Re: Once Again, Xbox Says 'No' To The Return Of The Xbox 360 Blades Dashboard

Carck

@Zucaritas regardless of your personal opinion, please consider how the wallpaper is mostly visible at all times due to the heavy use of transparencies. This was a common look for interfaces in the mid-2000s.

@Snake_V5 easiest answer is nostalgia. But it was indeed very practical. Everything was well laid out, well organized and it was incredibly snappy, especially for its time.
The current dashboard is much more feature rich, but some of those features are buried in submenus or 2/3 clicks too far away. The blades were very focused.

Not sure it would work today. But the underlying principles of its design are sorely missing from today's dashboard. Nostalgia for the blades is the easiest way most people have to communicate the need for those principles to return, even if in a different modern way.

Re: EA Sees 'Tremendous Opportunity' If Call Of Duty Goes Xbox Exclusive

Carck

@Kohaku a lot can change in 5 years. It is an opportunity to tackle a market that may be eventually left without Cod.

@BRT15 it's not necessarily about financial sense, it's about dominating a market. Why does any company care about exclusives at all then?
Surely you understand that if by next generation Cod is an Xbox exclusive, that's a massive blow in early console adoption right? That means more people coming into an ecosystem and spending all their cash on Xbox instead of PS Store.
If it makes so much financial sense to not make it exclusive why is the deal under scrutiny by multiple legislators from across the world, hundred or thousands of well-paid people looking into the impacts of MS doing just that?

Re: Rockstar Games Confirms GTA 6 Leak In Official Statement

Carck

(maybe after all the hype was done and dusted TLOU2 is a very average game...but that's for another time )

Thanks for your input, probably there are indeed certain factors i wasn't completely factoring in.
Still believe it is getting overblown, as per usual online, but hopefully it won't impact the devs too much.. it's already a crummy job as is

Re: Rockstar Games Confirms GTA 6 Leak In Official Statement

Carck

@NEStalgia unless i'm missing something from the big picture, there's little to no harm to the product, outside loss of secrecy on some aspects (of this early build) of the game.

Only the most hardcore salty nerds will crawl through 90 videos of work in progress to try and crap on it. A single 30 second ad on TV before the game launches will completely mitigate their effectiveness.

For example, TLOU2 was heavily leaked way before release, leading to outcry over how characters were handled and major plot points, etc. Still, it was completely acclaimed by critic and went on to be one of PS4's best selling games.
Unless a game is terrible, leaks do little in way of lost sales. And if it does end up being terrible, leaks are used as a scapegoat by the dev team (just like "review bombs" apparently only impact games that aren't good to begin with, piracy only impacts games that sell bad, etc).

@UltimateOtaku91 play any one of them. If you like it, then play another. Nothing wrong with starting at a random point, you may not get some references but everything you need to know is explained when necessary.
Personally i started by playing 4 when it launched. Loved it and kept playing them ever since

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Says 'Phantom Liberty' Will Be The Game's Only Expansion

Carck

@gollumb82 i’ll spell it out: to me this game is utter crap.

I understand there’s good, bad, and everything in between. I’ve been playing games for 25 years. This is a bad one.
I don’t know what else to say. The game could have glowing 10/10 reviews for all i care. I played it and thought it was garbage.

Not necessarily at a technical level, but at a conceptual one. It fails to deliver on everything itself promises when playing it. The game mechanics are stale. The dialogue is a cringefest with terrible delivery. And most importantly, it doesn’t feel right. Any of it. I’d rather play anything else

Again, this is my personal opinion. If you enjoy it that’s fine. But to dismiss any and all bad opinions online as trolling is some sort of joke. Bad games exist

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Says 'Phantom Liberty' Will Be The Game's Only Expansion

Carck

@gollumb82 the trash comments, such as mine, exist because a lot of people, like myself, played the game and think it's trash.
I am not aware of what the score or consensus around Cyberpunk is at the moment. But i played the game as soon as the Series X version hit. And my appreciation of it after about 10 hours is that it is a terrible game. Failing at the most basic of its ambitions.

But do go on about how my opinion shouldn't be valid.
Maybe you have some justification as for why one of the most expensive games ever can't even convey ambiance and tone as well as games from 15 years ago. I didn't. It's trash, get over it

Re: PSA: Now's Probably A Good Time To Use 'Energy Saver' Mode On Xbox Series X|S

Carck

@lokozar unplugging your Xbox doesn’t make you a better person. And no, i am not responsible for the way people in charge rule.

You make me a few questions, i will tell you again the same thing: it’s not my job to figure it out. It’s legislators and infrastructure management’s job.

Again, i fully agree with you conceptually. I just don’t feel it’s our business to solve anything. Your honest attitude may enable them to shift blame instead of being held accountable for the mess they’re causing.

Again, unplugging an Xbox does nothing.
Cheers brother

Re: PSA: Now's Probably A Good Time To Use 'Energy Saver' Mode On Xbox Series X|S

Carck

@lokozar i agree with you. But how about this: it's not my problem to solve. There are people in charge to make that change. Me unplugging my Xbox isn't going to make any difference (besides my wallet). It can only change at a legislation/infrastructure level, and there's little you and me can do about it.

These problems aren't going away while the very people responsible for solving them have an active interest on keeping everything as is.

Re: Calico Gets Review Bombed On Xbox, Dev Calls For 'Better Moderation'

Carck

The only thing that's really wrong imo is if people are able to get in more than one review (or if they are being hateful on the review text).
If most people think your game sucks, for whatever reason, why is it a "review bomb". People just don't like it, grow up

"don't like our game? you're a bigot"
nah fam, your game looks like garbage
