With the Xbox Developer Direct 2025 just around the corner, we're in that period right now where everyone seems to making predictions about not only the show, but also the rest of 2025 and how it looks for Xbox's lineup of games.
The official word is that we're already getting a great set of titles this year, with the likes of Fable, DOOM: The Dark Ages and obviously Avowed all set for the coming months. Let's take a look at that confirmed lineup for 2025 so far:
- Avowed (February 18, 2025)
- DOOM: The Dark Ages (TBD 2025)
- Fable (TBD 2025)
- South of Midnight (TBD 2025)
- The Outer Worlds 2 (TBD 2025)
- Towerborne 1.0 (TBD 2025)
Yes, there's a distinct lack of release dates in there, and we're still unsure whether something like Fable will actually make it in 2025, but it's a great potential list nevertheless. And of course, those are just the games with release windows that we actually know about right now. Many of the others are undated, and some probably haven't been revealed yet!
Take this Oblivion remake / remaster, for example. All signs seem to be pointing towards its legitimacy, so hopefully that'll be heading our way before long. We've also got a new Call of Duty bound to launch this year. How about Ara: History Untold getting a console release? Rumours have even suggested Gears of War: E-Day could be ready too!
Here's a look at some of the other major Xbox games that could be preparing to release in 2025:
- Ara: History Untold for console
- Call of Duty 2025
- Gears of War: E-Day
- New Tony Hawk game
- Oblivion remake / remaster
- Whatever the "surprise" is at the Xbox Dev Direct
It doesn't have to end there. Something like Clockwork Revolution could easily make an appearance - it's never been dated and remains shrouded in secrecy right now - and perhaps even Double Fine could come out of the woodwork with a new project? State of Decay 3, Everwild... anything could ultimately end up making a splash in 2025.
Listen, we know that not everything here is going to release in 2025, even if it's actually been dated for 2025 already. Delays happen, plans change, and it's inevitable that a few disappointments crop up along the way. But for every delay, let's hope we get a surprise - our fingers are crossed for the most stacked first-party year in Xbox history!
