So, we're a few days into the full launch of Age of Mythology: Retold on Xbox and PC Game Pass, and this is a very significant new release for Xbox Game Studios - the first time an Age game has ever launched for both PC and console.
In fact, we're going to be seeing a whole bunch of people who have never played the original Age of Mythology getting hands on with it on Xbox Game Pass, and we're willing to bet plenty of Pure Xbox members are amongst them!
We had a chance to interview a couple of members of Age of Mythology: Retold's development team recently, and we came away really enthused by just how much passion and love they had for the project as it approached its launch.
So, has it worked out? Is Age of Mythology: Retold the game that everyone was hoping for, or has it fallen short in a few areas? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the poll down below, and feel free to elaborate in the comments!

I've played it for about 2 hours so haven't come to a final conclusion yet but so far it's pretty good. I need to try a skirmish soon, the campaign is still giving me really specific tasks so I haven't really had a chance to build up a proper base vs base match.
I have it installed, but Star Wars Outlaws and Astro bot are keeping my busy right now.
It’s good fun.
I probably remember it with rose tinted glasses a little too much though.
Had some issues with the automated villains just standing idle so I'll wait for a patch and play AoE2: DE in the meantime. Played a lot of AoM back in the day so I'm very excited to play through it again!
I’m sure I will love it but sadly can’t play for a couple of weeks.
It does need a patch or two, couple of audio and visual glitches, like units getting stuck and the music (one of the best aspects of AoM 😭) stopping intermittently until a battle triggers a tune again. Otherwise, loving it.
It’s cool but why does the ai chill with a titan waiting for me to attack whenever ? I also rather StarCraft 2 / 3
I definitely want to try it but it came out at the busiest time of the year in terms of game releases for me. Star Wars Outlaws and Astro Bot have my attention right now. Then I'll be playing The Plucky Squire and Zelda. Plus I have a lot of stuff going on outside of gaming that's occupying a lot of time. Maybe I'll give it a go in October when things wind down a bit for me.
Regardless, I'm glad to see the general consensus is that it's a great game.
It's just as awesome as I remember 20 years ago
Sunk my entire weekend into it. The AI still stalls after a point but I had fun leveling cities. Some of the rule updates were quite fun.
