The Ascent (Xbox Series X|S)
The Ascent isn't your typical Halloween game, but it is having a special Halloween celebration in the form of a free update to celebrate the season. This update introduces The Jack o’Lantern headgear, The Skeleton shirt, and A Skull Face Tattoo, along with the arrival of a Photo Mode which just so happens to be included in the package.
"Many argue over the Jack-o’-lantern being a fruit or vegetable, when it is in fact a piece of highly flame retardant headgear with interior lit lighting. Ideal for those cool dark nights when you are tempted to get a little too close to the heat of a Magmamaker."
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan (Xbox One)
Get some friends around, turn off the lights and dive into The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. This is the perfect game for a group Halloween night, as everyone can participate by passing the controller around. Basically acting as a playable horror film, you'll control the fates of a group of characters who stumble across the cursed ship - Man of Medan. Filled with classic horror tropes, it knows exactly what it is, but puts you straight into the director's chair to orchestrate the action. Good luck!
The Evil Within 2 (Xbox One)
While The Evil Within is a fantastic game in its own right, it's the sequel that shines. Bigger and better than the original, the second instalment turns the insanity dial all the way to up to 11 and throws everything it can at the player. Mixing open-world sections with the linear, creepy set pieces fans have grown accustomed to, The Evil Within 2 is a true treat for any horror fan. From the grotesque and elaborate creature designs to the ability to play the game in third or first person. It offers something for everyone and is one of the best horror games you can check out on Xbox Game Pass right now.
The Medium (Xbox Series X|S)
One of the most recent releases on this list and an Xbox Series X|S only title, The Medium is horror expert Bloober Team's latest entry and is a rollercoaster ride. Featuring a dual-reality mechanic, players will navigate their character through two separate realities - one seemingly normal, the other a hellish landscape. The plot of The Medium deals with some dark and heavy subject matter, designed for veterans of the genre out there. Even the gameplay is packed full of devilish monster chases and jump scares. Turn off the lights, close the curtains and prepare for The Medium to get under your skin.
Visage (Xbox One)
Visage may be very new to Xbox Game Pass but has certainly made an impression already. This is not a game for the weak at heart and is a demanding, horrifying experience for anyone who takes the leap. set in an ever-changing house, you'll slowly piece together a puzzle - but you're not alone. Various entities roam its hall and will play with your mind throughout the runtime. As you desperately attempt to reach the credits, you'll never feel safe and constantly feel like you're being watched. There's nothing quite like it and it's a perfect recommendation for the hardcore horror fans out there.
Are there any other Game Pass recommendations you'd give for this Halloween? Tell us down in the comments.

It's nice seeing a list that includes non horror. I'm not a fan of horror and not a fan of Halloween given that focus, bit there were those magical, special things as a kid that I remember had a whimsical Halloween. That I enjoyed. You don't see as much of it anymore. But things like Luigi's Mansion, MediEvil, Psychonauts, etc. Really bring back that magic.
Though, control, I'll make the exception for. I don't do horror, but I'm a sucker for (Series) X Files.
I expected dead by daylight
Costume Quest is the perfect Halloween RPG
Not on gamepass, but can't go wrong with the undead nightmare for rdr 1
Rdr 1 is on sale for $9.89 or something
@everynowandben It honestly is, really hits the spirit of Halloween.
