocre marketing around it).
Sonic X Shadow generations is the objectively correct answer. Anyone who disagrees is nitpicking and biased. I win, bye bye.
I would give 5 points to Hogwards Legacy. I would also give 4 points to Star Wars Survivor. Genin Impact gets 3 points.
@Vordus That's why it says to list your games down here and each of the points you would have awarded so they can all be added to the poll now.
Stalker 2 easily my number one of this year, and it will only get better. Harold Halibut was a suprise to me. Definitely not for everyone but I found it quite enjoyable. I guess that's how others see Stalker 2.
Dragons Dogma 2
Like a Dragon: infinite Wealth
Space Marine 2
Shadow of the Erdtree
Not listed (1 point) Darkest Dungeon 2
Hellblade 2 got my top vote, really loved that game. Indy was second and Prince of Persia third. Been a pretty decent year for gaming.
@Old_Man_Harper hope you give Indy and Stalker 2 a shot, they are both great games.
@Balaam_ Be careful of noise bleeds up on your high horse mate!
Indiana Jones has immediately jumped into my Top 3. Brilliant game, though it won't be for everyone, it's much slower paced, more adventure than action drawing inspiration from Dishonored, Deus Ex & Hitman more than Uncharted or Tomb Raider. It just FEELS like Raiders era Indiana Jones. Wonderful.
But shout outs to Animal Well, Botany Manor which were both wonderful and like Indiana Jones allowed you to use your brain. While I think it's a bit flawed as a game the voice acting and writing in Still Wakes the Deep is a high bar. Other devs need to study this game and learn how to write refreshing, authentic characters and dialogue.
@GeraltWhiteWolf Oh definitely! I’ve got 2 weeks leave booked over Christmas and I’m saving Indy and Stalker 2 until then.
5 point to house Balatro.
